SENSIBLE Saturday.... I will be as sensible as I can - not knowing what we have in the freezer for the day and week ahead. Today I am going in to work - so a typical morning... coffee now, hot tea and protein bar at my desk - a bottle of water to drink on the ride home... can only work until noon, as the bank closes at noon and I can't be in the building after the branch staff leave. I am planning on 8:30 - 12, and think that should be enough time to get a jump on my ATM Settlement! While branch staff will know I am there - I will have my phone on forward, so I won't even hear it ring - IF they decide to call me for any reason!
This afternoon is going to be sunny and COLD, so will most likely work on a menu for the week - and the usual indoor stuff.
I have a little time to catch up before I leave... ♥

Good Morning ~
Cold outside today - sleet/rain/snow/mix for the morning - I'm staying home and inside this morning! Totally lost my voice by end of the day yesterday and with minimal talking at work - started Mucinex to see if that helps - I don't FEEL bad just a bit tired and irritated with the voice being gone!
Work went well - it was Early Dismissal for all students. No idea WHY...as there was no Professional Development planned. As a matter of fact the Prince was out all day (meetings with other CEOs and superintendents) and DL was running all over the place in her glory. I just stayed quietly in my area - helped a few teachers in the academic wing as they prepare for Conferences next Monday and Tuesday...oh, and the Prince (really DL wrote it) sent an email that thanked the Teachers for volunteering all their hours to Childcare and offered to let them leave immediately after the students. Um. Nope, they stood together and stayed until 3:30 not falling for favors from DL....I think they had more fun hanging out in their rooms together laughing and joking then had they left (which is probably what DL was trying to cut through!)
DD23 and Ben were invited to post-Halloween party last night (last minute) so Carly laughed and said, "It's hard having a BF...I have to be social all the time!" lol She really wanted to hunker down and do homework in her pj's....
I hope to have my voice back before tomorrow - no sign of it today - as I plan to drive to see Linds at Slippery Rock - just a day visit to see my Girl. I miss her!!! And sneak in some shopping at the Outlet Stores then head home before dark.
This afternoon I may have to scoop up some leaves, branches, and the mess from those strong winds we had. Lots of trees down especially at work - no power outages though so we lucked out!
I'm FAR behind - need to read up on yesterday's posts

Sue: YAY for sleeping good - whether it's the recliner or bed - sleep is sleep!! We are 30 degrees now and frosty out there!
So glad you and David & DSM Pat can make plans for a stress free TG! Will Sarah's gang be able to join this year??
Hope Dutch Apple was a fun as it usually is ♥
Gabrielle: Yes, Happy November to all! I think hunting is December though... may be wrong... here it is the Monday after TG!
Aww, nice to know DS20 is missing you... and glad he is still doing well in school!
Yes, Matt is doing well with all of this - yesterday's visit to Hartford yielded yet ANOTHER suggestion of a hospital! Now it seems the less invasive surgery is not an option - so MA Gen is where they think he should go! I cannot keep up!
You are right though... it has only been 3 weeks since his first endoscopy! So he has been BUSY in this past 3 weeks!!
MA Gen also has a ACS Hope Lodge nearby - so family can stay near during treatments... from what we hear - with all our ACS info is these Hope Lodges are free of charge! I am ready to take a week - and head to Boston - with Zoë, so she can spend time with them around the treatments... but have to let them tell me what they want.
Thank you - I may take you up on the offer - but with our time differences, and setting the clocks back this week - my "night" starts pretty early!!! LOL
OK Zoë got up and I got distracted... now I have to get moving - I want to make the most of the next few hours at work... this better be worth my time!!
Will finish catching up later ♥hugs♥

