TGIF - Headed to DC in a couple of hours... they moved up my time frame on me! I packed last night - think I have everything - if not, well.... Only thing left to pack will be the cooler for the car/hotel, but my Tracy will be on that when she comes down! She will be BUZZING around getting things ready!
Kinda looking forward to the drive - I usually enjoy a road trip! Should be about 8 hours... we expect traffic on the GW Bridge in NY, as there is ALWAYS traffic on the GW! LOL Once we get in the car I will pull it up on my Google Maps - in "real time", where the car GPS is NOT "real"... but leaving about 7 we should be in VA in plenty of time for dinner with the group!
Still feeling at a loss of "what can I do" for Matt... but they will be in Mystic this weekend - so we should go and enjoy our weekend away too!
Oh and his endoscopic ultrasound is scheduled for Thursday...assuming he will get the "port" for chemo at that time, but I guess that depends on who is doing the ultrasound! So 6 days of no tests - and 1 appointment, on Wednesday...
OK Let me see if I can catch up quick... otherwise I will have to try the tapatalk thing on my phone in the car!

Christine: LOL Yesterday was a pretty good day! I was doing my OWN work - as Deb wanted to do Debbie's stuff to make sure she was ready for today and Monday! Felt good to do my own stuff - at my usual pace!! I did work close to 4 hours overtime this week - but rather than get the OT I have asked to only use 4 hours Vacation time today - leaving me 4 more hours to use later... Crystal was very agreeable to that so that's nice to think about!
Hmmm wonder why the internet stopped on your laptop?? Mine goes in and out all the time - so I am thinking there was no button pushed - just "normal" if you were here!
Next week - I work on walking away from my desk - yes I will!!
Yes - cardigans are a must in my office too!!
Lisa: yes... I too am glad Matt is taking the family and getting away for a night... just to get away from things!
Jenny: OH NO! Fingers crossed DH cancer is just that one spot... {{{hugs}}} to you as you await results... Ummm, I too will enjoy mashed potatoes and gravy on TG! YAY for packing a healthy day of eating!!
I think I have found a way to not back burner ALL of my settlement - but we'll see how it goes. I may go in on a Saturday or two before the end of the year to get it DONE... but we'll see! Have to LOL I get this AWESOME Review and then the following weeks I fall apart!!
Sue: I will have to take a look at that link - it might be something Eden would enjoy... and become part of her homeschooling?? She LOVES crafts! Ahhh don't you LOVE gardening season??? Jason is never home while you are on the computer!! LOL
Shelly: YAY for preparing for your possible no power but still planning your WO!
Gabrielle: YAY for arriving in DC and having such a great day with Ed and friends!! SO glad you can just relax and enjoy! Ummm, I didn't know the marathon went to the cemetery... UGH We were going to visit there Sunday morning before heading home! Guess we may need to "adjust" our plans!?!
Yup... each doctor has a different opinion... maybe I am just a glass half empty kind of girl.... so it was a wicked blow... but - he says he is doing OK right now, so I don't want MY worries to bring him down... and yes he texted me yesterday that he will let me know when he needs something. I might take Thursday off to go to the test - but since it is "just a test" I may not... I may save my time for when I need it to help!
Hope you slept well - and are ready for another full day today.
Now I must get moving - or I will be the reason we are LATE! LOL Not like that has never happened before!
Sue: Tracy is down and has not yet stopped talking - she gets SO WOUND UP but now she is packing the rest of what we are taking!!

Hooray for Friday!!! I am so bone deep exhausted from work. I just need to finish this last project and then will be able to find a routine. Yesterday I had to drop everything and meet with the parents of a 5th grader. They were scared and in tears. They discovered their daughter's phone and she had been communicating with a predator from our area through Snapchat. My heart went out to them - they had been so careful and protective of her but 11 yr olds don't have the logic and reasoning skills of adults and omg the messages from this predator pushed all the right buttons, "You're so beautiful. I can be your true friend. We can have fun together" - the parents were hoping I could direct them to professional counselors to help their family deal with the 11 yr olds self esteem - and yes, they found pictures of her posed with a butcher knife as if she would cut herself on her arms. This is real and I did know of some colleagues who deal with girls and families struggling...late last night I received a lovely Thank You email from the mom. She was so grateful and optimistic with their choices of therapists. No big plans for this weekend - HOORAY!! - I thought about pruning the other bush but the weather looks like cold rain starting Saturday. Maybe Saturday morning I can get it done - DD23 has Halloween parties to go to - oh, and a cancer benefit for the father of her good friend - she promised the family to help tonight and tomorrow with setting up and then selling 50-50 tickets at the event - I may dash up there just to donate some small amount.

