Good morning - I think a SIMPLE Saturday is just what I need today! It will be "simple" but "busy"... if that makes sense?
Up kind of early today - not sure why... was awake before Ken's alarm went off - so after he got up, I stayed there - thinking I;d fall back asleep - but nah... I didn't... so figured I'd get up and have a lazy start to my day!
I will make a homemade corn chowder (WW recipe) today for supper tonight... also think I will make a butternut squash soup for next week (makes a good hot snack), and PLAN the week ahead!
I may have a family dinner here tomorrow - waiting for Matt to let me know. He was going to plan a dinner, so he could tell everyone - but since we all already know, I will ask if he still wants a family day "just because"!
Yup, glad I decided not to go tonight - getting down to the 30s again, no way I can enjoy that! LOL
Let me refill my coffee and catch up with last night! ♥

Sue: SO glad Amanda didn't do anything stupid yesterday. Bet Colton was pretty excited to come over for a change! So how much is a tooth worth these days?? Yes some folks just east of us are STILL without power, should get it back today or tomorrow! Neighbors just 3 streets over from us were out for 33 hours! LOL I guess your girls don't have to worry about you turning into your DM!
YAY to being out from under your time shares. We are still "thinking", but looking forward to a trip to MB this coming spring! Another chance to "explore" the area!
Your scarecrow is so cute!
Yeah... I was NOT impressed with this girl who just looked at my arm and said I'd have to do whole only... just felt like one more thing that I always enjoyed being able to do - and she cut me down... without even a second opinion! She was just in a hurry... so yeah, I couldn't go back to work... actually just sat down and had (another) good cry... it was just the final straw for me!
LOL Nope - I already scheduled my days... will tweak if need be, but yeah - after my talk with Crystal yesterday - I am over the feeling of "needing to help"! Seems I now have Monday December 3, and then I already had Wednesday Dec, 5 off (shopping day) - so I may just take Tuesday too! Use those 4 hours and take a 1/2 day unpaid! Got a message last night that Debbie is definitely out for the next 2 weeks! SO I get to "train" Deb & Crystal (refresher training) on what I do for Debbie because I am NOT cancelling my time off next week - DC HERE I COME!
YAY for Jason trying the oils and they helped. LOL
Gabrielle: LOL I had a feeling you'd be OK with dress code! YAY for free food and drinks... sounds like a cruise ship! LOL With everything going on I think these 11 days will go pretty quickly, especially being out of town for 3 of them! Oh and I am off Monday the 28th, after our trip to DC!
Thanks for the restaurant - and for including us... will be an interesting mix of people! LOL

OK Need to get moving - before Zoë gets up... want to get a jump on the laundry - then after Ken leaves I can start my cooking! Need to pull chicken, to get it cooked up for the week - and HB some eggs... have all these things "planned" now to make sure I get myself geared up to get it done!

Morning Carole and all to come...I could have enjoyed a little more sleep but the boys were up and at 'em at 7:15!! Guess I should be grateful it was that late!
Carole...it is a bummer no Day one STD when in the hospital but 100% is awesome. We used to have that at work but then about 8-10 years ago they changed it to 60% but some employees there 15 years or more got "grandfathered" in to the 100%...I was not so lucky there! I hope they get surgery scheduled soon for Debbie's sake. I would do the same, cash in those 2 November days just to get somewhat of a paycheck this week. By the sounds, she will still be off anyway at that point so won't need the vacation days then. I have a feeling she will be off for quite a while!
You will find Carole with Timeshares that most of them are located on the East Coast and in ski areas. There are lots in places like Mexico and other tropical destinations. TONS in Disney. We realized when we were trying to plan our MI trip that the Midwest and many parts of the country were the National parks are located....NOTHING...so we would have to use hotels anyway....that was kind of the final push for us to get rid of them.
Can't believe you still have no word on the sleep study. I know for me when I had mine I didn't take any time off work....I had to arrive at 6:30 pm and they got all the things hooked to my head and other places, then they woke me at 6:00 am....I was out and home to get a shower and get to work no problem. I could have showered there but opted to head home instead. Hopefully when you FINALLY get a time it won't need to take much if any of your last hours of vacation!
Shelly....what a fun surprise at work the other day! Must have been great to catch up with your old HS friend. Hopefully it won't be as long next time between visits. Glad you posted on FB that the site was giving you issues....I had a few issues early in the week too! I'm sure it was rough getting up yesterday for your WO after your visit but I know you made it work!

