This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Hello everyone.
Just getting us started. Mark and I are about to head out and walk the path that follows the river. It's not the hike I was hoping for, but it ended up raining all day and part of the night last night, so all of the hiking trails are going to be a soggy & muddy mess. The path that follows the river is paved, so it shouldn't be to icky. It's still overcast, a little foggy and very damp feeling here, but no rain. Well, at least at this time it's not raining.
Not much else happening here today other than the normal Sunday stuff.

Hello everyone, Lora, I hope you get to enjoy your hike. The paved path makes a LOT of sense! My plans got delayed as well, due to lingering rain. I thought it was going to stop by lunch time, but it is still drizzling now. I was thinking of you this morning while making my coffee. Do you still love your new coffee pot? I think mine makes such a good cup, every time. Andi, thank you for your kind words...I so enjoy being in touch with you all, and sharing our days. We are all fairly like-minded, I think. You mentioned your bangs being out of control...have you tried a flat iron or curling iron, to soften them, and make them go in the direction you want? I have to smooth mine every morning, and point them in the direction I prefer! Sometimes, when some ends get "wooly" looking, my flat iron smooths them out. Just wondering. Susie, the coffee sounded so fun! I am not surprised that you have a busy week ahead. That seems par for the course for you! My partner at work yesterday, is from Cumberland (lives in Flintstone now), and he was telling me that William H. Macy is from Cumberland, and graduated from Allegheny High School! I did not know that. He said that he took care of the senior Mr. Macy one time, and there was quite a hub-bub in the hospital, when Wm Macy came to visit his father. Janet, I hope you have a good week in Paradise! I laugh every time you say that Yesterday at work was a very quiet one. Thankfully. I got a long nap in! We only had one call at about 3:00 and that was it. Every now and then, I am happy to be bored. I did get to look at some job sites, and see what kind of things are out there right now. Not much, as it turns out, but I am going to keep looking. I guess I didn't get consideration for the oncology job. I would have been good for that position, but it just wasn't meant to be. I have to keep looking, because the perfect one must still be out there. I may also send a letter to the head of HR and appeal to her for a 1.00 an hour raise. There is an opening on line for a job at one of the offices in our group, starting at $2000 a year more than I currently make after 6 years. It is worth a shot. Some patients tell me that I am one of the reasons they still come to that office. They like continuity, and we have gone through several providers over the past couple of years. I am very unhappy with my office manager at the moment (she is the one who had ignored the pleas of front desk workers, about the sexual harassment, for one thing), so I am not even going to mention it to her. The last time she offered me a "raise", it was for 20 cents, and she only gave me 10! Well, I may be back later. I've ended up doing laundry today, and sprucing up around the house. I did go to the store and get a couple of things for the week. I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. Wishing a good week for all of us, RobinMD

Hello Everyone....up early and off from 7:30 - 3:30, but home now and ready to just chill for the rest of the day. It was pouring rain when I left, still pouring when I went to lunch... and just a few sprinkles on my way home. Right now it is just dreary looking, but we sure need the rain. I think we are supposed to get more on Tuesday.
Lora - hope you enjoyed the walk, even though it wasn't the one you were hoping for...
RobinMD- Yes, I bet the hospital was buzzing when Wm Macy was there - I will not hold it against him that he went to Allegany HS(where my DF went also) since that was my school's (Fort Hill HS) competition ---lol! High school football was and IS a big thing in Cumberland...not much else there anymore. Another guy, Greg Garcia, wrote for, created and produced the sitcoms "Raising Hope", "My Name Is Earl," and "Yes, Dear" among others. He has won several Emmy awards. I used to watch "Yes, Dear" all the time... and one of the stars wore a Frostburg State University sweatshirt on the show ...his character had gone to college there (which is where Garcia went to school although he was not from Cumberland). That is my alma mater too. I remember how excited I was when I saw that sweatshirt on the show - little ol' Frostburg on national tv. Glad you got a nap yesterday - and keeping my fingers crossed that you and Amanda find something better ASAP!

