T.G.I.F.... All I have for today! IT has been yet another LONG (short) week! UGH! Work is... well... WORK... it is what it is, and it isn't changing any time soon! Debbie let us know yesterday that she is out ANOTHER week! Yup, another week, will be in on the 12th!
I.Just.Can't.!
She will be back on the Tuesday that Kaitlin is on vacation! YAY! I know - I know - I know... she is healing and I am selfish... and I feel worse about it all, because I know she had surgery... I am not angry/frustrated with her - but with the situation in general!
BUT - I need to move on... LET IT GO... harping on it isn't helping or changing the situation - so carry on!
Meanwhile - we ended up going out to dinner last night - mostly to be out of the house! LOL We don't DO TorT any more... it was OK. Matt & Patti decided not to join - he was more beat up from his procedure than he thought he would be. Now.We.Wait.!
What I learned last night was... it appears to be Stage 2, and even though one lymph node is "enlarged" - IF the ultrasound shows what they think it does, it is still Stage 2, with plenty of room for optimism! They are discussing the surgery... where they take out part of the esophagus and pull the stomach up - but Patti isn't liking the sound of that - so they are heading to Hartford today... to see what they might be able to do. Hartford and New Haven are both equipped to do a less invasive procedure on a person Matt's size. As FOR his "size" he hasn't noticed a weight loss, but the Doctor told him today he has lost 50#! IN TWO WEEKS! That cannot be "healthy"... BUT... he is on mostly liquid diet - no breads, or pastries, or "yeast" like foods... and not a lot of meats... so he is doing mostly protein shakes, soups and pasta... and according to the scales he is down 50#!! I cannot fathom anyone losing 50# in 2 weeks, no matter what - but that's what they said! If that's the case he'll be down anothr 50 or so by the time they figure out the treatment!
My head is swimming again... it seems for every appointment he has we have 15 more questions!
Let me try to catch up ♥ will need more coffee ♥

Good Morning - I have not read all the posts yet but wanted to do a shout out! Slept well again last night - still crawling into DD21's empty bed Hey, I paid for that bed so I consider it mine for the using when she's not home LOL This headcold is not nearly as severe as it could have been - I think the Airborne and Cold Remedy I religiously took before it hit really helped keep the worst of it at bay. It has moved down...hopefully soon OUT...but for today I have that irritating cough and post-nasal congestion and no voice. Gonna be a quiet day. Ahhhh.... Carole - thank you for the update on Matt - I have heard of folks losing that much weight in a short amount of time - a lot of water weight I'm sure. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who would allow himself to dwindle to 'nothing' so I'm sure his doctors are aware and monitoring him. I think the news he received of Stage 2 is manageable and hopefully not too overwhelming. Good for them seeking another opinion for treatment options!! How was your Birthday dinner? We have had Gale-like winds here (gusts of 40 mph) so it's crazy with the leaves blowing like a blizzard - but the temps were still in the 50s yesterday. I did sit out on our porch for a bit with the T-or-T kids coming and going - I only recognized 3 kids! The nieghborhood has transitioned to teenagers and college age kids...mine included ...kinda sad but it's time. Only had half the crowd as usual - I'm sure the winds kept most inside. It was sprinkling rain not the heavy downpours of afternoon. Did I sse from our Lisa she has S-N-O-W in her Chicago area?? Happy it's Friday - gotta get moving - sleeping a bit later every day due to not having my usual alarm and I must have set my phone alarm wrong...it's good.