Gabrielle - how fun to be with good friends and DH for your DC adventure! Glad you had time to be tourists and maybe today relax - definitely enjoy this evening's gathering!!! Pictures PLEASE!!! lol
Carole - you are probably on the road by now ?? hopefully the traffic is manageable and you can enjoy the Get-A-Way - hoping the hotel is what you hope for and the 3 of you can take in some monuments and sights!

Jenny - HUGS to you. Oh my, I can tell this really caught you off guard and no one would have thought cancerous cells on the lip. Hopefully it is not spread - please let us know as soon as Kerry finds out. Sending you plenty of positive thoughts to patiently support DH - men can be tough patients! Keep us in the loop -
Lisa - Happy Friday!!! And now you can enjoy the true meaning of it!! LOL

Well....the mom situation takes a turn.....this is the email I woke up to this morning....it was written at 3:38am.....seems DM will be coming back to Raleigh....my head is spinning....can't think and don't want to deal with now.....
Dear Family, I have made a mistake. I am nearing the point of a nervous breakdown. I am completely unable to care both for my mom and Jim’s mom. Please discuss alternate care for Nanie in Raleigh. We can fund Nanie’s transition back to North Carolina: moving expenses, and flight with personally transporting her back. She has stated several times how much she misses her North Carolina friends and doctors. Not too long after Nanie arrived, she stated that she liked the nursing wing of Universal Healthcare North Raleigh and had wanted to stay there. Not only that, she also knew that she could afford to stay there because what happens is they end up taking all of your income, except $100, and then the state and federal government cover the rest of the monthly cost through Medicaid. When we made the decision to move her here, that was two pieces of information we did not have time: she wanted to stay and could afford to stay where she was. Whereas her heart is good, her health is falling apart in every area, and I simply cannot keep up with the demand. Additionally, we’re having issues with a lack of adequate care with All Care. Nanie seems to need nursing care: pain management, medication management, showering, meals, dressing, a medical aide’s response to ongoing care needs, etc. I’ve tried to remain positive in my emails in the past, but now I’ve reached the tipping point.

Good morning!
Really? Morning already? I think that I might actually need a nap today! I slept fine once I got to bed, but it was awfully late. Marathon is still two days away so I will make up for it. Today is the "expo" where we get numbers, details, walk through vendor booths, etc. There is a marine ceremony before that we are going to try to make it to see--trying out the Metro today to be sure that we know how to use it as well. We did a lot of sightseeing yesterday, so today will be more low key.
Carole: Safe travels to you...I am such a geography-challenged person that I had no idea you had to cross a bridge in NY to get here. I hope that the drive is a good one--I like a good road trip too. Sounds like Tracy is stepping up to help (yay!)...I am going to text you a map of the marathon route. The whole finish, etc. is at Arlington Cemetary so that would be a tough place to visit. It might be hard even on Saturday (we drove through it on our tour last night and the Marines have tents and all kinds of things set up.) I can't imagine that they could close it though. You will want to see the route for Sunday as it will effect a LOT of roads. It would be worth not driving around (if I were you) until after 1:00 pm or so.... at least not right in the city. So happy....will see you soon.
Christine: Oh WOW. I am so glad that those parents reached out to you! The authorities are involved, I assume? So, so scary and also THANK GOODNESS they found her phone and were able to step in. Yes, you are right...can't control the internet but, hopefully, can help her with how she responds. So glad that you are there to help out! That would be very exhausting. Sounds like DS23 is still a social butterfly, LOL. Hope that you can get the rest that you need this weekend. Yep, we will post pictures! My phone was almost dead by the time we got back late last night--lots of text from listserves that I am on due to the power outages and I think they use up a lot of battery time. Today should be better.
Hello to Sue, Lisa, Jenny, and Shelly. Hope that you all have a good day. I can probably post tomorrow but will be out of touch for a couple of days with the marathon and flying out at 6:40 am on Monday. I will still try to get a few pics on FB though. Have a good weekend!