Carole...glad you took a 1/2 day yesterday to enjoy apple/pumpkin picking and pumpkin carving with the girls...you needed that time to decompress and enjoy the season. Still can't believe you didn't have any of that AWESOME Maple Soft Serve....doesn't matter how cold it was...I would have enjoyed a small cone! Will say I wasn't sure I'd like it but it was some of the best soft serve I've ever had and the maple flavor was just perfect!
I love that you opted not to work today...will be eager to hear how receptive Crystal is to shuffling around tasks so you can get Debbie's stuff up to speed and get most things caught up! Makes sense to me! Good idea to walk over to the church and back....every step counts, right! I'm sure being home this weekend you will be able to get a handle on food and have a plan for the week. I will tell you my friend that NOT taking care of yourself will not help Matt or anyone....you need to make sure you stay healthy and on top of things in case you are needed to help out when Matt starts treatments.
I know you think that the next appointment on the 30th is so far away but the fact that they are gathering lots of information and consulting prior to formulating a plan is best. Yes, the fact that the lesion is localized is a very positive thing and gives the medical staff the time to really be thorough and not just jump right into treatment. They know what protocol is needed but with ALL information they can formulate a better combination specific to what Matt's case involves. One day at a time.....until everyone has all the answers, no sense projecting what could happen......
Christine...I'm sure you are exhausted getting all the test results compiled and parent reports done...I take it parent/teacher conferences are on the 4th......I keep forgetting you district started after all our boys....they have already had them or they are coming this week! I'd love to have Mondays off....I could get used to a 4 day work week!
Lisa...yay for casual Friday! Lots of homecoming festivities around here the past few weeks. I will say, it's so nice walking into a warm house after work.... We hold out as long as we can but low to mid 60's is just too cold for my old bones. I don't mind the chilly bedroom for sleeping, we don't turn the heat on in there, just high enough so pipes don't freeze anywhere but not really "warm"....usually stays in the upper 50's....perfect sleeping temp for me! WOW....hard to believe you have been at this job for 4 weeks already. Glad all your arrangements for the trust/estate planning is falling into place. Jason and I still need to redo our wills. Nothing much has changed but we want to make sure that is something happens to one of the girls before we are gone that their share goes to her boys....right now it is written that it is divided between the girls but does not have clause that then gives it to her heirs.
Jenny....a little OT is good and it is only 2 Saturdays a year so not a biggie! Hope you don't get stuck in all the traffic from the games today! What time is Audrey leaving for Homecoming?? If you don't make it home in time, hopefully someone else will get some pictures and share with you! Today I'm taking down all my summer paintings and putting up the fall ones....I usually wait until September to change them all but we were in CT, then NC, then MA the first 3 weekends....had one weekend at home, then off to NE for 2 weekends. So FINALLY today I will do it!
Carole...can't believe that Kaitlin is that "overwhelmed" that she can't help pick up the slack for Debbie by doing a task or two of yours! She really amazes me! Glad Deb is at least helping out....heck, if you get it a little early and stay a little late it will be a bit of OT, right??? Will they let you do that considering the situation?? I know some places really frown on OT! Oh my....I am amazed at some of the clothes people get away with at work....ours says no work out clothes, no beach attire.....you can wear sleeveless but not tank tops or spaghetti straps....no flip flops but you can wear sandals. Since leggings are not considered work out clothes any more lots of people wear them and they really should NOT! Their tops are not long enough to cover their caboose and it's just not a good look for anyone! Heavens, my girls are tiny and have cute figures but they even know you don't wear leggings if your shirt does not cover your caboose!
Yup Carole...we had all 3 boys and it was fun to have them all! The boys devoured the mac 'n cheese and hot dogs...then of course by the time we started the movie they were hungry....I told them 1/2 way through we would have a snack! So two had popcorn and one had an ice cream sandwich!

