This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone,
I woke up chilly this morning to find it 65 in the house. So coffee and fluffy robe and slippers is the order for this morning. The sun is bright so I know the house will warm up soon as it's streaming through all of the front windows. But the real news is it's 45 outside. Brrrrr! Our first really chilly day. We're supposed to get up to 66 today and then back into the upper 70s and low 80s by the first of the week.
I have a few household things to knock out around here today, so just wanted to get us started. I'll do my best to BBL.
I hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Good afternoon, all. Brrr, cold here today as well, blustery and raw. The rain is done with at least, and I didn't lose power so it's all good. I did some cooking last night and my fingers still smell of garlic. I'm sure my house does as well. I made a simple kale, onion and chicken sausage dish which I had for lunch today and will have for lunch tomorrow. I also had some honeydew melon - it's a really good one this time. It's always a matter of luck about melons as far as I'm concerned. And for dinner I made Indian spiced eggplant and will have it with some smoked tofu I bought. I have enough of the eggplant for 4 meals so may end up freezing some since I get sick of things after a couple of days.
I'm completely out of vegetables now so need to deal with that plus a couple of other things so it looks like a supermarket trip is in my future after work. I'd like to get to the gym but I suspect I won't make it and I have PT early tomorrow morning plus the weekend ahead of me to catch up on exercise.
No news to report here, as you can tell from my post so far. I am feeling a little depressed about the dark and increasing cold, but that's to be expected.
Have a great day all.

Hi Everyone, Now it is fine. Went home and eating lunch and just put a load of laundry in so I can go to the gym. I had another pair of nylon or lycra leggings but cant find them. I usually wear them out of the gym so I dont know where they are. I guess I'll have to get another pair. They werent full length so not so warm for now anyway but I havent seen them in my usual places I may have put them. Just so you know velveeta cheese doesnt melt at least the slices. I was in the mood for a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. The heat didnt even melt the cheese. Have to make a quick stop to get two other things too.
Andi, that Indian spiced eggplant sounds good. As you know I like Indian foods would you mind sending me the recipe or describe how you make it.
Have a nice day!

Janet, I'd be happy to share the recipe. What's the best way to get it to you? I can take a pic of it - do you want to share your email or phone number with me? I also have a great recipe that goes with it for curried chick peas, from the same cookbook and can send that along as well. They're both recipes for the Instant Pot but I imagine you can cook both of them the regular way; it will just take longer.

Hi ROs... although the gym felt warmer the other day, today it did NOT...discovered later that the thermostat was set lower than it should have been (plus, this is more of a yoga type class, not an aerobics type where you warm up in a hurry).
Got home and headed to LLI for the Abraham Lincoln lecture. Next week is the last one...looking forward to this guy's lecture series second semester. We made a quick trip to COSTCO afterward and then headed home and had lunch. DH went to pick up MDGD from school and I am going to rest for a bit and then I have bridge tonight.
Waving to everyone...glad we were all able to post today.

Hi everyone!
Janet - glad you made it here, and that you got dismissed from Jury Duty and still had some day left. The last time I went I was there for the entire day, and got dismissed around 5pm. Lol
Susie - I bet that Lincoln series is fascinating. Any cool finds at Costco?
Andi - I love being in the kitchen when the weather is cold and gloomy. Between the aromas and the warmth, it always makes me feel cozy and content.
We're also running low on groceries. I'll need to shop tomorrow or Saturday morning. If I wait until Saturday, then supper tomorrow night will probably breakfast food. But that's okay too, I love breakfast for dinner. Tonight supper is pretty basic. Bacon/Burger patties with sliced avocado on the side. Pretty much 3 of my favorite flavors though. Lol

Hello, ROs,
Lora, I'm with you...I love cooking and being in the kitchen on a cool, cloudy day. I especially love baking when it is snowing out. The burgers and avocado sound great!
Andi, I am getting down about the earlier darkness, and increasing colder temperatures. I start dreading winter sometime around September! I do love a good snow storm, but the rest of the bad weather, I could do without. Your eggplant does sound delicious!
Susie, enjoy your bridge game tonight. I love a good trip to Costco. Ours here, has such good chicken salad. I love so much of their stuff!
Janet, glad you had short jury duty! I haven't done it for a while. Hope you enjoyed your extra time.
Not much to say tonight. I've been holding my breath for my barn to stay strong through this wind. I am still waiting for the guy to come and give me ideas on how we can take it down, or keep the part of it that I am still using. I am really glad that I reinforced some of the beams, but it will only last for so long. I think people closer to the coast, and up north, got much stronger weather than we did. I hope everyone is safe, and has no damage. So far, so good, here. I'm just keeping it short tonight. I'm going to catch some of the American League playoff, and head to bed. I slept really well last night, and even got right back to sleep when I woke up a couple of times. I appreciate every good night's sleep... Have a good night everyone, and I'll be back tomorrow. Happy Friday,
RobinMD

Andi, I sent you my email via the private message on this board. I got to the gym this afternoon for a while and have been working on my online conference forms for next week's conferences. That's about it. At least it us Friday tommorow. My partner will be out for several hours tommorow morning tho so I will have to deal with that tommorow. Good night!

DH went to a neighborhood meeting on being prepared in an emergency and then out to dinner with the other husbands of the gals I play bridge with...so we both had a pleasant evening. I told one of the girls playing bridge that neither one of us could eat anything else tonight (since she is complaining about gaining weight also) and that she had to check with me tomorrow to make sure that I kept my promise.
Andi - both of the dishes you made sound so good...yum.
Lora - Talk about COSTCO buys... I went in to get muffins for the neighborhood "coffee" I am in charge of on Saturday but also got tp, tissues, salad greens, a rotisserie chicken AND I found a jacket that looks like my NorthFace fuzzy liners for $14.99 - unbelievable! I wore it to bridge tonight and the gals loved it. The whole front of the store had a line-up of cold weather gear. I think I can put my shorts away...
Janet - glad you got to the gym and got some work done for the conferences next week. I know you are looking forward to the weekend. Maybe you will have time to try one of Andi's recipes.
Robin - hope the barn holds up in the wind. How do you take down part of it but save the part you are still using...take down half and build a new wall?
Wishing everyone a good night of sleep.
