This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ************************ Trick or treat, smell my feet. Give me something good to eat. If you don't, I won't be sad. I'll just make you wish you had!

It is going to be a cold, windy, wet Halloween here. The temperatures are dropping and will be in the upper 30s at trick or treat time. If I were a parent I would take the kids to the Convention Center for Trunk or Treat.
Becky, Karen, my condolences on the Astros loss.
Liz, how are you feeling after your 2 lb ankle weight workout? You are gaining a lot of strength at PT as it should be. Poor Wally! Teddy had eye issues, so I know what you mean about the ointment. How are the joints today? Do you have access to what you need to work?
Karen, that cartoon is hysterical. I like what that person said about beggars. We were going to pull the plants last weekend but it rained. That is on the agenda for Saturday. I hope getting the stitch pulled is uneventful. I hope you have a good Osteo session.
Linda, you do have persistence. I hate dealing with the hardware.
Becky, I hope you are keeping warm. Our heat will probably kick on later today as the temps drop. I broke out a sweatshirt yesterday but had to change when I started cooking. Too hot.
Just finished my workout and I have some laundry going and need to pay bills, so I am off. Have a great Halloween.

Chele, thanks for the start. LOL, on the "smell my feet" chant. Haven't heard that one for a long time. We're heading to the 90s again and they said it will be in the 80s for the trick or treaters tonight. The malls around here used to have events for the younger kids, but I don't know if they still do. I'm starting to pack, but DS sent me a pic of her trunk and it's full of party supplies! I think DBIL will also be taking his truck, so hopefully we'll have room. DN is only coming over on Saturday, so he is driving separately. I hope 3 vehicles are enough. Waving to all and hope you have a good day!

Thanks for the spooky start, Chele. I haven't heard that Trick or Treat poem for a long time. Cold, windy, and wet here as well. A lot of the churches do Trunk or Treat around here. If I had kids, they wouldn't be going out in this weather. I wouldn't have gone out in it if I hadn't had to. Are you expecting a lot of little goblins tonight? I would say enjoy your laundry and bill paying, but neither is that much fun. I loved that cartoon, so I'm glad you were able to read it. It pays to have basically no neighbors, so no kids to trick or treat here. They couldn't get past the gate anyway. I hope the cold will stamp out your allergies so you'll be able to work comfortably outdoors on Saturday. When the wind and rain die down (hopefully before dark), we are going to cover the tomatoes and peppers that remain. The kale, rutabaga, and kohlrabi will actually do better after the frost. Thanks for the condolences. All I could say this morning was coulda, woulda, shoulda. The Nats apparently wanted it more.
Kathy, LOL on whether 3 packed vehicles will be enough. How close is the party venue to where you live? Hope all goes well and everyone has a great time, including the party-givers, and especially the guest of honor.
How's your PT and related exercises going, Liz? How are Wally's eyes? Poor little guy. Any plans for the weekend? When's your first telecommute day?
Linda, you had quite a day yesterday. Some days it would be so much easier without technology. How is Micki doing? Is your weather remaining unseasonably cold? Are you expecting Trick or Treaters? Enjoy dinner and your clean kitchen. What cute bassets! My girl would not tolerate being costumed.
Well, Becky, what can we say? The starting pitcher pitched better than I've ever seen, and I saw him quite a bit when he was with Arizona because they are in the same league as the Giants. Astros bats just went cold and the Nats wanted it more. I'm pretty bummed but very happy baseball season is finally over. I am so ready to move on. Has your weather warmed any?
Today has been what one of my nephews used to say when he was about 5, "shoo nassy". A small part of my drive was rain free and I even had my sunglasses on for a brief time. When I got to Knoxville, the skies were black as a severe t-storm rolled through. Most of it was while I was at Earth Fare. Dale called me while I was in Osteo because they were getting severe storms and wanted me to sit tight where ever I was until it passed. I was too far away for that storm but it knocked the power off at the house. I had rain until about 8 miles from home. Power was still off when I got home so Dale had to manually open the gate to get the car in. Power was off for about 2 hours and we've had a couple of flickers since, so it could go out again. I stopped at the dentist's before I went to Knoxville and I no longer have a stitch. The temp was looser than the tech liked so she redid the adhesive. After I got home, the dentist's office called. Apparently the impression for the crown needs to be redone and I go back at 8 on Tuesday morning. According to the lab, it was about 1/2 inch off. I have no clue how that could happen. Dale just said, "they were having a bad day. I also have a hair cut that morning, so it will be a busy one.
Happy Halloween!

Thanks for the start Chele.LOL at smell my feet.I hadn't heard of that before. It was chilly this morning. Our low was 34 but we are up to 53 now and although sunny with the wind the sun is deceiving. Most of Central TX is under a freeze warning in the morning but then we bounce back up to seasonal weather for the next week I think.I have worn sweats all day today.
Kathy Safe travels and I hope you have enough vehicles.I hope DM really enjoys the party.
Linda Cute photo.
Karen I was bummed out too.I thought they started out so well last night and I keep getting news notifications on my Garmin about the Nationals winning the WS.Adding insult to injury.I am happy it's over with though so we can go back to watching our regular programs when we want.Actually I'm going to catch up with my recorded shows since I DVR marathons of my shows.I got a call from a DTV retailer today and he was talking about how he could cut our Dish bill in half by switching back to DTV.The first month will be prorated so it will be more but after that we will be paying $70 month including the local channels so Tuesday we will be switching.I think it will be better because DTV signal doesn't seem to go out as often as DISH in weather.I'm glad the sun came out today when it cooled off so much.
