Good Morning ~ the winds have found us up here on the Great Lakes side - I think it's the tail-end of the Nor'easter others are experiencing - and rain, rain, rain...just like in Disney's Pooh stories lol
Carole - thinking of you today and each day as you wait for news on DS Matthew. {{{}}} hugs to you my Dear Friend! Certainly caught you out of the blue and I can't imagine the range of emotions in your family right now. Keep us posted and we will continue to send positive vibes and prayers your way! Does it help to be crazy busy at work? I'm hoping it does - and wow, that is something with Debbie's surgery revealing all those issues! Sounds like a lot of surgeries in stages - that would be difficult and yes, sounds like a Plan at work may need to be in place to cover all her responsibilities.
Gabrielle - something about the age of our mothers that brings out the attention seeking behaviors?? I don't know...but my Girls promise to NOT let me behave like that when I turn older lol Safe Travels to you this week...and ugh, the smoke. I agree, it's so hard to deal with the smell of smoke...
Sue - glad you are able to plan simple meals remainder of this week - it helps rest up from the vacation week. I always wondered about Time Shares - like, how LONG do you pay into them?? Sounds like if you don't sell them back/off they are yours forever?? Wow, that is a heavy responsibility but good friends of ours have thoroughly enjoyed theirs and have no regrets - they love love love Florida and warmer climates to VISIT not live permanently there and are always finding great deals through their time share.
Jenny - I for one did not realize you shared your DESK with grumpy Diane! No wonder your nerves were shot - seriously, why the hold up to find her her own desk/space? I love the idea of you taking your Vacation time the week of major Holidays - Yay!!!
Lisa - my DD Lindsey works in her campus Academic Records department - she has such funny stories of alumni calling (she's now permitted to answer the phone) asking for transcripts that really don't exist since the former student never finished classes - can you imagine? All these years falsely telling employers you earned a degree when you never showed up for Finals week? lol SMH
Shelly - shout out to ya! Hope you are getting in your early Work Outs and having a GOOD week!! Let us know when you can pop in...
Gotta dash - Thinking First this Thursday about healthy options - with running the computer lab helping each teacher get their own class started, I work straight through the lunch hour - I find it helpful to pack fresh roasted almonds, cut up apple, and plenty of water - then I eat my sandwich around 3:30 when the testing AND carpool duties end. It's been a hectic schedule and I'm very glad today is the last full day like this - Friday is Make Up test day, and next week I'll rotate the 5 Kindergarten classes through - then DONE. It has been hard but it's moving along well...

Thanks for getting us started today Christine...
Will likely be MIA tonight...I had forgotten about a paint night I have....popped up on my calendar! It's a fun fall one....a scarecrow painted on burlap! Can't wait!
Need to gather my stuff for lunch and get this day started.
Carole...thinking of you and the rest of the family....please keep us posted on news of Matt, his diagnosis, treatment plans and prognosis....we are here for you to lean on! While none of us have been "blind-sided" like you were this week, we are here....hugs my dear friend! ♥♥♥

Good morning!
Pleased to feel a little misty rain as I walked back in from the mom cave (TM time)....maybe this will clean out the air and help up where the fire is burning. I feel like this dodged the weather predictions but I am happy as we need it. Got home kind of late, Carlo (who cuts my hair) was pretty talkative last night and needed a listening ear. Glad that I was able to get in before all of the travelling though. Need to pack for TX and then the trip to Sonoma tonight....don't know if I mentioned that I got a flat tire at 4:45 am on Tuesday on my way to track? My car has "run flat" tires which means that there is no spare and they stay inflated for about 50 miles or so after you get a "flat". So I drove to track and then DH came to track, we switched cars, and he took it to the tire place (near the track) at 8:00 am. So happy that they were able to fix my tire and hoping that it holds for all of the crazy travelling going on over the next two weeks.... Great news from my mom's doctor...the polyps were benign! She is so happy (and so am I!). Her colon has done something weird though and shifted so he wants to keep an eye on that...she'll go back in two years.
Christine: Wow, I'll bet that you will be glad after the K's are done! Glad that the testing is going well (I am not surprised--you are so organized and committed to seeing it done well). How is that eating going with the later meal? Sometimes when something like that happens for me I find that I like the "mixing it up" in terms of timing. Hope that today goes well for you!
I just texted Carole--power is out in their area so no computer time this morning....I know that we all have her on our mind right now...

