This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning friends.
It's hard to believe that we're already halfway through October. It seems the holidays will be on us before we know it. Last year we had a great excuse to be lazy about the holidays...2 houses, 2 mortgages and utilities, constant travel back and forth...etc. I guess this year I'll have to step up my game. Haha.
Andi - is your family going to the islands again this year? If so, I bet you're already looking forward to that.

Hello ROs. Yes, Lora, we'll be going to Cayman again over Christmas week. I'm counting the days, especially since both my kids and all the DGKs will be there this year. I keep forgetting how recent it is that you were juggling two houses, trying to sell one, set the other one up, etc. etc., not to mention the car issues, trips back and forth. How nice to have time this year to step up your game (if that's what you want to do).
It was so, so dark this morning when I went to PT, and I went half an hour later than usual. Pretty soon I'll be going there in the dark AND coming home in the dark. For some reason this year I don't have any SAD although I can't say I'm looking forward to winter at all. We're due for a nor'easter today that is supposed to dump a huge amount of rain along with wind on us through tomorrow morning. They're warning about power outages which would not please me at all. My dinner date with a DF tonight is canceled - neither of us wants to drive home in the dark in the pouring rain and wind, leaves flying all over the place. We'll reschedule for next week. Of course I didn't plan anything for dinner at home so will need to be creative. I do still have some leftover pork (of course) and cabbage so maybe I'll just finish that tonight.
Jana, so glad you were able to post here yesterday. I can't even imagine how exhausted you must be and am so glad your boss told you to take the rest of the week off. I'm also glad you'll make your cruise - I was afraid with your DM being so sick, you might not be able to go. I know you desperately need this time away. Your DF sounds like a handful. Sending hugs...
Well, have to go into a meeting now. Have a good day all.

Hello Lora, Andi, and ATF...went to my gym class this morning (step today - I really enjoy this scaled down step for only 45 minutes and with weights). Had mah jongg this afternoon...didn't win but laughed and talked a lot (hope we didn't disburb the other tables too much). Heading quickly to the Dollar Tree, and then picking up DGS and taking him to the church dinner. I hope I get home earlier than I did last week so I have my alone time while DH goes to his study group.
Oh Lora - I know you are so happy to be in and settled this year...enjoy!
Andi - It was pouring all morning - ran through the rain into the gym and later carried an umbrella to the clubhouse. The sun is out not, but it is chilly. I think it is supposed to rain tonight or tomorrow also...oh how wonderful to have that trip to look forward to!
OK...off and running

Happy Hump Day, everyone, I thought I had posted last night, but I got distracted when ODD stopped by....we started going through an old steamer trunk of Mom's and found dozens of beautiful silk scarves that she had tucked away. She wore a lot of them back in the day, and ODD was tickled pink to look through and take some of them. She was the absolute apple of my parents' eye, and I am so glad when these things can bring happiness to my girls (and sometimes me...). I know it would have thrilled Mom to think the girls would want anything of hers. Anyway, we visited a good while, and I got wrapped up in the Nats game (YES, we won our way into the series!), and went to bed. I got a lot done yesterday. I had a doctor appointment and then took my car for a pre-winter oil change and "check-up". I need 2 new tires, but I'm putting that off for a week or two (a paycheck or two) longer. I also took the pool pump apart - although I had covered the pool for the winter, I hadn't put the pump away - and I got it into the pool house. The weather was absolutely perfect yesterday. Andi, I think your plan to postpone the dinner was a good one. It sounds like you will get awful weather. Anytime a storm is labeled "a bomb", I take it seriously! HA! Your pork recipe sounded delicious! I love hearing how people fix things. I practically salivate when Lora describes how she cooks some of her recipes! Your upcoming Christmas plans sound just wonderful... Susie, it sounds like you were at the fun table! I also like step classes. I have a step bench, and I was thinking about doing a workout with that, more frequently. The weights are great, too, for building bone. A bonus all the way around. It rained here today, too. It was really hard for a while, then cleared up around 5:00, just in time to drive home. It feels like there is a really chilly wind blowing out there now. I am really not looking forward to the increasing darkness, and cold, of winter! Lora, I hope your sleep patterns get straightened out again! Geez, time has flown since you moved to your little slice of heaven, up there on that Alabama mountain.... It has been such a pleasure to share your happiness there Jana, I am glad to see that you are staying away from work for a few more days. And I totally understand you wanting to decompress, and have time away from your DF. He will process this however he will, and being with you won't really change that process for him. It could just make your process a bit more difficult, for the moment. You are such a strong, big hearted person, and I think you have done so much for everyone around you...always know that. Its good not to be strong sometimes, too. I love your fb memes, and like Susie said, it is good to see your sense of humor there! Well, I am going to get some things done before time for bed. I hope everyone is having a good evening, and I will be back tomorrow. Take care and be safe, wherever you are... RobinMD
