Karen, thanks for the start. I did get a new phone. One good thing about going from Apple to Apple is that all the apps transfer over in the same order and folders you had before. What kind of bread did you make yesterday? Is your last newsletter done and dusted.
Liz, what a bunch of red tape you have to go through just so you can help St Crazy out while you are recuperating. I am glad the weekend family visit went well. DS sounds like me and my DM. You get into a certain way of dealing with a family member and it is hard to break the habit. I am sure it is hard for her to adjust but good that you can steer her into a better way of doing things. Has the hip recovered from all the sitting? The tabbouleh turned out great. Meijer had some really fresh parsley.
Kathy, congrats to all your football teams. The Bungles are still winless. 😩
Becky, there may a setting under Sounds and Haptics that may need to be adjusted or maybe the Silent Mode switch above the volume buttons got flicked to on. Both have happened to Iggy and me.
Linda, beautiful painting in your avatar. We’ve been calling cottage pie the wrong thing for decades.😆 I hung onto my 7+ as long as I could, trust me. I couldn’t take the chance that the one time I needed it to charge it wouldn’t. Amazing how we managed to live our lives for decades without a phone in our pocket and now most of us feel lost if we forget it at home.
I spent two hours at the Apple store yesterday morning. I arrived just as the doors were opening and there must have been a dozen people waiting to get in. You have to check in and get your name on the list and then wait for an associate and then you have the rigamarole of transferring data and erasing data from the old phone. Having your face unlock the phone is weird. I stopped at CVS on my way home for a flu shot and it was the pharmacist who gave me the jab. He was better than the nurse at my doctor’s office. I didn’t even feel it go in. I feel tired and listless today and I am sure that is the flu shot aftermath.
Everyone, have a good day.

Chele, congrats on the new phone. It is amazing how we survived for so long without them. The Dolphins are also winless. They should play the Bungles so at least one of them would have a win.

Congrats on the new phone, Chele. Nice that everything is seamless from one phone to the other. Some of my stuff was there going from Motorola to Motorola, but I still had work to do. Does it also transfer your wallpaper? Your phone buying experience sounds just like my latest one, including the sign in process and rigamarole, but minus the face unlock. That does sound weird. Interesting that the pharmacist gives better shots than a nurse who you would think gets more practice. You're probably right about feeling the way you do today complements of the shot. Good exuse to get a little R&R. Newsletter isn't done yet. I send the deadline email tomorrow and the goal is to get it out by next Thursday or Friday. Sorry about the Bungles. Do they play the Dolphins? Kathy had a good idea about how one team or the other could get a win. The bread Dale likes best is the Honey Bread, which is one of the recipes in the Basic section of the Zo manual. I used to make him the cinnamon raisin and then we started noticing that if the raisins were dry, it didn't come out as well. Soaking them didn't help, so we switched to the Honey Bread.
Kathy, congrats on a good football weekend. One of my alma maters, Appalachian State (aka App State) is in the same boat UCF has been in past seasons--undefeated and only ranked #20. How much party planning did you get done this weekend? When's the big event?
WOW on 20 minutes a month on the phone, Linda. I use mine a lot and the data is on all the time. I never go anywhere without mine. It's funny how quickly they have become such a part of our lives. How long does it take to do an oil change that you dropped it off to pick up later? My Subaru dealer does that, tire rotation, tops off fluids, and checks all the systems in 45 minutes or less. Congrats on the garage door. Battery back up is nice to have. That's insane that you seem to be having so many problems with it. How old is it? We were about 10 degrees warmer than you this morning. Guess we have that front coming our way.
Liz, I agree that you are having to jump through a lot of hoops in order to help St. Crazy by telecommuting a bit earlier than they would have otherwise have you back. How's PT been going and how's the hip doing after all that sitting on Saturday?
Hope the Astros can take tonight's game, Becky. I'm ready to move on from baseball. Lady Vols basketball also starts tonight. Are you having cool temperatures like Linda is?
I have a brand new temporary crown and the numbness is finally starting to wear off. Also, we had a little incident and I got jabbed with the drill on the floor of my mouth and he had to put in a stitch. So when the numbness wears off, I have that to deal with as well. I was thirsty when I came out of the dentist and tried to get a drink from my travel mug but couldn't do it. I made a protein shake when I got home and am sipping it through a straw. I guess it will be soup for dinner but not sure what else. Had a decent AF workout and stopped at Aldi before my appointment. It was almost $80 because I needed just about everything to cook for Arya this weekend. BTW, we celebrated her 2nd Gotcha Day yesterday. Can you believe she's been here 2 years?