Hi Everyone, Yesterday was a long day. I ended up driving which I really didnt want to do so much. The other person that came with us was late because he didnt realize the time that we were leaving and he hadnt even left from his apartment which was a good 45 mins away but maybe there was maybe a slight possibilty that he would maybe drive but he didnt. The guy who was going to drive said he had a slow leak in his car so didnt feel comfortable driving his car. My friend told me today that he thinks he had that leak last week. Anyway so I drove. Unfortunately we hit some construction that slowed us down for a while. I should have checked google maps or waze I guess as we maybe could have found an alternate route to get around it but I am not even sure that would have been possible thinking about the route we took home to avoid it on the way back. We made it tho.
For me I havent been there in several years and it is very rocky there. I had to go slowly because I didnt want to fall. I let a lot of people pass me so I could take my time. At one point not that far into the hike I was thinking about turning around and just going back to the visitor center and told the other two to go ahead and I'd see them later. I decided to try going again and did make it up to the highest area where you get the best view. I however didnt venture to far out to where I guess the other two were as I couldnt see them from where I was. Then decided to head on down to take my time.
Twice I almost felt as if I was going to fall. Glad I didnt but now I just think maybe I will not be doing this again. Its a bit too risky now I think. I can still do adventurous things but this may be a bit too much now. [
br]On the way home I was going to let one of the guys drive home but he wasnt being too careful and almost ran into a ditch not far from where we left. When we got to a safe place where we could switch I took over driving. He was somewhat cavalier about it too. He said it was because he was driving a different car. He was looking in the rearview mirror instead of looking at the road. Either he could have hit another car as well. Being that I just got this car I really cant afford to have another accident or to get injured or others injured.
Today I went to the library and worked more on the conference forms and then my friend and I went to a sukka which is a structure that is outside and is decorated with various harvest items. We didnt eat out there tho because it was raining heavy.
Did a quick errand and taking care of laundry. I may start reading a new book tonight. Robin, glad that your work schedule was light. Have a good night!

Hi again,
Janet, sorry for the rough hike! And the questionable driving of the other guy. You are so right...the last thing you need is to have something happen to your new car. Good for you, for going on and going up to the top!
Susie, that's funny, because my co-worker graduated from Ft. Hill! He went to the football game Friday night, and overslept Saturday morning, HA! High school football is still pretty big around here. Geez, lots of smart and talented people came from Cumberland! It does make you proud, doesn't it!
I'm really sore this evening...I was working on a ceiling fan, standing on a cane bottom chair and trying not to stand on the cane part in the middle....well, I went to step down, and of course the chair was off balance (duh! I'm a doofus), so I went flying and landed on my left side/hip. I have a heck of a bruise, and it didn't really start hurting until last night. No injury, just sore. Not what I needed, for sure.
Well, I'm getting ready for work tomorrow, and hoping we don't get much more rain - today or this week. Everyone have a good night,
RobinMD

Good evening all. I had a very relaxing day today after a night of less than stellar sleep. Got to the gym and Macy's where I bought 2 pots since I'd scraped the nonstick coating off my old set. Yuck. I also got some little bowls to use for fruit. Then to B, B and B to buy a comforter and duvet. Lucky I'm working. Money just flows out nonstop. Came home around 2, ate lunch, or rather scarfed lunch because I was super hungry, and then took a nap, one of those naps it is really hard to wake up from. I feel great now but that probably means sleep issues tonight. Oh well, the nap was so cozy I don't mind - rainy and raw out and I was on my sofa under a blanket. So nice. Then I cooked a ground beef and asparagus dish for dinner and will have leftovers for a couple of days. Janet, where did you go hiking? It was so rainy here and I thought the rain was coming from the south so I'm surprised you were able to get outdoors today. Do you use hiking poles? It really helps with balance (and according to Lora, with snakes as well . Glad you got back safe and sound. Robin, sorry about the fall. We do such stupid things that at the moment make perfect sense. Sorry about the oncology job. I hope the right job is just around the corner for you and definitely steer clear of that office manager. What is wrong with people??? Susie, hope you got some rest this afternoon since you have such a busy week ahead. I hate having plans for every evening and in fact it rarely happens for me. I'm out Tuesday night for singing and then have to be in the city Thursday afternoon so will get home late but that's about it for me. Hope it's all fun things at least. So much for relaxing in retirement! Lora, hope the walk was enjoyable - I'm sure it was. Anything along a lake is good for the soul. Have a good evening all. I start the day out tomorrow with personal training and then an early dentist appointment so may not get here until the evening.

Andi, The hike was yesterday. The weather was beautiful. I havent used poles but it probably would have helped. Our next event is in early November in the Pine Barrens which mostly is flat and where we are going it is flat. I dont know if you ever go on route 78 to come to Pa but that is the route they are doing the construction on so if you do if there is a way you can avoid and go a different way I would. It was only one lane going both directions for a very long stretch. I was worried that the exit that we had to get off at would be blocked off. Thank goodness it wasnt.