Carole - Good Luck at work today!!! I hope you are able to remain focused and feel productive. I know it always paid off for me to get either a good jump start or catch up when deadlines are looming. Sorry to say but I think the cold winter mix may be headed your way...not too bad in our neighborhood but I did see cars driving in from the County with inches of snow on them! DM lives at the start of the snowbelt and LOVES to brag and complain about how much more snow she gets compared to anyone else. lol Often she'll say, "huh, you barely have ground coverage here, when at MY house we got 30 inches" (no she didn't but she likes to say that)...Here's a thought about the Matt thing and his treatment shopping: I would keep a list. Then cross off the ones they rule out. That way you can easily track where their planning is going and see if it makes more sense. It's all overwhelming but maybe writing it down and leave the notepad on the counter to look at might help you and Ken keep up. I am very proud of him and Patti for really searching and listening to the experts. And yes, chemo treatments are so individualized - I remember our hair stylist sharing she went immediately to Cleveland Clinic and the doctors there made a unique chemical combination just for her. Then she was able to take the combined chemicals to the Cancer Treatment center here in town. But each person's illness is different. Our little guy at school with leukemia must travel to Pittsburgh every Friday for his treatments. Then they drive home (2 hours one way). Oh - btw - I LOVE the idea of calling one of us daily to sort out your thoughts - CALL ME CALL ME!!! (raising my hand here) I didn't know you had cell service at home?? But please...!!!! (just wait until I have my voice back lol)

Sue - OH MY!!! That is truly frightening for Sarah and Josh AND YOU! No one EVER wants that call to 'help, we were in an accident' - my heart goes out to all of you. Thankful no physical injuries, but like my Lindsey, the emotional ones last far longer and take some time to heal. I totally get your thinking - you would not have been able to enjoy the Show last night too vamped up from that call. Sweet of the other couple to pay for your tickets - and you are right, the money was not the issue, you were glad someone could use the tickets. Maybe their Insurance will cover a rental car until the damage is assessed? That's how we did it when Lindsey was in that accident and our Suzuki was totaled. I drove the rental (in my name) and she took my little Trax back to school for a week or so - I agree with Pat. NO DM TALK at the Thanksgiving Holiday. Carly makes us swear not to discuss Politics (like Gigi) at family gatherings. Well, sometimes we have to rein Lindsey in as she is SO strong minded about Social Justice and the Green movement and...well, it's where she is at this point of her life...Carly chooses to be in la la land. She does NOT like changes and conflict and debates. It really hurts her...too sweet.
Jenny - Well then Diane...go be a grump in your own corner! I agree. Geesh...you will NEVER win an argument with rigid minded people - she has to be that way. She can't and won't change so yes, it's best NOT to argue with her. I bet she likes Trump too (rolling the eyes) lol Glad Audrey had fun with her friends for Halloween. Linds sent me a picture - her and Kendra her 'bestie' dressed identical in kids' camp clothes (black shorts, matching Camp t-shirts, high white socks, white sneakers) and went as the Twins in Parent Trap. They even carried a picture from the Dennis Quad version of the parents photo torn in half LOL It was cute...