Linda, I love your fall painting. I mostly use my phone for calls and texting. Once in a while, I'll take a picture with it. It is really handy when traveling though and I use it more when I'm away from home. I also like having it in the car.
Karen, it looks like the Dolphins and Bengals play in December, so one of the teams is guaranteed to get at least one win. I think it's a flaw in the college playoff system that there's really no way for a team outside of the big conferences to get in. If UCF had gone undefeated for the third year, I think they would've at least been in the conversation, but still not guaranteed to get in. I do think the team they had a couple of years ago with the star QB would've done well in the playoffs. They beat Auburn in a New Year's Day bowl that year and Auburn had beaten at least one of the teams in the playoffs. They haven't been quite as good since the QB was injured and they also lost some other players to the NFL and injuries, so this year just hasn't been their best.
The big event is Saturday with minor events on Friday and Sunday. Several of my cousins from Delaware and NY are coming down, so they'll be in NSB for the whole weekend. We're expecting about 40 people. Hope the mouth heals quickly. It's bad enough going through that without the dentist inflicting more pain! Congrats on the 2nd anniversary with Arya. It is hard to believe she's been with you that long.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele Did you get the Iphone 11?It's good they could transfer your apps.Going from a prepaid Android to a post paid Apple I had to download all my apps again. If we were near each other I would hug you.I had bought a military grade case for my XR and it was hard to click the right side button twice to confirm apps so I decided to get a vinyl clear case but couldn't get the phone out of the better case.I found someone at Walmart to take it out of there a week ago or so.It was so hard to get out of there and that must have been when the silence button got pushed.I didn't have that feature on my Android phone and the mobile tech told me about it at Best Buy and I forgot about it.When I read your post a light bulb went off in my head.I checked it and had Kenneth call my phone and sure enough that's what the problem was.You saved us a trip to Bastrop. That's a long time to spend at the Apple store.
Linda I'm glad you got a discount.Wow you were colder than us this morning.
Karen At first I thought the face unlock was weird but I like it now.You have to do it twice to get it set up.It's better than putting my passcode every 5 minutes or however long I have been off the phone.I hope the Astros win tonight too.I am not a season long baseball fan.In fact I'm not a real baseball fan at all unless the Astros or other team I like is in the World Series. Our low was 53 this morning and it got up to 55 now back down to 54.It's been cloudy and a little windy all day with a little sprinkle this morning.A cold front is supposed to be here sometime tomorrow and by Halloween night it's supposed to be in the mid to upper 30's.It's supposed to be cold on 6th Street.I'll just stay in thanks. How in the world did the dentist have that kind of mishap?

Linda, you still have Radio Shacks? Ours closed a few years ago! That used to be my go to place for converters, but now I usually can find what I need on Amazon. Sounds like you missed your true calling as an IT person. Glad it was just a mistake and not someone using your insurance.
Becky, we're still stuck in the 90s with lows in the 70s. I guess I shouldn't complain since I don't want the 30s either!

Linda, you've had quite a day! That's strange on the Walgreen's. Oops is right! They can't make it easy so a battery fits everything that takes that voltage. Good that you're such a techie. I meant to mention the painting. Very nice! Did you do it from a photo or from memory?
Is your new avatar DM's invite, Kathy? So tropical! Nice that you'll have family from far away coming. I would definitely stay for several days if I was coming from that far away. Are they flying or driving?
Becky, I have a swipe pattern to unlock my phone, so it's not too difficult. We are watching baseball and listening to basketball. Of course, I don't feel like cheering much because it makes my mouth hurt. Go, 'Stros!! You didn't have much of a temperature difference today. That's pretty weird. And the cold front hasn't even come through. Definitely will be cold on 6th Street. But most of them won't even notice.
The dentist situation was one of those flukey things. According to the tech, she has worked for him for 16 years and this was only the 3rd time she remembers it happening. You know how your body automatically processes saliva while you sleep so you don't choke on it? Well, it's apparently the same when you are numbed up, and my body swallowed when he had the drill close to skin and I got nicked. It's really uncomfortable now that the numbness has worn off. I'll paint it up good with Anbesol before I go to bed and hope that will numb the pain. I ate a popsicle a little while ago and it helped.

Kathy We were almost up to 80 yesterday and now it's 51.Tomorrow night the real cold front comes in.I guess this was just a little cool front with drizzle every once in a row.I think we have a 90% chance of rain tomorrow but today was at 70% and we haven't gotten any measurable rain.We have a place in Elgin I think it's called Elgin Electronics but it has all the Radio Shack products in it.The store isn't very big.
Karen I think the game is going to be a nail biter. No very little range in temps today.KXAN was saying we would have a low of 54 and that was the 5:00 news but it's already down to 51.We are looking at maybe 59 to low 60's tomorrow. When I had my Moto G6 play I could swipe it but still had to unlock with my passcode but I could set it to stay unlocked for 30 min.Now with the Iphone xr it's 5 minutes or never and I do like the lock feature so I keep it set for 5 minutes before I have to unlock it.I have to wake it up with the side button that also has Siri on it and either do the passcode or face unlock. The face unlock is so much easier and faster so I prefer it.Actually it will just be in the 40's Halloween night so not too bad and it's supposed to be dry by then. The Stros were lucky to get out of that last inning without a score against them.I use Ambesol when I have a sore under my dentures. It's good stuff.I hope you feel better tomorrow.
