Kathy, I love the paper bags on the head. Maybe we Bungles fans should do that. Yikes on the 100 yard run! You are warming back up and we are goo g to be 10° colder today. The house is still toasty, so no furnace still.
Karen, how was the meeting last night? I hope you beat the rain home. Teddy somehow always knew when it was vet day. I even took him for joy rides throughout his life so a car ride would not scare him. It is better for Arya to be in the dark.
Linda, the TJ soup sounds good and so does your dinner. Mazel tov on the last day of drops for eye one. The cookbooks are from the late 19th century. The one from France is called the Encyclopedia of Practical Gastronomy by Ali-Bab. The other is from England called Mrs. Beeton‘s Book of Cookery and Household Management.
Becky, I usually like green grapes the best but these black ones are really good. We have cooling gusts of wind today but the sun is shining. I am glad the tornadoes didn’t come your way. The weather casters said there were 3 touchdowns in the Dallas area.
I woke up at 1:30 am with a headache and haven’t been asleep since. I’ve done laundry and my workout and the headache persists. I haven’t had to take anything for it yet, but it is a nagger.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Is the cookbook from France in English or French? I'll bet the Mrs. Beeton's one is quite entertaining from a 21st Century perspective. Hope that nagging headache is subsiding. You woke up at 1:30 and couldn't go back to sleep and I couldn't get to sleep until 11:30 lat night due to intense leg pain that just wouldn't settle down. I didn't even go to AF this morning as a result and have the TENS unit on right now. I did manage to do 30+ on the rowing machine without a huge amount of pain. The meeting last night was good. And, it looks like I may be passing the newsletter to the next generation. I was sitting with one of the new master gardeners who was concerned about getting her required hours next year due to her work schedule. Turns out she is a self-employed graphic designer, so perfect fit for doing the newsletter. She sent me a list of questions this morning and I responded to them. I think she is excited to take this on and will do well at it. I had someone else ask me last night if I would be president next year and the current president asked me again over the weekend. I talked to Dale last night when I got home and he's not super excited about it but ok with it. So I'll probably do it. I don't think Arya has been to the vet much in her life, so it doesn't register for her like it did for Teddy or Phoebe. For all the poking, prodding, etc., that Phoebe endured, I think she actually enjoyed going to the vet in a way because she so enjoyed people and other animals.
Linda, what a nice thing to still be tucked in with the dog late morning. Definitely get things under control so the GERD leaves. I started eating just protein, veggies, and fruit for dinner and it's helped me out a lot. Good luck with curbing the night time eating. It's a hard habit to break.
How was PT yesterday, Liz? How's the GI system? Anything from St. Crazy on the telecommute? Has your boss taken a few days to be with his wife?
Becky, those were some tornadoes in Dallas. Glad they didn't affect you, but sorry for all the destruction there. Is your weather starting to be more seasonal? I did miss the leaves changing and the smell of fall in the air when we lived there. It was also difficult to find cider.
LOL on the Bungles and the Yucs, Kathy. How much rain did you end up getting from Nestor? Did you get your coolish front yet?
Anyone else been getting voice mail messages in Chinese? I have gotten 4 of them so far. Looks like a scam targeting Chinese people in the US and try to extort money from them. With as shady as the Chinese government is, apparently many of the fall for the scam so they don't get risk getting deported. I finally made the baked cider donuts today and they turned out pretty well. The recipe made a dozen, so we have many more to eat. The first recipe I looked at called for a CUP of butter. Why bake them if they are going to have that much grease in them to begin with? This recipe only called for 1 TBSP plus an additional 2 TBSP to help the sugar and cinnamon coating to stick. We got about 1/2 inch of rain overnight and into morning. Now we have 20+ mph wind gusts as a cold front comes through. It's Fall....

Chele, my AC has been cranking today and we got up to 92. Ugh!! I think the pets can sense their human's nervousness about the vet and they know something's up. Those cookbooks sound like fun. Hope your headache has improved.
Linda, glad you got to sleep in a bit.
Karen, that sounds promising on the new master gardener taking over the newsletter. Do you think being president will take more of your time than the newsletter? I didn't hear a total for Nestor, but I know we got over 3 inches on Saturday. It rained a lot Friday and Sunday too. I've heard about the Chinese voice mails, but haven't gotten one yet. The robocalls in general have gotten worse and it seems like the "do not call" registry isn't working as well as it once did for some reason. I didn't used to get them at all on my cell and now it seems constant. Wow on the cup of butter. I think I'd much prefer the donuts you made and I bet the house smelled great after baking them. I think you're getting the same front as us, but they get very weak by the time they get down here, so no fall weather for us yet.
Waving to Becky and Liz.

Thanks for the start Chele. Now they are saying 6 tornadoes hit around Dallas. Our low was 48 this morning and our high was 78.It has been another beautiful day.I hope you feel better.
Linda I love your picture.
Karen I hope your leg feels better.Yes the weather is more seasonable.Thursday night into Friday we get another cool front with maybe more storms.Dallas was bad.We are still in a severe drought so we need all the rain we can get.Yes I have been getting those Chinese voice mails. They last 3 seconds.I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know so I let them go to VM and delete them and block the number. They just call from a different number and they are all from somewhere in the US.
Kathy They think we have seen the last of the 90's.I sure hope so.We haven't had the AC on in 2 days but have run the ceiling fan.
Liz I hope PT went well.

Kathy, I'm amazed you're still in the 90s. That's awful!! Do I think president will take more time than the newsletter? No, but there are also things I would have to do as president that I cannot do on my schedule, like committee meetings that other people set the date and time for. Hopefully there won't be many of them. I think the time commitment will be about the same. However, remember I have also been doing the secretary's job and I think between the newsletter and my secretarial duties, I may be spending less time. The guy who was president last year earned a 200 volunteer hour pin at the awards dinner. I'm very close to 300 hours for the year right now. I agree on the glut of robocalls and the futility of going on the Do Not Call list. So far I've gotten 5 messages today in Mandarin Chinese. The only part I understood was "U.S." The donuts did smell good, but it didn't take that long to bake them, so the didn't smell good for as long as I would have liked.
I like the hair cut, Linda. I'm just letting mine grow out to the color it wants. Less trouble. My grandmother had the prettiest silver hair and I think mine will be that color. I'm still in the salt and pepper phase, but have been for a number of years. Definitely yea on the newsletter. And she will take it to a level I cannot because she actually knows what she's doing. She has a degree in art and graphics where I was pretty much self-taught.
Becky, I also don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. I blocked the first two but then realized each one was coming in from a different number, all with a 404 area code. I hope you will get some rain soon, but the cool down will also be nice for you. Leg is feeling some better, thanks to the TENS unit.

thanks! Hair dye improved things greatly...a bit darker than this photo looks, whereas in daylight it was gray and weird blond.