Morning all....it's a chilly one here in Glenville and the house is chilly too! We can tell the temps outside have dropped and the nights are cold...each day the temps in the house drop a degree or two so I'm sure the heat will "kick on" at some point today. It has been "on" since we got back from Hannah's a few weeks ago but hasn't run for probably the last two weeks since we have been in the upper 60's, low 70's until the rains came through on Thursday....now we are barely hitting 50 during the day and low 30's at night and today, as it gets dark sooner the house will not warm up at all anymore! It is November so guess I can't complain!
Gabrielle...1st day of buck season here in PA is the Monday after Thanksgiving so it actually falls in December this year since Thanksgiving is so late. It's funny around here all the schools are closed that day since so many kids are out anyway! Glad you got to chat with Max...I'm sure it is nice to hear he misses you! Glad he's in school and taking classes and asking the questions "is this what I want to do".....so many people go to college for what they "think they want" but then get out of college and never use their degree....I'm sure he'll figure it out...he has time!
Dutch Apple last night was Will Rogers Follies but as you know by now we did not go....I just wasn't up for being "social"....last night I terrible, kept waking up thinking about getting paged by the receptionist...I never get paged by her so it was unnerving to say the least and just kept thinking "what if"?? Haven't talked to Sarah yet this morning so not sure how they are feeling now....they may be sore from the accident but as I said, nothing serious. For that I'm extremely grateful!
YAY Gabrielle....someone to go to the Nutcracker with this year...I take it the "boys" in your house had their fill over the years! Here is the recipe for the soup.
Spicy Potato Soup
1 pound ground beef (ground turkey works too!) 1 medium onion, chopped 4 C. diced potatoes 3 – 8 oz. cans Tomato Sauce (I used 1 – 28 oz. can) 4 C. water 1 tsp. salt 1 ½ tsp. pepper 1-1 ½ tsp. Tabasco sauce (more or less to taste)
Brown ground beef (turkey) and drain. Add onions, potatoes, tomato sauce, water & spices. Bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer and cook until potatoes are soft (approx. 1 hour).
I made a double batch 1# ground beef and 1# ground turkey. I also used 1- 28 oz. can of tomato sauce & 1- 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes since I didn’t have enough of the tomato sauce.
Need to find a recipe for Josh....be back in a few....

Afternoon all...well, I got a little sidetracked....
I sent Josh the recipe, he wants to make Chicken Corn Soup.....he and Sarah tried and it was not really good so they needed some help. I will say, my first several batches of it were terrible....it's one of those soups you really need to have enough salt to give it any flavor and it not, it's yucky!! Anyway, sent off that email...I emptied and reloaded the dishwasher, washed up what needed to be washed...decided to head to the store...got home, unloaded and put away groceries, started the dishwasher (Jason doesn't like it running when no one is home)...then decided to do my nails...now having a late lunch and catching up with you!
Gabrielle....hope the weather is good for Ed's run today....yes, DST will give you that extra hour so he will finish earlier by the clock! Pop in if you can but if not.....see you on Sunday!
Jenny...sounds like the kids in your neighborhood are getting older too....whenever I have leftover stuff I always bring it to work if Jason doesn't want it....someone will eat it at work, never have to worry about leftovers of anything, especially sweets/treats! Glad Kerry is doing well, hopefully they will call soon about the scan, I know the waiting is the worst. LOL, not sure what world Diane is living in these days.....why does she think 17 year olds don't drink?? Yes, many don't but many are drinking, smoking, experimenting with drugs, etc...I think its great Audrey and her friends went TT...I don't mind older kids showing up as long as they are not being rude or getting in the way of the little ones....let kids be kids as long as they want to....we spend too much time as an adult as it is....enjoy the holidays and the traditions while you are in school..... as my brother David always says....people like Diane are "bitter and angry, table for one"!!