Sue: Paint night? FUN! We know how you love those and I look forward to seeing what the burlap project looks like. Glad that you have it to look forward to!
Jenny: Like Christine, I knew that you and Diane shared "space" but not a desk! Loud music would be distracting--I can see why that would be hard. A conversation for another day I guess? We know you love the rain--glad that you have it now (and thanks for sharing some with us).
Lisa: Hope that work is going well for you still---I love hearing how you make it "interesting" for yourself.
Saw on FB that Shelly was having a time getting on the Board yesterday---I am sure that we will hear from her soon.
So, I haven't even made lists for my packing...will work on that at lunch today. I have done a lot of thinking about it. This program at Deloitte (the TX trip tomorrow) has a lot of "rules" about wearing "smart business casual" clothing, no workout clothes in certain spaces, jeans only in the evening....really interesting and it takes some planning! Last night I finally got done with my haircut at 7:10 pm and was STARVING so picked up a chicken and steak soft taco at Taco Bell. It has fresh lettuce and tomato on it but I could tell this morning that I guess I don't eat that way that often--not quite feeling great. Okay, but not great. I will know next time (I guess will stop at a grocery store and pick up something?) Okay, gotta go. See you later ladies!

Good afternoon my friends... I left work to donate blood, they told me I could not do Double Reds this time - so it only took about 30 minutes! Oh and I walked i and they took me - not even time to sit! LOL THAT is highly unusual! Anyway, my left arm (usual donating arm) has a spot of eczema on it, so they couldn't use that - and my right arm - the veins didn't look big enough(?) So I could only do whole blood... but, I had already told them I wasn't coming back - so I didn't go! Even though I could have gotten in another hour of work - I just don't care!
WICKED WINDY out here... only 49 degrees - so yeah I just wanted to come home. Ken will probably be home soon - it should be his early day - then I will worry about dinner... actually my eating this week is way OFF... I am either not hungry at all - or I am eating the wrong stuff... need to get my act together soon!! Although today the scale was back down!
So as long as I am home early - I am going to sit and enjoy a chat with you ♥
Let me see if I can catch up before Ken gets home! LOL
Christine - We had awesome rain - thunder - lightening last night... lost power around midnight! It came back on just as I got out of bed - but by then it was too late to get my computer time! I wanted to leave a little early just in case there were issues with the drive!
I hope you didn't get too awfully wet walking to the building in your rain yesterday!
Yes... while I was surprised - it is not surprising that Debbie is worse off than first thought. She sent a text today - she is still on clear liquid diet, and has been up in a chair - and taken walks around her room... but still in the hospital - with no talk of being released!
LOL I am always afraid to get the dumpster as the work is being done - too much of a time crunch! This way we have a (fairly) neat pile of lumber against the back of the house - I did let it sit here longer than planned... but remember the whole deck - porch - patio took pretty much the whole summer! Dumpsters are only here for 2 weeks at a time!! It would have been a waste!
I AM thinking of taking Mondays off in December... unless something else comes us that I need time for Matthew... not to mention IF Debbie will need more surgeries - who knows what that will mean! Trust me I will NOT "lose" those last 40 hours of vacation time that is in my bank of time!
HA! Nah - I have my schedule written out for everyone at work to see! LOL Tomorrow is a 1/2 day - then if the weather holds we will go apple picking with our girls - then come home to carve pumpkins!
OMGoodness... my MIL was the same way - she could be laying in the hospital with her heart RACING but said she couldn't feel it!!
UGH! How DARE your former CEO start anything now! HE is what out your school in this "boat" to begin with!! WHAT was he thinking? Trying to joke about such a thing...
Sue: Sorry Rowan was down for the count - but glad it was short lived! I NEVER think to grab one of those chickens! Our local store has them at a bargain for those with the Big Y Savings Cards! I'll have to put it on my list!