Sue: WHAT? Is that email from Jim's wife??? What? I can see why you are confused! Can you all schedule a facetime together or something to talk it all through? Sounds like more information is needed. I am SO sorry! What a rough start to your day!! Hugs to you -- not sure how you can concentrate on work with this on your mind. I am sorry....

Got a couple minutes to try and catch up a bit more before I head out for work...TGIF! Looking forward to a fun night of painting with friends to take my mind of the whole DM situation...just when I thought things were turning around, they are going right back to the same damn mess! Sorry, I'm a bit angry at the moment. I thought Jim & Annie knew what they were getting themselves into and had figured out she could not afford to live in Raleigh....guess they missed a few pieces. I think they were looking for something to keep her independent, not just put her in a nursing home which is what the facility they reference is....the same facility that got 2 stars! UGH....sorry to ramble...the email just caught me off-guard.
Carole....as always thanks for starting us off before you head to DC....make sure to wave as you go by!! Make sure to pack some rain gear...could be a little soggy in DC this weekend. They are calling for rain Saturday afternoon and Sunday....will be in the 60's so not too chilly but still soggy!
Work it Wednesday had plenty of steps for me and my eating has been pretty OP....scale actually was showing downward movement yesterday...not a lot, but at least down! Ah yes, the "clean out the fridge" week of creative meals. Sounds like you have enough stuff to get through the week and leave nothing in the fridge to become a "science project"! LOL!
Still amazes me Carole that the settlement process is so "gray" as you call it...I always thought numbers were black and white....heck 2 plus 2 is always 4.....fingers crossed Crystal takes a look to help out while Debbie is still off and you are wearing multiple hats.
Yes, it is a good idea for Matt to do a group email so everyone it on the same page and that too will cut down on him and Patty getting bombarded with questions....everyone knows the same thing and he won't run the risk of forgetting to share something with someone. I'm sure they are both in a blurr of a world with the diagnosis, so many appointments, so many still unanswered questions....then add Zoe in the mix, wanting her life to be "normal" amidst the chaos....it's a lot to process I'm sure! Hugs to all of them....it's going to be a rough patch for a while.
Still waiting for my labwork results...they are super slow this time. I will say, as soon as I got my flu shot I got out my deep relief roller that I use usually for my lower back aching and rolled it on my arm and gave it a good massage.....guess what....no sore arm. Convinced Jason to try when he got home, he got his after work and his arm didn't hurt the next day either. My arm usually hurts for days after my flu shot!
Glad Tracy is leaning toward taking the new job offer...sounds like there are so many positives and will be a good fit for her in many ways and for the long term for her working career.
Carole...I need every minute at my desk but thankfully a lot of my job I do have to move. I will say on days I'm stuck at my desk, I still move....I have a reminder in outlook that pops up at quarter of the hour.....I'm gone about 2 minutes to BR, cafe for more water or just walk the lower floor loop, then back to my desk....it helps my back, keeps my knees from getting stiff and just gets the blood flowing....
OK....need to go....will likely catch up in the morning....won't be home until late tonight!
Safe travels Carole....waves to everyone else!