Gabrielle...glad you arrived safe and sounds in TX....I have found that I can only post pictures on here from my phone or iPad....can't do it from my computer?? Not sure what the issue is?? WOW, 4 am is early, I'm sure you were dragging by day's end! Nice that all the food is included and it sounds like you have some pretty decent choices too!
Oh ladies...you'll laugh at this one....I was panicked! Sarah told me teeth go for $2 these days! WOW, inflation! Anyway, Colton put his tooth in a little snack baggy and left it on the kitchen table. After I knew they were all asleep I got two $1 coins out of my wallet and replaced it. This morning I got up and Colton says "grandma, the tooth fairy left me 50¢, odd since she always leaves $2".....I was panicked!! Since it was pretty dark when I was putting it out I thought maybe I grabbed quarters instead of the $1 coins. I had him bring me the coins and I was fine...I had left $2 but he had never seen $1 coins! Not sure how we would have explained that mix up but thankfully....no need! House is now quiet again and back to normal after the chaos of the 3 boys! They were good but man oh day....boys are noisy!!
Carole...simple but busy is not a bad thing! I was getting ready to start the thread but then double checked and saw you got in ahead of me! I was just getting ready to post my "Simple Saturday" thread....GMTA!! I need simple! Been a chaotic week after vacation so it's nice to have nothing this weekend. Kellen does have a football game today but I think I'm bailing on it....Jason will go but he'll be at the lot, only about 2 minutes from the school so he will just run down and them back to the lot to finish taking the vines off the sweet potatoes! For me it's 15-20 minutes each way for a game that lasts about 45 minutes! Instead I may decide to do my shopping today so that I don't have to go out tomorrow in the rain....Colton has soccer tomorrow but we will NOT go and sit in the rain! LOL! Grandmas and Grandpas don't have to!!
Carole...please share the corn chowder recipe...I love corn chowder! I'm making squash/pumpkin soup today too so the last of the pumpkin in the fridge doesn't go to waste! Need to find the recipe! A family dinner "just because" sounds nice....with Matt's recent diagnosis it puts "family" into a whole different perspective....the important things in life!! Glad you are planning to stay home tonight....30's would NOT be my kind of temps.... Yes, I was very relieved when I saw Colton.....you never know what shenanigans Amanda can pull.....thankfully it was a non-issue!
WOW....didn't realize there were still so many w/o power! How long was yours out?? I forget!! I think Nancy was out most of the day but they have a generator so not a big issue for her! I guess with their home business they need to have power in order to work so a generator would be a must! 33 hours is a long time and so close to you....you lucked out!
So glad you are standing firm on your DC trip Carole....this week was one thing since it was a stay-cation and nothing pressing planned but next weekend you have hotels, plans, etc....they can just "wing it" while you are gone. I have a feeling Debbie might be out more than just 2 weeks but either way she will be out while you are in DC so they can just deal with it! I say take Tuesday the 4th....make it a nice really long weekend!
Jason just left so now he's out of my way so need to get the rest of the dishwasher loaded and running, then wash up whatever doesn't fit. Will make my HB eggs and maybe even the soup then head to the store.....Jason pulled a pork loin up from the freezer for tomorrow....need to pick up apples to make that tomorrow in the crockpot! Nothing super pressing that gets done this weekend, just need to regroup after being away the last two weekends and get myself back into a good planning/prepping groove!
So no more excuses....waves to all! Will pop in later! Enjoy this beautiful day!

Sitting down with a cup of tea for a bit... just not feeling "great" today... so getting a few things done - but also taking it easy.
Sue: Yeah, I can't complain about the STD - it was great when I needed it, even using 5 days prior to it kicking in. Still no word on another surgery for Debbie - she has been sent home - but nothing else is planned as of yet - I guess!?
This Timeshare company doesn't have ANY resorts in CA or anywhere out of the US! That's what's holding us back from this particular company.
LOL My sleep study "consult" has been scheduled - still no actual sleep STUDY due to no word from insurance... but the consult isn't until January 2! I.GIVE.UP.! I probably won't even do it now - as that will be a new year - new deductible to reach - just so tired of insurance dictating my health! Also with the lab in the same town I work in - I would not be coming home to get ready for work!!
Yes the afternoon was a nice change of pace form the week from Hell! UPDATE: Matt meets with the surgeon this Wednesday - consultation... and hopefully get the endoscopic ultrasound scheduled so when he goes back to oncologist on the 30th they can make a plan! He did say today that due to his size - he may have to go further out, possibly Boston - where they have more equipment to deal with large people. Locally they just don't have the resources sometimes... I am all for it - hoping he will get to MA Gen or Dana Farber.
Yes - I will milk the OT as much as I can - without giving up much here. Heck I don't sleep well anyway - may as well get up early and get to work earlier each day! Tuesday will be a shorter day as I have injections - but other than that I can do longer days each day... I was contemplating heading in next Monday - supposed to be off an extra day around the DC trip - but after my conversation with Crystal - NOPE... not giving up any more of my time! SHE can deal with the fallout - if something is non-compliant!!
LOL Oh Sue... glad you didn't mess up the tooth fairy $$ that would be difficult to explain!! I love that he has never seen the $1 coins! Well I can attest to the fact that 2 girls can be just as noisy! Zoë was not feeling up to par today either - she was very low key, and not "herself" at all today!
Yes GMTA Simple is the best I can go for right now... With Tracy's help we have squash cooked for this week - and we got the squash soup done... dishes were done - now of course there are more! Laundry is well underway... even hooked up the sump pump to get the water off the pool cover! There is a LOT of water on there - it will take a while!! Oh I'd bail on FB today too - right we did our time with our own kids... as grandparents we don't have to be at every event! Hence why I can bail on the pumpkin festival tonight - I guess my sisters are still going, but truth be told, even Jaclyn isn't keen on going any longer! Matt has decided he does not want a family dinner tomorrow - they need to hit the mall and it may have to be tomorrow. They are out of town the next 3 weekends in a row - so tomorrow he wants to be home... or hit the mall if they can't get there tonight! I am fine with it - will have a nice chicken dinner, will feed Tim, when he comes to pick up Eden but honestly the last thing I want to do is cook and serve a family dinner tomorrow!
We definitely lucked out - our power was out only like midnight to 5:30 AM! I can live with that for sure!
Tracy is upstairs doing a few things in her room - and Ken has gone back to work - think I will grab a glass of wine and head to the tub. 63 and sunny - a bit breezy but not WINDY... so I will enjoy some sunshine and just relax for a bit!
♥hugs♥