Sue: Thanks for the BD wishes... it was a tough day - but seeing all the messages, warmed my heart ♥
Hoping those sweet potatoes are worth the garage space! LOL I didn't need lunch yesterday either - UGH SO much STUFF... not all healthy - but it was there, and I was there, with my mood it was a lost cause! UGH! I so enjoyed my salad for dinner! Truly I did!!
Not "homebound" I'm afraid... if he is doing treatment in CT he will most likely have to stay there... Yale has a place for people to stay while in treatment (or so it appears) we just don't know the "cost"... no ACS Hope Lodge down there... but ACS may be able to "help", we just have to call to get specifics... but until we know which hospital - it's hard to make the call! I too am glad they are getting away - and with the stop in Hartford to discuss surgery - it's a good combo I guess!
OH Hun - don't ever worry about venting here... that's what friends are for {{{hugs}}} Yes, will be interesting to see if Kris shows up at TG... maybe she'll go to TX for a change!!
Gabrielle: OH NO! I didn't realize your trip home from DC was followed by a trip to for hospital board meetings! WOW!! OH no! So sorry about the power outages and DS with the dogs... couldn't he have taken them to his place? UGH what a mess to come home to!! {{{{hugs}}}}
Thanks - I am so glad to have made the trip... was well worth the travel to see you and Lise ♥ Umm, Tracy starts (I believe) Tuesday the 12th... at that point she will be working/training DAYS... that will be an adjustment for her! LOL I think it is a full 60 days of training... and holidays off... so she will be with us for TG, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!!
Thanks for the BD wishes - we went to dinner... but I will admit it was not much of a celebratory feeling - I know it's NOT "all about me"... but I am struggling right now! Between this and the overwhelming feeling at work - I pretty much can cry at the drop of a hat! Hoping to head to HR today - but not sure what my day will be - being Friday and the 1st and the 3rd... going to be a long day!
Oh right... I knew they started across the city - wasn't sure of the timing... how did the guys do??? Sorta glad you had the rain vs the sun... sorry it wasn't the best time for you - but HEY... YOU DID IT!! Congratulations - ♥
Jenny: Thanks Hun - how's Kerry doing??
Sue: Have to LOL Greenfield postponed TorT last night due to the winds and rain - they are worse today then they were last night! LOL Kinda hoping they cancel it tonight as well... yeah I don't care if Zoë goes or not! Tracy & I are in charge of it tonight! UGH!
Oh Good news is for STD he has 100%... when/if it turns to LTD it will be 2/3... he has 60 days of STD available - so it should carry him through the treatments at least.
Actually now-a-days, the 1st is the day of "old timers" SS deposits... the 3rd is "SSI"... but NOW SS payment is dependent on your date of birth! Some folks get it the 1st Wed, some the 2nd, the 3rd and so on... I think they all fall on Wednesdays... so when YOU are ready to collect it will no longer be on the FIRST! SO many older folks don't know that - so undoubtedly we get calls from folks thinking their checks would go in on the first... but nope... sorry you still gotta wait X# of days!
SO the actual CRAZY day is the third.. if ya' catch my drift! LOL
Oh dear... yes sounds like DM was being "taken" long - long ago!! {{{hugs}}} my friend, this will never be "easy" for you ♥ Again - my friend... we ARE "here" if/when you need us...
Oh dear - I can't even remember all that I was mindlessly eating yesterday... not a good combo for me... lots of stuff, and my mood was very "down"...
Yes Deb was back - and her consult for her procedure is the end of November!
OMG Between Amanda living at home and the boyfriend living at home... WTH are they going to do??? Have to LOL actually to think about them trying to be "together" and on their own! OY VEY!
Oh have a fun night tonight - get your mind off everything else...

Mornin' Christine... YAY for a good night's sleep... thank goodness for Linds' bed! LOL Yes it is "yours" when she is not home! Hey enjoy a quiet day!!
Dinner was good - enjoyed a salad with grilled chicken... couple of margaritas - Hey it was my birthday! LOL Just not very celebratory - knowing Matt was not feeling up to coming out - we sent mac & cheese home for him.
We too have that wicked wind right now... supposed to let up by noontime, we'll see!
Yup - I gotta get moving too... I will certainly not be early today - but it is what it is... but I gotta get my mindset in a better place pretty soon!
Will likely not check in tonight - after the downtown trick or treating and getting Zoë home, I will be fried... and not sure what we are doing tomorrow after all... still on the fence about working vs the clothing sale.
Hope you ladies have a great TGIF... who has plans for the weekend??? Please share what fun you will enjoy! ♥hugs♥

