Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Looks like today will be sunny, then turning cloudy, but chilly.
Marsha, I am with your mom on her thinking of not coming up here. That is great that she has such a good network of help! Of course you do not want to take her away from that. Happy Birthday to your DH!! Hope he had a nice day. What a dedicated wife you are....I think I would have given up, when finding out I would have to run to the store, doing all of that before work! Was he happy with his cookies?
Gareth, put me right there with you, about being confused about licensing about stadium seats. I asked DH if we have that at Lambeau, he said some of the newer seats are. My parents package, since it is so old are not licensed. Something about when they added on to the stadium, back in the early 2000's ...(still don't get it!). It seems as if my lung congestion is breaking up so I will wait on calling the doctor.
Pinky, I see Robin answered the licensing question, but check out what I said to Gareth about our stadium. I sure would hesitate going to the chiro, if I felt like you do afterwards. In the long run you feel better, right? Have you tried the 2 ingredient pizza dough at all? It is good, and then you can build your own pizza, either as 0 point as you want it, or however you want it. I really liked it, but I have never been one to make dough, or pie crusts so of course I thought it was too hands on.
Carol, between what Robin described the seat licensing as, at her stadium and what I told Gareth, hopefully that helps.
Robin, how many fans does your stadium seat? I think Lambeau seats 70,000. plus there are standing room only places. That must have been a bummer to find out the pizza was gone. I have had that happen to me right here at home, with leftovers. Some little gremlin sneaks it away during the night, lol.
Just to make it clear about me "forcing" my DB to move......he had initiated the whole subject of moving, when he called me saying he had to get out of his house. Then my siblings stepped in with their opinions, thinking he needed to go to a senior community that advances to assisted living. I was all for that, as when he started treatments, he was not in good shape, and I couldn't see moving him to an apartment, then being on his own. Every single night, while being on my kindle, I searched for apartments, since that is what he asked for, plus senior living. I found out how expensive senior living is, and he said he only wanted to spend under $1,000. a month. As I see him getting better now, I have decided, especially after the reaction my DH got when he approached DB about using our realtor to put his house up for sale, to just ease off on all of this. I want to make it known to you all, that this whole thing of moving him is not something I am forcing him to do, but also, if you could go inside his house, for just one minute, you would truly want him out of there. Living in those conditions can not be healthy for him.
Busy day today, with my drive up to the area by our old house, for my hair apt. Then it is on to one of our grand daughters halloween party at her school. DH and I each get assigned a classroom doorway to hand out candy. We donate lots of candy, plus bags of snacks. It is so much fun, seeing what costumes all the kids are wearing.
Have a nice day everyone.

We have the sun shining bright this morning---hooray but bbrrrr its cold out there, woke up to 28 degrees. Only going to get into the 40's today but at least the sun is shining.
Karen----I did make the 2 point dough a couple of times but never used it as pizza dough---I should try that. I really liked it when I made it into more of a bagel and found it very easy. Thanks for the reminder. I have never felt like you sounded like you were forcing your brother to moving, I took it you were just looking into and see what happened. You are a great sister and I am guessing things will just fall into place as needed. Have fun at the halloween party---you are awesome to donate and help with the candy and the party.
I am waiting to hear from DH if I need to go on a parts run for him. I wouldn't mind as I would listen to my audio book which I have just started The Oysterville Sewing Circle. I finished One Step To Far yesterday and there were a lot of twists in the story--one that I never seen coming at all. I would rate it a 3.5 to 4.

Karen--I forgot to answer your thought on the chiro---yes it helps me so much to go even if the day after is tough on me. I just know it will be better and I can go for a month or two and then I go in again. A lot depends on what I have been doing, such as by the end of the summer or early fall I just get in kind of tough shape from bouncing around on the lawnmower and of course in the spring I lift some heavy bags. I also have been moving a lot of boxes from packing up stuff in the old house and taking to the thrift shop or bringing to new house or the garbage. I should ask the guys to help me but I get to impatient. I have always had good muscles for this kind of thing and I think I am wearing out, of course my neck wore out years ago and that is my biggest problem and why I need the chiro. I don't let them do the cracking and bending procedure, I go for the milder manipulation and ultrasound.

Home from work. Just had breakfast. Back to work again later. It looks nice out with the sun shining but it's cold. Only 41º late morning. Just thinking though come January I'd think it was downright balmy! Sad huh?! 🤔
Still not quite understanding the licensing of the seats. Just not seeing the purpose of it. Oh well, I've got better things to worry about! (or not!) 😆
Karen, always kind of fun driving by the old homestead. We do that occasionally but it's sad to see the disrepair it's in. I can only imagine what the inside must be like if they don't take care of the outside.
Pinky, no surprise that you need a chiropractor from time to time as busy as you always are. No wonder your body hurts! You remind me so much of my sister. She works so hard and her body rebels too.

I agree I still do not understand the licensing part either Gareth---to me if you have a season ticket why do you need it licensed? Gareth---it's like my DH says if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself. Boils down to when we are young and strong we don't think anything of doing the things we do or how can this possible affect us later in life.