Gabrielle: You have every right to be thinking about the smoke out there! {{{hugs}}} Hun, you have a wicked busy couple of weeks ahead... you have a lot on your plate too!
Thank you - and yes I do know they appreciate my being there - and to be honest, being home here would not be any better for me right now! I think I am in need of distraction! I come home from work, and immediately think I should just go to bed... haven't been eating right - or doing a THING around here since Monday!
I hope the news was good for your DM in regards to the polyp they found! I go every 3 years, due to the ones they always find in me! Very thankful they are always nothing to worry about!
Gad you will be out of the rain - AND THE SMOKE for the next several days ♥ Thanks for the texts - those hugs helped ♥
Lisa: LOL Yes, choosing clothes can be a major time suck, can't it??? Thank you - yes... I know... my getting sick and or gaining more weight will not help my Matthew - in any way... need to get out of this funk, soon! Hope you are finding it easier to navigate the file systems!
Jenny: YAY to getting your own desk space! I didn't remember that you had to share the desk- WTH!?? Ahh, yes... music... I wear my ear bud a LOT lately... Deb likes her music on - and it is just over my cubicle wall - and I can't stand it! OH and she HUMS and SINGS along! UGH!!!
LOL Thanks, yes... the working this week is probably a good thing! Thanks for your prayers... he can use any that anyone can spare!
YES Take the vacation when you can!! I wanted time between Christmas and New Years, but Kaitlin took that this year! But I am thinking every Monday in December sounds like a good idea - depending on what's going on here! I WILL use it so as not to LOSE it!
Sue: YUP we are dealing with a Nor' Easter coming through... we still haven't picked up our pellets yet - so no cozy stove to keep me warm these days! Add to that losing power last night - I was COLD! LOL But then again I always am!!
I guess the "bowel blockage" was actually the small intestine - sucked up into (?) the hernia... add to that the hernia she has had since her daughter was born 20+ years ago - has a mesh (?) that has scar tissue in it to deal with. They were dealing with that before they can even think of worrying about the gallstones... personally I am hoping they will do the next surgery ASAP... maybe she can just get started on STD and not have to worry about losing her paychecks! Even though it means more work for ME... for her I would want this! We don't have the Day 1 if in hospital - but then again we get 100% of our pay when out on STD... so even giving up 5 days isn;t the end of the world... IF she were smart, she'd cancel her November time off - use those 2 days, then take 3 W/O pay, just to get the next few weeks paid 100%! But that's just ME... Anyway - it is just all up in the air right now... and this is NOT how I "fly"! It seems I will be using about 4 hours of vacation this week... so I will still have 36 hours to use... I am cool with that - for now... as long as I get to use them at some point... and trust me I WILL! I am not THAT "good"... I am not giving up my earned time!
Yeah - I am not sure a Timeshare is the way we want to go - but it's worth the investigation! OMG I already don't even know what this resort/group is called... and no clue what hotel they put you up in - if you do the short one... but that's what I think we will do. We'll see... I just know there are no "resort options" in CA or much of the "west".... TX is ONLY San Antonio... but there is New Orleans! I DO want to go there someday!
LOL I'd be the same Burger King means yummy fried goodness... onion rings would be a must!
Yup... I can live with and or deal with whatever time I have coming... UGH Yes... by the end of the day it was actually 100 items to be manually "redirected"! I am still thinking of doing this Saturday... not for OT, but instead of using vacation time. I know in those 4 hours I could get my AT ALL.CAUGHT.UP! I am hitting 9 days behind right now! It probably would't even take those 4 hours! I did stay 20 extra minutes last night, and got my monthly Management report done and out!
OH Sue... to be honest me either! I knew he had some issues I thought was "major" Acid Reflux... I may be calling on your "nursing" side to help me out here... NOPE... my side has had breast cancer and brain tumor/lung cancer... Ken's side had breast cancer...
I'll give an update in a minute - but YOU my dear friend have used a word the oncologist used... and that is LOCALIZED! To me that sounds like a good thing!

OK Here's what Matt learned from the oncologist yesterday... Looks like it is localized. There were no signs in the surrounding organs or lymph nodes. The oncologist is going to consult with another doctor(s) and they meet with him again on the 30th! Matt will also be meeting with a special surgeon in Springfield about getting a endoscopic ultrasound - that will paint a better picture of the tumors depth.
They have to look into a few things before deciding h if he should get radiation - but as of now it appears he will have to have chemo - but that is what they will discuss on the 30th!
SO I am hopeful with the news of "localized" and "no sign in surrounding organs or lymph nodes"... Sue: PLEASE let me ask your "nursing side" am I right? Please be honest... I don't need it sugar coated - but would prefer to KNOW what we are looking at... and yes I do realize you are not a Dr. - and all cases can be different... I guess I'd rather not THINK this is "good" just to find out it is not!
I am also "hopeful" with the fact that everything moved "quickly" the past 2 days, but now the next consult will be almost 2 weeks away!? Doesn't seem they are in a hurry - at this point??