Morning Carole, Christine and all to come....slept pretty well last night, several hours in the recliner because I was too lazy to get up and walk to bed....I started to doze, reached up and turned the light & TV off and off to dreamland I went....woke at 2:00am to pee and then crawled into bed. Our power flickered off and on last night due to the winds....it was crazy! Still gusting now and temps have dropped from 72° to 38° in 8 hours!!
I FaceTimed with David for a few minutes last night just to tell him what Pat said when I asked her about Thanksgiving....she was excited to come join us but hopes the whole "mom thing" is resolved and there is not family squabbles. David laughed like I did....with only Kris coming there will be NO DISCUSSION about DM. Kris might try to bring it up just to "start something" but none of us will engage or respond so she will shut down quickly!! I had already reassured Pat of a peaceful holiday weekend but just wanted to share it with David.
Had to laugh...my DN Chris was getting ready to head to a Halloween party dressed as a giant kangaroo! OMG, it was so cute, complete with a a little Joey in the pouch!!
Tonight we'll get home, grab tickets and off to Dutch Apple....menu looks pretty good for options to make good choices, just need to practice moderation!
Have a great day all....see you in the morning will likely be late when we get home tonight!

Good morning!
Wow, November is here! And I think that Christine has a holiday in here somewhere--the first day of hunting season or something like that? Just one of the things that I have learned being on the WW boards with you all, LOL. Halloween was nothing too big around here either--we are rural so no Trick or Treaters....at work though we have preschool programs nearby so they walk the kids through our office (we had crayons for them)...SO darned cute! I get my fix when they come through each year. We didn't even watch a scary movie last night. Oh well! Had a nice conversation with DS20 yesterday. As Jenny has mentioned, it is getting cold in OR--kind of like winter around here. He is missing us (which I appreciated hearing) and is doing fine--wondering about if he wants to do multi-media--I told him that is why you take classes and he will figure it out--not many of us figured it out right at the beginning.
Carole: Sounds like Matt is really on his way in terms of determining a location, treatment, etc. I am sure that it doesn't feel fast enough but, when I think of how little time has gone by, he really is moving forward. When I was diagnosed, it took about 6 weeks to get to surgery and I remember that was hard, but it was worth it to feel like I had done my research--hope that the kids feel the same way. Ouch--I would think that the port would definitely be annoying in terms of pain (but worth it when the treatment comes up). Yes, I do hope that they can find an affordable option to stay. I am wondering about little miss Zoe....they might want to have her with them for some of it but not all? Wow, SO SO glad that you all are there to support them. Hugs to you Carole--so many things going on! Hmmm...glad that you went to dinner...with all that is going on, I am not sure that anything other than a week off could save you from thinking about so many things going on in your life right now. I wish I lived closer---we would take a walk EVERY evening and talk it through. Maybe we could do something like that via cell phone? Let's think about that!!! I'm serious! Hope that today is a good day and you just DO what you can---it is not all there to fall on your shoulders!

Sue: Yay for Dutch Apple!!! What is the show tonight? I love hearing about them...speaking of which...now that DS25 and his GF live here, she said that she would go to the Nutcracker with me so I need to find tickets. No boys in my house will go with me anymore . Wow...just reading about the past with your mom, the interactions with Kris, Jim, etc. Wow...again, so GLAD that you have David! LOL, hearing about having Kris for Thanksgiving reminds me of the years when we have had to announce before dinner, "NO TALKING POLITICS" and we have to be firm about it. Some of the Thanksgiving group has a hard time following that order---you will have to be the same way with Kris, LOL. Well, hoping that Amanda is smart about this whole new boyfriend thing. I know of people that moved in with parents for childcare purposes but it was temporary and usually sole custody issues. They sound kind of "alike"---might be interesting. I didn't see the soup that you mentioned back in the posts from the last week (wasn't too careful though)--what kind of soup did you make? I am always game for soup! It's that time of year. Hope that you have a good day today.
Christine: Well, sounds like you will be "quiet" today...I hope that you feel even better tomorrow and can enjoy your weekend. Sounds cold though! LOL, hey, all beds are open to you in the house if it means you get a good night's sleep! Glad that you are taking advantage. Any fun plans for the weekend (if you feel up to it)? I love this time of year for decorating, etc. I always think of your house being one that is festive and fun this time of year. Yes, kind of sad to see the turnover in the neighborhoods--especially because you had the "party house" (in my mind). Do you think that you and DH will stay there through retirement? Downsize? Maybe see where the girls land first? Well, hope that today passes quickly for you.