Here are the responses from David and Katie....this is going to get ugly!!!
No. And this is coming from only me. I'm really angry right now. You made this decision, you have to live with it. Just as we lived with the decision to move Mom from the Cape to NC. You come for a weekend and turn our lives upside-down by having made this decision even before you came to visit. I'm sure there is a nursing care wing at another place there in San Antonio. I'm sure it's still cheaper to live there. We already spent all this money to get her there. It's only been a few months. Don't let her emotionally manipulate you. That's what she is doing. It will definitely get easier when you move her to a nursing care facility and you don't have to be doing all the things for her anymore because the facility will be doing it for you.
If you do move her back here, I want the $2000 we spent to move here there back too.
Katie Olson
Seriously....what did you think was going to happen when you took away her pills. I suppose she can be an addict in any state. I just won’t condone the behavior or feed the negativity. I limit my exposure to Mom for a reason....partially my addiction and partially hers.
You do what you need to do to get by.....we couldn’t afford the last move, so it would absolutely be 100% on you. Though I find it hard to believe you can’t find proper care right in San Antonio. We’re not eating this one.
Never forget, you’re dealing with a full blown addict.
Best of luck.
David

Good morning! Today is the day I'm working 11:30-4 to answer phones for the building wide "clean" so I'm feeling like I should be running out the door, but I'm going to get a few errands done, and even see if by any chance that Vivian might have an opening to cut my hair. I always have to pause to click on the 50's since I'm a member of the 60's club now.
Gabrielle-glad you have a nice place to stay and time to do some sightseeing! Yes get your rest caught up before the marathon.
Carole-have a safe drive, sometimes I like the solitude of a long drive. I understand the feeling of wanting to be able to do something for Matt, just your love and support is my best answer.
Jenny-wow that is unexpected news from a regular checkup! Praying it will be very treatable in early stages. I'm sure it was a shocker.
Sue-And you had a shocker email too! OMG - all I can say is that if something is too overwhelming you need to ask for help and if Mom misses NC, it might be ok, but why not talk to everyone at least in a phone call to discuss it first? My head would be spinning too...I hope you can relax with your painting night.
Christine-I'm sure you did a great service to that family, I sure wouldn't know what to do or where to go for help and support. You hear about these things on the news, but when it shows up in your community, it gets real fast.
Shelly-SNOW? Even though on the 10 day forecast for here, they are predicting a few flurries on Halloween. So hard to accept that it's that time of year again, and time change coming up. Safe travels!
Normally I would be going out the door now, but don't have to for 3 hours...feeling really like a weird day. I am going to wait for breakfast and have a brunch since I'm working over normal lunch time.
Tomorrow is Joe and Tiffany's moving day and it is supposed to rain late morning. They are getting the uhaul at 9 so I hope we can get it loaded quickly but she has a lot of heavy totes, etc. Greg can't do moving stuff up and down stairs, so we will have 7 of us who can unless more friends show up. At least once loaded, it's a 15 minute drive to new place, and that's a few stairs down I'm told, or we can move things in the patio door, but it looks like that's a longer route than taking the stairs. that reminds me that I need to get to FIL's house to borrow hand truck. Even though we can't use it on steps we can use it from truck to door and that will still help save backs!
Try to BBL - TGIF!

Evening all.....finally made it to Lubbock around 7 this evening. I was very upset 😡 today. I had planned on leaving work around 10 or 11 but my girl Samantha did not show u. She did not have minutes on her phone and no WiFi so she couldn’t get ahold of us. I was mad because I told her she could’ve gone to a neighbor house and called. Any way I finally sent someone looking for her since she lives like 15 miles away and I got a little worried that maybe she had a wreck. She finally got there at 12ish and I laid into her big time. Carole. Hope you got to DC without any issues. And how nice you was able to work on your stuff yesterday. Glad Matt and family was getting away for a day Enjoy your trip and remember Matt will let you know when he need help. I know it’s tough and to many questions without answers right now but. They will get answered. Gabrielle good luck on your race!!! I will be thinking of you this weekend. Enjoy your time away Sue.....what the heck? ?? WOW WOW WOW!!!! How is it they think they can disrupt everything and then just drop DM back on you guys. Hope everything gets resolved

Christine so glad the parents found their daughter’s messages. That is so scary. These kids have no idea what these guys are capable of.
Lisa I’m sure going in late was weird. Hope everything went well for you
Ok I have a swollen eye so I’m going to put a hot compress on it and go to sleep. Got to get up early. It’s going to be a long day. Talk to you all soon.
Btw I apologize if I miss typed as I was falling asleep as I was typing and my eye was making it hard to see.
