I really need a SIMPLE Sunday...feel a headcold coming on...started Friday night and I've been taking Airborne tablets every 3-4 hours as directed. Seem to be helping but UGH... Rainy day here today. And I plan to have a quiet Sunday reading and looking up some Recipes... Yesterday I did conquer the 2nd large tall bush in front of our house. You can see the windows now! Loaded all the cut branches into my Equinox and drove straight to the Recycle/Compost Center. Feels good to have accomplished that - stopped at Lowes on way home to pick up more clear Leaf/Lawn bags for raking leaves next...I knew today would not be that day to start raking because of the rains but I'm ready! Planning on simple meals this week - picked up turkey breast, beef cubes, and will also try my hand at homemade mac'n cheese

Gabrielle - GOOD LUCK today!!! Don't let the rains bother you!! So proud of you just for getting this far! Hopefully you can check in later tonight and let us know how you did Sue - how was your evening with the Y Group? Sounds like several others also really look forward to getting together too! It's great that all of you keep it going...and WOW to the latest Amanda antics! I'm with you - really?? - after 2 weeks she has brought Colton into the 'let's play Family' mix? Ugh...I remember how off the deep end she went when Josh and Sarah got MARRIED for pete's sakes! I am so shocked about Annie's knee jerk reaction at 3AM to email all of you saying she Quits. Really? Like David and Katie haven't been trying for YEARS to get DM healthy? Just like Katie suggested, place her in a proper affordable Nursing facility and let the professionals take over. STOP investing your emotions in helping an addict. Wow to the 'tough talk' both David and Katie shared! What are your thoughts? Carole - I believe today you are driving home right? How did yesterday go with sight seeing? I did see you were able to get close to Arlington Cemetery - good! I knew that was on your bucket list but feared the Race may interfere - I bet you got plenty of steps in over the weekend! Was the hot tub at your hotel working last night?

Shelly - WONDERFUL!!! Hooray Keeley!!! She did it! That is so exciting and I'm so happy you had the chance to watch from the audience! What a special accomplishment and awesome comments from the one judge afterwards! You must have felt so proud of Lexi too trying up there on the stage - yes, the facials are great!! lol My Lindsey was always into the facials and showing a little 'sass' lol Makes for a fun performance!!
I'm reading a fictional novel about Southern Baptist preachers and they mentioned, "people pouring in from Lubbock!" I know where that is!!! lol
Lisa - how did the Move go? Hopefully you were able to load the U-Haul before heavy rains started. The wind really kicked up here too - as long as it shakes those trees real good then blows the leaves OUT of my yard I'm fine!! LOL Do you have a lot of trees in your yard? The colors of the leaves changing this Fall were stunning! First time in years we actually had a beautiful Fall and not just wet and cold.
One of DD23 Carly's dear dear friend since their Dance days got engaged! We are so happy for Sarah!

Jenny - I am so sorry for DH Kerry's diagnosis - let us know the next steps for him. How are you doing with all of this?
Okay, time to get breakfast - then finish laundry before claiming my spot on the couch!!

Good morning Christine... I am hoping for a simple Sunday for sure. Been awake awhile... finally decided I could NOT lie there any more, so threw on clothes and came down for coffee. Both Ken and Tracy were sleeping soundly, until I was getting dressed. Ken was getting up to come down with me, which made me angry! Ugh... go back to snoring... I can use the time alone! Geezee...
The TV is on, saw coverage of the marathon but didn't see Our Gabrielle!LOL
Yes we are headed back home today... hoping the rains don't hinder our travel time. Expect to be on the road by 11, check out time, and hope to be home by 8. Allowing an extra hour home than what it took to come down, as travel home always seem to be slower.
We all have tomorrow off, so no need to hurry.
Now I will try to catch up on the past couple of days.

Christine, yay for your Friday, glad you have a couple of days to rest and regroup. Oh dear... that poor mom! Thank goodness you were able to get them in touch with someone who can help. How awful and scary.
Sue: OMG... seriously? How could Jim and Annie not have had that info before arbitrarily making the decision to move DM?
Gabrielle: Today is the day! Do you and Wendy start together? I do not understand how these thing work. Does L ise start before you guys?
Oh Sue, my heart breaks for you... can you call DM and ask what she truly wants? I thought she was happy to be in this place in TX??? What happened?
We had a beautiful couple of days, few raindrops yesterday in DC but not hot, not cold...perfect weather for walking about 9 miles in the day. I had wished for more sun, but then it may have been kind of hot. Today appears to be breezy and rainy...but well be in the car so no worries.