Jenny: Hope that you are staying warm! DS20 said that it is definitely chilly. Hugs to you as you wait on the surgery....
Lisa: Yay for Friday, right? Yes, I guess that it's good to have the extra money this time of year, but it sounds like you had to deal with a disgruntled person? I missed that post...hope that this isn't a regular thing for you. You are too easy-going and friendly to have to deal with grouchy people like that!
Shelly: Hope that your eye is better and you are back into the swing of things--maybe some time off this weekend too?
Okay, gotta go. Full day today (three more meetings showed up between 4:00 pm yesterday and this morning) and the first one is at 7:30 am. It's fine---it's Friday! DH is running his first 100 mile run tomorrow through Sunday. I am his crew so I won't be sleeping either---starts tomorrow at 5:00 am and ends Sunday (hopefully by 10:00 am or so). Daylight savings (the one I like) is this weekend too so that will give us an extra hour. Because of this, not sure how much I will be checking in, but I will try! See you all later.

Good Morning
We only had 2 T & T last night, I was kinda disappointed so I brought all the Halloween candy in to the office for the guys out in the pit to eat and it will probably take quite a while to finish it. Kerry's doing well, we still haven't heard about the cat scan though, I would think they would have called by now. It is so cold in the morning's here low 30's and then it warms to about 55 in the day. Burrrrrrrr. Audrey went TT with all her friends last night and they had fun cause they could drive themselves, so funny. Yes Diane can be such a witch at times. She's doesn't like anything fun at all. She actually told me yesterday that she thought kids Audrey's age shouldn't go trick or treating last night. So I asked her "So you would rather them out partying, and she said 17 year old's don't drink". I said "Well remember me telling you she attended a B-day party a few weeks ago and the parent's let the kids drink?" Duh!!!!! She's just thinks she's always right about everything and she pretty much don't know SHIT about anything... Like I said she's a very bitter woman.... I just ignore her now she's in her own corner now...
Carole 50# in 2 weeks wow that does sound like water weight... Sorry to hear Matt's not feeling well, poor guy, at least her went to dinner with ya last night. Oh Margarita's sound really good. Might have to put that on my list for tonight. When do you get to use the rest of your vacation time? Any big plans for this weekend? We are going to my MIL home and taking my insta pot and making some beef stew for her birthday dinner. DH told me the plan and I think that sounds good. Her birthday was the 30th of October and she doesn't go out anywhere except the Dr's, she has early dementia and doesn't like seeing anyone anymore.
Sue oh ya I couldn't believe my co-worker Dennis when he told us about the stage 4 cancer. He had a huge tumor cut off his thyroid last year and his levels went back up a couples month's ago and he went and took some radiation and it spotted the cancer had moved else where but it's such a trace amount in his body they won't do anything for it yet until it get's to stage 4 again before insurance will pay. Insurance is such a pain in the ass to deal with.