Afternoon Carole....been puttering around here getting little things done and decided to pop in and see if anyone was on! I'm sure you not "feeling great" has a lot to do with the emotional roller coaster you have been on all week...some times it's not a virus or "bug" but just stress and emotional overload....heaven knows your week has definitely caused the overload!
I'm assuming that since they sent Debbie home they must have at least fixed the blockage??? You really can't survive with an intestinal blockage. Wonder if because of all the damage they found there is some sort of underlying infection that might need to be cleared up before they do any more surgery....don't want to have open incisions with infection looming?? Who knows, just a possibility!
You have got be kidding me....January 2nd??? I get that they are busy but that is crazy! Here's my 2 cents....if there is an issue with oxygen levels while you sleep it is probably something you should follow up on...I get that having to start over with deductibles and all but that could be a HUGE piece of the poor sleeping issues! Yes, insurance is a racket and always a PITA! We are in the throws of open enrollment at the moment and this year they are offering a option with higher deductible. Jason and I are seriously thinking about it....it would save us over $800/year. Since it does not change any of the wellness, prescription, etc coverage it would only be for "sick" visits. The deductible would go up to $3000 but with $2500 flexible spending options it's a crap shoot. Last year I only had my TKR follow up with the orthopedist and my 6 month BP check....even if both of those are $85+ and Jason has the same thing....we pay them out of pocket, add it to the deductible and we are still over $400 to the good at the end of the year! Seems to make sense to at least try it this year and see how it works out. Might bite us in the a$$ but then again, it could save us a chunk of $$$ too!
I'm so glad Matt is meeting with the surgeon this week and fingers crossed the ultrasound can be completed before the follow up with the oncologist. I agree....Matt's size will be a contributing factor to whatever treatment they move forward with and going to Boston would be best as they are equipped with more resources for anything that may come up! Both Mass General and Dana Farber are WONDERFUL facilities...he would be in good hands!
LOL...yup, Crystal will just have to deal with you being off! She made the decision to not reassign a few tasks to help cover for Debbie so she can deal with the fall out!
Glad Tracy was around to help out with the squash and other chores today! I went to make the soup and the pumpkin was a bit "funky" so I didn't risk it! Did get the shrimp made that I had taken out a couple days ago to thaw for last night but I had forgotten we had the boys so I needed to get it made before I lost that! HB eggs are done, peeled and ready for the week. I opted not to head to the store today because I didn't feel like getting out of my comfy PJ pants and big T-shirt. I know I will be forced to go tomorrow but I just needed a day at home that I did NOT have to leave.....got some "spicy" Fall blends in the diffusers with some Thieves to hopefully ward off any germs and it smells yummy! Got all the summer paintings down and the fall ones are up and it looks nice....I have a few extra this year so I have the more "Halloween" ones up now and will swap for the more Thanksgiving ones in a few weeks!
BTW...no guilt about bailing on FB....I needed today just being at home! I've pretty much decided I'm done for today....will do a few little things like sort mail and plan to set up my new iPad. I think I mentioned that my old one was getting really hot at times and doing funky things so I think the processor is just too small to handle a lot of what is on it at this point. It is still working and I will have two iPad until it dies for good but since I use it a lot I wanted to make sure I had a back up. I got a decent sale from Target and of course did not go top of the line....will be anxious to see how the speed/performance compares to the old one! I just hate adding all the apps and stuff...but it does give you a chance to purge and not include stuff you haven't used in a long time! Yes indeed, you did luck out with only 5 1/2 hours with no power....did the Nor'easter bring a ton of rain?? I heard about the winds and the power outages but didn't really hear much about the rain totals. We did get about an inch on Thursday...Jason is scrambling today to get the vines cut off and pulled away today so that they can start to get the sweet potatoes out on Monday...supposed to rain tomorrow....Jason had a fear that could happen when he didn't take the vines off before we left....he could have had them off then they would have had them all out this week but he took a chance and YES....it's biting him in the caboose!
Ate a late breakfast/brunch so I'm getting a bit hungry....looks like an early dinner for this girl!