Good morning all from VERY soggy Glenville.....we were supposed to get a 1/2" of rain today...Jason left for church and we already had .6" and when he got home an hour and a half later we had 1.3" and the rains are still coming down like crazy!
Woke to this brief email from Annie....I guess our responses to the original email that blindsided us all made them realize that we all knew what they were getting themselves into and we all knew that a nursing home was actually the reality that would come soon and they just kept holding out that they could "fix her".....she does not want to be fixed and if she were to go back to NC Kris would send her spiraling downward even more. I still feel that in a nursing home where the staff control her meds and she gets them only as prescribed she will improve as she already has in TX...I know that many people live many happy years in a nursing home if the facility is a good one they will have the activities and socialization that will do her good....starting to feel like less stressed and overwhelmed with the whole mess!
Thank you for your input. We’re ready to carry on.
May the Lord bless you all,
Annie
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Back to yesterday afternoon to see what I missed after we left....
Shelly...so happy for Keeley! We knew she could do it!! Hope she has some good fundraisers to help with the expenses of the Disney trip. I remember the $$ back in our gymnastics days....it's not cheap when the competitions involve travel, hotels, fees, etc.... So glad Lexi had a great first competition too! Sorry your eye is still bothering you...fingers crossed it goes away soon. I know Jackson has had sties and they don't do much for them usually. He did end up going to a specialist because he kept getting them over and over but since then he hasn't had any. Fingers crossed you don't have to go through that....
Christine....thanks for getting I started today....I was a lazy bones....we didn't get home until after 11:00pm....had a great time as always with so old friends. Most of us have been friends for over 30 years now.....we get together a couple times a year and it's like we get together every week or two!! I love it!
Hope the Airborne keeps the headcold from getting any worse....I took the EO version for our trip and the week after we got home and so far I've missed anything ugly. I also used my wellness and Thieves rollers when Rowan got sick and maybe that helped too. The time has come for my daily Thieves tea at work. I'm with you, I was going to go shopping today but with the rains, I'm not leaving the house! I can stop one night on the way home for a couple things. Jason is going to bring up some chicken thighs today and I'll make some soup....nothing supper heavy! He's on clear liquids today for his colonoscopy tomorrow so he will be hungry when I pick him up after work but I know he might not want anything too heavy so figured Chicken Soup would be something good.
YAY Christine for conquering the 2nd bush....did Carly and Gary critique your pruning techniques again?? WOW, even got the branches to the compost center too! LOL, Jason doesn't rake...he mows the leaves and bags them as he goes...they get all mulched up and then spreads them over the garden to break down even more over the winter. Sarah does the same thing for him down at her house....they have a HUGE red maple tree and once the boys are done making piles and jumping in them she just mows over them and piles them up in the back of the garden so Jason can mulch some spots there too in prep for next season's garden.

Gabrielle....the rains are ending here now so hopefully they had ended in DC a while ago and you could finish the marathon without the "shower"! At least it's warm today.
Christine....we had a blast last night....we laughed so hard at times my sides were killing me! It was fun to see each of Vonnie & Joe's girls too.....their youngest Meghan and her DH are living in their basement at the moment....they sold their house and haven't found a new one. They are expecting their 1st little boy on March 1st....Meghan is hoping she doesn't have a "Leap Year" baby! They are hoping to have a new home and be out of the basement before he arrives. Kaylyn their middle daughter and her DH stopped in for the evening with their 2 boys, ages 4 & 2....they are expecting boy #3 the end of November, I think her due date is Rowan's birthday 11/25. Emily the oldest stopped in for a bit with her oldest twins, Crimson & Champlin who are 3....her oldest daughter, 5 and youngest twins 18 months were home with Daddy! Yes...you read it right....Emily has 5 kids under the age of 6....Irelyn will be 6 on 11/12 and is in kindergarten....the twins with her were just 3 in September and the youngest twins, boy/girl set as well were a year in April.....Em always said she wanted 5 kids but never exactly expected them all on a heap!
OK, so it's not just me with the "Amanda antics"....as I said, I hope she finds someone and has to deal with the "blended family" thing from the other side but I still feel like after only a couple weeks of dating it's too soon to bring the kids into the mix....
Yes, I was shocked at Annie's email....unfortunately Annie has always been one who looks at life with Rose-colored glasses and is always full of "popsicles and sunshine" thinking nothing is impossible....on the flip side, she thinks the world is evil and has to protect her kids from it....heck, she's married to an addict so not sure why she thought DM who at the moment is a full blown addict was going to be a "walk in the park"? I'm with David and Katie 100%....while I didn't help with the expenses this time, not that I didn't offer but both the boys said no....Jason and I are too close to retirement and have worked and struggled to get what we have so they both told me no. Jim didn't help with the move from the Cape to NC and that one cost Jason and I about $4000.....and that was right around Hannah's wedding and the Sarah's wedding it was years before that got paid off because it all had to go on credit cards.
The hard thing for David and Katie was the fact that when we made the decision to move DM to NC she thrived.....she did great, was involved and while she was still "Judy" she was engaged, active and doing well at her original apartment. Kris at that time was still in MN and struggling with her own addiction and then married Brett a fellow rehab buddy who both spiraled out of control until Brett died. After he died, Kris had no one to take care of so she came to NC to take care of DM and that was the beginning of the end.....she spiraled even more, lost everything and was put out on the street. That's when she moved into Oxford House, a sober living house, began to really influence DM.....she was toxic and DM began to withdraw and deteriorate. While I didn't see it with my eyes and interaction on a daily/weekly basis like David and Katie, I dealt with it on the phone each week.....