Evening all...not heading to Dutch Apple...just too frazzled! Got a panicked call from Sarah at 2:30...she and Josh were in an accident, it was not their fault, the woman thought it was a 4-way stop and pulled right out in front of Josh....he slammed on the brakes but T-boned her anyway....air bags went off, van is likely totaled....I had to leave work quickly to get to the house to get the boys off the bus, then went to the accident site to get Sarah to bring her back to our house to get the van so they had a vehicle until the insurance gets sorted out and hopefully they have a rental until they can find out if they will fix the van or if they will be car shopping?? Just not in the mood to socialize....my insides are still doing flip flops. Got a hold of Sue and they were able to find another couple to go with them. The couple is even going to pay for the tickets even though I told Sue it wasn't necessary! It will be nice to get it back but at this point I didn't even care!
So tonight I'm going to program the DVR for some Hallmark movies, watch a little mindless TV and just veg! But decided to catch up a bit here first....
Carole....glad your week is finally done...yes, sometimes those short weeks can be VERY long! Bummer...thought Debbie might be back next week...nope, can't worry about it, you just have to do your best and the rest will get done when it gets done! Crystal doesn't seem worried about it so there is nothing to worry about. I know we are often our own worst enemies when we feel behind and out of control at work but if your supervisor is "cool with it".....let it go!
Sounds like you had a nice dinner out for your birthday even though Matt & Patti didn't join you...I'm sure Matt is a little 'beat up' from the procedure.... I will say that even with the one lymph node involvement and the Stage 2 status it still sounds very positive for a good outcome.... I'm sure the surgery will be done if the lesion is close to the stomach. Glad they are in Hartford today getting another opinion. I'm not surprised Matt has lost 50# in 2 weeks....I'm sure his calorie intake is dramatically less than what it was prior to diagnosis and I'm sure much of it is water weight loss too.... Yes, I can only imagine that with each new bit of information the questions just keep popping up! So glad things are moving quickly and soon treatment will begin and he will be on the road to better health.
Christine...take advantage of that new bed in Lindsey's room....exactly, you bought it so it's technically your bed and you just chose to let Lindsey sleep in it when she's there! LOL! Yup Christine...we got those same crazy winds and about 3" of rain too....many creeks flooded and many people work up to water in basements. LOL...our neighborhood has gone from kids to teens to college to empty nests with a bunch of old people....not one kid for T or T here!
Yes Carole...the sweet potatoes are worth the couple of weeks out of the garage...it really is a good cash crop for us and they really aren't a ton of work....it's a lot to get them planted and a lot to dig, sort and sell them but from late May until mid-October you do NOTHING to them....they just grow! Since the row is covered with black plastic to hold the heat because they like the heat! Once the vines grow they cover any bare ground and keep the weeds down too....

Really Carole...Matt will have to stay in CT??? I know my DSS would go in, spend a few hours at the clinic getting the chemo but then come home....she only got it once a week so we at home, she actually worked most of the time too....she was diagnosed in June so her early chemo was in the summer but she went back to school in the fall, she's a gifted learning teacher/coordinator for our school district, and only missed the day of chemo....
Well, David thinks Kris will show up at Thanksgiving and spend lots of time with us and act like nothing is happening....it will be interesting. With DM in TX and not having any extra $$$ at her fingertips she can't afford to fly to TX for the weekend....she has to work or she won't have $$ to pay for her brand new CR-V. We will likely see a lot of her, just so she doesn't "start anything"!
That's awesome that Tracy will have the holidays off....will she always have them off or is it just this year because of training! One good thing about T or T tonight and having Zoe....she's little enough that she probably has no clue so it you just stay home and keep your light out she will never know the difference.
Had to laugh at Hannah's pictures on FB....the boys went last night and had no school today so this morning they got up and sort their "stash" and then traded and bargained with each other for things....I see Hannah raiding it at some point digging out all her favorites. They will have candy for MONTH... When I got to Sarah's to get the boys today they had their stuff divided into two bowls....chocolate in one and the other candy like Skittles, Sweet Tarts, lollipops, etc in the other...they can pick 2 each day and it is not Kellen's candy and Jackson's candy....it's "family candy" and it all got mixed together and all shared! They too will have candy for months!
WOW....SS deposit schedule sure has changed since my in-laws got it...I'm pretty sure everyone was the 3rd....I'm hoping that by the time we retire we are not worried about when the check is deposited each month...hopefully we will not be that "strapped" that we have to worry! If it does come on our birth dates mine would be the 2nd and Jason the 25th so it would be spread out!
Glad Deb was back so you were super short handed with Debbie still off....will be anxious to hear what her consult reveals and how long she will be out. Fingers crossed it's not too long and doesn't overlap anyone else.
OK....getting a headache....need to walk away from the computer for now....will finish catching up in the morning....want to check in on Sarah and make sure they really are OK...she said she felt fine but Josh got hit by the side air bag and his ear was really sore and ringing.....hopefully it will wear off soon. I have a feeling they will have some sore muscles tomorrow from tensing up on impact. Neither of them had ever been in an accident before and never experience air bags!
Sweet dreams all....