Ah yes Carole....I need sensible today! Hope those few hours in the office today got you in a good place with the ATM settlement. Glad no one should bother you while you are there! That's why I love going in on Saturday mornings too! It's cold and sunny here too Carole...was only 44° when I got home from the store but the sun shining in the car was HOT!! I'm planning on making pot roast with all the fixin's tomorrow...we aren't going anywhere so it's the perfect day and since I didn't want to do it last weekend when Jason was on clear liquids for his colonoscopy, I promised I'd do it this week! I picked up some brussel sprouts to add to the pot...I love them cooked with the pot roast and even Jason will eat them too! Will also make a batch of baked egg muffins and some HB eggs for on salads!
Christine....please do not send that wintery slop my way! Hope the voice comes back...one time I got laryngitis and have no idea why....no cold, no other symptoms, just woke up with no voice....didn't know I didn't have one until I got to work since I don't talk to anyone in the morning because Jason leaves before I get up.....went to say good morning and nothing but a squeak! It was actually kind of funny but it was gone for almost 3 days....crazy! Hopefully yours comes back soon.... I LOVE IT!! The teachers all banding together and staying until 3:30pm....that's awesome! Seems the DL is losing a bit of her control and people are falling pry to her manipulative tactics...heaven knows she wanted to be "the good guy" letting them all go but they didn't play!!
OMG Carly is a hoot!!! I don't blame her about wanting to hang out in her pj's but didn't really having a BF and being social was that hard at her age....I thought that was only us old people that just want to come home from work, put on pj's and stay in! I will say, I do love the occasional socializing but I'm definitely not a social butterfly!
Carole...no, Sarah's gang won't be joining us this year....will be very low-key for sure! I'm actually looking forward to it....good food, good laughs, Black Friday bowling, plenty of football and just plain relaxing!!
Glad Matt is doing well through all this...good to know right up front that the less invasive surgery is not an option. Sounds like in many ways MA General will be a good option, especially with the ACS Hope Lodge being available and free of charge is awesome!! Yes, it would be nice to take Zoe over to see them but keep in mind that Matt's resistance to germs will be VERY low to non-existent so she needs to be 100% healthy so she doesn't bring any germs along. A woman at work has a DBIL doing chemo now and no one is allowed anywhere near him if they even a scratchy throat or a sniffle.....even when they do visit healthy they have to wear masks!!
Christine....yes, the kids should get a rental but the insurance people won't even look at it until Monday so they needed a vehicle big enough for 5 people...Josh's car holds 5 but barely. Also, Josh will leave for work at 8:00pm on Sunday evening and Sarah will need a car to take Colton to school Monday morning....thankfully we have the 3 vehicles so we were happy to let them borrow it! Oh yes, we have the no politics, no religion rule at holiday tables too....the views in my family are so varied we just don't go there but with DM the issues are different....I really don't think Kris will be too bad as she knows exactly where David and I stand....
Oh...got Jason's colonoscopy results and there were a couple pre-cancerous so he's back to the 3 year plan but the polyps are removed completely and no chance of regrowth so we are starting from square one and hope next time there are few polyps and none suspicious.
My new glasses are ready so will pick them up Monday or Tuesday after work....need to check the hours. I'm excited....they aren't too different but having the right prescription will be nice!
Hope all are enjoying this Sensible Saturday....waves Lisa, Shelly and anyone else I missed!
Will pop in later!