Christine: Thanks for starting us off today - like I said we had no power... and I din;t have it in me to try the whole phone hot-spot thing... so I stayed in bed. At one point I decided to get up and figure out HOW to get ready for work... and thank goodness the power came back on! I was able to shower and get ready! With it being middle of the night - I am not worried about the contents of the fridge - no one opened it from midnight to 6! LOL Scary thing is the winds are worse tonight then they were last night!! I will admit I do NOT like the high winds! Always worried about what will blow away or off it's hinges!
Thank you my friend... I knew I could count on your ladies to "be there" for me... shhh, I told you ladies before my sisters even knew! HA! "We" decided not to tell them until we "knew more"... however - since we still don't know MUCH, we needed to let them know - so Matt called them last night... he also called his brother... I only had to call my Aunt.
Yes, being super busy has certainly kept my mind off Matt for the most part! But yes - IF she will be out for an extended time - someone better do something to help.
OMGoodness what a schedule for you these days!! WHEW!! Eating lunch at 3:30! Glad you see light at the end of this tunnel!!
I admit to NOT "thinking First"... Hell I am not truly thinking at all right now... I do know this has to STOP... but I am giving myself until the weekend to get my head out of my A$$, and start taking care of myself!

Sue: Oh How Fun! Can't wait to see the pictures of your scarecrow! I wanted to do a fall scene, but our paint place is an hour drive, not very doable for me on a work night! Thanks Sue - I know I can count on you gals to keep me level headed - but have my back if I am having a bad day!
I LOVE YOU GIRLS ♥
Gabrielle: Hmm, didn't know your MOM CAVE was outside!! Much like a "Cheryl She-Shed" Meanwhile YAY to some rain to help "clear the air" for you!! OMGoodness... never have heard of a run-flat tire! YAY for DH being able to head to the track to help you out!! Ummm, WOW... thank goodness for your Mom's "benign" polyps, but "shifted" What the heck! Never heard of that before!
Aww, thanks for letting my gals know why I was ditching them this morning. LOL I was laying in bed thinking about the phone hot spot - but couldn't muster the energy.
WOW... a trip with a pretty intense "dress code"... kind of interesting they feel the need to stress "no WO clothes" in some areas?? Even more interesting "jeans only" in the evenings??? WOW! I would think "jeans optional"... So what time do you head out tomorrow??? Are you traveling with others? Or a solo trip?? Oh dear... I do hope you are feeling better by now! Yup, even a "healthier" option doesn't always sit well huh!?
Safe travels to you my friend ♥ will miss you - hope you can pop in here and there!

OK Well I have been posting in and around making and eating dinner...now it is after 7, so time for me to head upstairs! Tried calling for my sleep study consult today and oh yeah - Dr office has to make the appointment AGAIN... so I continue to "wait"! I am so confused by this... how does the Dr. office KNOW when I am able to do a sleep=over at the hospital lab??? Apparently my "order" was put in on the 10th, but they are "busy" so it has not been scheduled yet! UGH! Am I not busy as well??! ? Whatever... I continue to wait!! Will try to Check In Tomorrow... this wind has me a bit concerned, but - hey - it is what it is... ♥hugs♥

Hey everyone!!! My plan was to be here and catch up tonight but I had a nice surprise at work today. I was minding my business and doing my job when someone comes in and says they need my help out in the aisle. So I go out to see what’s going on and this stranger looks at me and says he has something for me. It was an envelope and to tell you the truth I was pretty nervous. So I asked who it was from and he said I would just have to open it. So as I did my best friend from High School comes up the aisle and peeks around her boyfriend and I had no idea!!!! She lives north of St Louis MO and they are on a road trip to Key West and went out of their way to come by and see me. So yes they went so so far out of their way to come to see me. I just couldn’t believe it. So we went to a local bar to eat and had a good visit!!!! I miss her so much!!! It was like we have seen each other forever but it’s actually been years. I’m so excited I probably won’t sleep
Carole I’m so so sorry about Matt. I hope he gets good news and can beat this!!! I hope the news might come quicker than 2 weeks but every thing will be ok. He’s strong and will fight a hard fight.
Ok got to get because I WO in the morning. Not going to lie it’s gonna be hard to get up in the morning. I don’t usually drink and I never go out so morning will be here early.
Sorry will try and catch up with the rest later. Have a great weekend