Karen, I understood what you meant - I just thought the conversation re your DB moving was just that - conversation amongst us girls. No worries.
Carol, we’ve been lucky as we haven’t had the heat on for very long. Some years we’ve had to put it on mid-September. This year was about 10 days ago.
Pinky, do you see a chiropractor because of arthritis? Or is it an issue with a disc?
Marsha, how exciting that DD will be traveling! I’ve always encouraged my kids and anyone else, that now’s the time! DS2 spent a semester in Ireland and still mentions it now and again. BTW what is Birthright?
Gareth, today should be 68 degrees and sunny. Not tomorrow though. We’ll be dreaming about these temps in January.
Robin, yes, there are many outlet stores in Manchester. Of course, outlet stores are not what they used to be! But on a nice sunny day it is nice to just walk around and stop in. MetLife stadium is a beautiful stadium, isn’t it. DS1 “owns” or has license to two seats there but hasn’t been able to use them. Unfortunately, he plans to “sell” them as he probably will never live close enough to get to a Giants game. As for us, I would rather sit in the comfort of my own home - the view is always better! haha
l’m still reading A Well Behaved Woman and like it a lot. The Gilded Age was quite a time in our history. Glad I missed it!

Well, right now it is 58 degrees and pouring down rain. It should be in the 40s tonight with the high in the low 50s. I'm glad we got our heater checked out. I used it this morning. Of course, it started pouring down when I was in Walmart. Luckily, I had my umbrella with me.
Thank you for the explanation of licensed football seats. I think I get it.
Karen, I never thought you were trying to force your DB to move. I know you are trying to come up with the best solution. It's good he is feeling better. You may have answered this earlier, but what is wrong with his house? Is a hoarder or have repairs not been done and it's about to fall down?
I got a migraine last night. I think the weather has something to do with it. I took my meds and late this morning it got better enough that I could go grocery shopping.
I've never been to a chiropractor, but one time the PTA had a couple come in and give a 10 minute massage to those who wanted one. I was having trouble with my shoulder and it really made it feel better.
Marsha, I know your DD must be excited about her trip. How long will she be gone?
I was at a outlet store and found a Coach purse I liked. I bought it and checked on line about it after I got home. According to the info I found, it was one made just for the outlet stores. I liked it, but it didn't last as long as I expected.

I came in to work this morning to a payroll mess caused by our vendor's vendor and as of this afternoon it still has not been resolved. That was how I spent the whole morning. Not part of my plan for today. And it will be an accounting nightmare later on.
Karen - I would not have run to the store for the ground cloves yesterday except that there is a small grocery store about 5 minutes from my house. No way would I have run all the way to pic and save or festival. I haven't tried to 2 ingredient dough. I've made cauliflower crust - the from scratch one in the WW ap - and that was good. From what you are saying db's house is very run down, but would hiring cleaning help to clean it up make it feel more liveable? Maybe just get a quote and see what they think they could do?
Pinky - brrr 28 is cold. My walking buddy decided that the forecast 36 degrees at 6:30 this morning was too cold so we called it off for today. I think it was actually a little below that when I got up. I was willing to try with the caveat that if it's too cold we turn around and go home but when I said "or we could just stay home under warm blankets" she liked that idea better. And frankly I slept better last night than I have in a while and I was happy that we didn't go as I got in an extra half hour of good sleep.
Anngie - Birthright is a program - I don't know who finances it to be honest - but it is for Jewish young people to bring them to Israel. It is designed to solidify the connection they have with Israel as their ancestral homeland - and I don't want to get into politics here so please nobody start in on the Palestinians vs the Jews - just explaining the program. Anyway, it's for Jewish young people 18-26 and they have an organized group tour where they hit all the highlights over a whirlwind 10 days.
Carol - dd's trip is 10 days but she flies in and out of Chicago and because of the flight times we are flying her down to Chicago the day before and back from there the day after. I reserved a hotel room near the airport. Her first time alone in a hotel and she will have to get herself up in the morning probably by 4:30 to be at the airport to meet her group.
Dinner out last night with dh for his birthday was good. One of our favorite moderately priced restaurants. Fish tacos were good. He was very happy with his surprise ginger cookies and appreciative when I told him the story of running out for cloves at 6:30 in the morning.
Better get started on this morning's tasks so I can get to this afternoon's tasks so I can pay my bills!

Anngie, I actually hate MetLife stadium, but that is a whole other story. I think that more of the Gaints seats are licensed, but not sure of that. I thought if you had the licensed tickets you were forced to buy them, which he might do and then sell them on Stubhub. We actually sold some of our tickets for the last 2 games. I agree, walking around and shopping on a nice day is fun. I have found plenty of things to buy at the outlets though.
Karen, thanks for explaining the situation with DB. I can understand him preferring to live in his own apartment, and not be pushed into assisted living at his age. Thanks for reminding me about the 2 ingredient dough. I know you can also make it with 3 or 4 ingredients by using regular flour and baking powder, instead of self rising, which I never buy. I guess everyone also should remember that the dough itself isn't 0 points, only the toppings. I know some people say there is fat free cheese that is 0 points, but for such a small amount, that you really have to count points for any amount of cheese on pizza. Trader Joe's has a good one that is only 1 point per ounce.
Gareth, now I remember that Thursday is your split day.
Pinky, it's great that you can listen to an audio book while you are doing an errand.
I had a great lunch with my sister, fresh broiled whole fish. It was de-boned perfectly. I had a brussel sprout salad to start, which was a bit too lightly dressed for me, I ate too much of their delicious bread. They have a 3 course lunch menu, but I took home both of the portions of baklava to bring to mah jongg tonight.
It's a beautiful day here, too bad I am not spending much of it outside.