Good afternoon! Been doing errands etc. while Greg is at work. Trying to continue to be motivated but running out of that. But did get groceries stocked up.
Carole-sorry about the Saturday morning work but hopefully it is a productive morning. There might be some peace of mind being caught up, or more caught up.
Christine-I think that I'm trying to catch something too. Been coughing and trying some hot tea to make it better right now. We've been colder in the 40's...winter is here.
Sue-so sorry to hear about the accident but glad everyone is ok. I will need to try your potato soup recipe-thanks for sharing!
I really need to get caught up reading posts from the last few days - I can't believe it's so easy to get behind.
Not sure what's for dinner - Greg wasn't interested in anything I mentioned fixing at home so I guess we are going out!
I need to pay bills while I have money at the first of the month...try to BBL tonight to read last few days posts and catch up.

Good afternoon - home... had a "lunch"... drifted around Facebook for a while - went to the tub fir a bit - being kind of lazy today! Just feeling tired today!
Gabrielle: Good luck to you and Ed! LOL Glad he has a "crew"... what does that entail for you?? Will Bob be running this one too?? Todd & I will be thinking of him as we drift off to sleep tonight! LOL
Jenny: That's why we do NOT stay home any more for TorT'g! IF we get 1-5 we'd be doing good and waiting all night for those few is so NOT worth the effort!! Ahhh, I have changed my attitude about older kids going out on Halloween - you are right... better to have them asking for candy then out partying! Yeah, we are getting into the colder weather too... it sucks! Glad Kerry is doing OK... how worried is he about all of this?
Yeah, I am sure a lot of it is water weight - but DAMN that's a LOT of water weight!! I will save/use my vacation time for helping Matthew - if he needs to be in Boston for 405 days a week, I can go stay with him... so Patti doesn't lose that much time/money from work and he doesn't have to go alone... my bog plans were to work today and get caught up on household chores! Nice... sounds good to do beef stew for dinner... think I will add that to my menu for the week!
I am so tired of insurance CRAP!!
Sue: OH NO!! So sorry you had to miss your DA night! I get it - too much going on to enjoy it anyway! Kinda how I felt about dinner out the other night. SO Glad the kids are OK and that the boys were not with them!! How scary!! Glad you were able to scoot out to get the boys and then go get SArah... oh what a PITA it will be - to be down to one car for now! Oh wait... you have an extra one right?? Will they use that to get through? Or a rental... since the other insurance company will be paying... oh what a PITA it will all be!!! {{{hugs}}}
UGH I know you are right - but I still can't deal with MY work being what gets left behind! The good news is it is truly only the ATM settlement that is behind... I am making time to get the other stuff done!!
OH Sue... I am sooooo confused right now... with chemo 5 days a week for 6 weeks, it wouldn't make sense to do the 1 hour drive each way each day... IF the hospital has the facility for family to stay. Even 4 days a week for 4 weeks it would make sense to stay - even in Boston, it's a 2 hour drive, and depending on how he feels after the chemo - people are saying he won't want to do that drive each day! I think we need to see where he will be - what the schedule will be - and how he feels during and after treatment - before any real decisions are made! How far a drive did your DSS have to get to treatments? If he is in Boston - or CT - he will most likely be doing a combo of chemo and radiation... so again - I guess we have to see what the schedule/plan is?? Also need to see if there is a facility to house patients while receiving treatments?
Ahhh, Kris is kind of at the mercy of her job these days...
Oh no... SS doesn't come ON your birthday - the Wednesday it comes is decided BY your birthdate.

Christine: Oh my - I was hoping you were feeling BETTER by now {{{hugs}}} HA! Early dismissal for no reason??? LOVE that the teachers knew better than to leave early... LOL at DL waiting for all to leave!! Poor DD... sorry the BF is taking up so much of her time! LOL
Oh I WISH I was going shopping tomorrow... have fun - voice or not you can shop!
LOL Glad to have your DM have ALL of the snow! She can have it! Yeah we had windy - cold - sunshine today... I am just BEAT!
I DID make headway at work today - got a full 6 Settlements done - 12 days... need to re-check the 16th, but if it "balances" then I am good to move forward. I am glad I went - but (of course) wish I had gotten further along!
LOL Yes, I di have cell service at home (now) but I truly am not a phone person! I prefer text or FB message... not sure why - but I have this "thing" about talking on the phone... I guess I don't like to share my phone calls with DH and DD!?? Maybe??
One thing DS liked about Hartford was they have a cancer coordinator... someone who links everyone together, and just keeps everything ORGANIZED for everyone.
Oh I am with DD Carly... no need to discuss the political CRAP at family gatherings... my Matt & his Patti are SO PASSIONATE about all the social injustices of the word... we have to be careful with them and my older sisters... nope, don't want to go there!! LOL
Sue: I hear ya'... too dark, and chilly - but being November, we can't complain about needing the heat on! Guy was here Thursday for the pellet stove, and oh yeah, today it was not working very well! We/he just can't seem to figure out the issues!
WOW What a productive day you had! I have been pretty much a slug all day... just no energy... hope to sleep better tonight!
Yeah - wondering about bringing Zoë, but hate to think she won;t be able to see him for all those days/weeks... we will play it by ear... think I will buy a 2nd Thieves Roller, and see if I can get Matt to use it.
I can deal with 3 year colonoscopy vs taking the "chance" of 5 year plan... sorry it's the same for Jason - but better safe than sorry.
I still need to hit BJs for new glasses... this month got away from me! Mine are not too bad prescription wise, but MAN the scratches - UGH... need new ones soon!
Lisa: Thanks, yes the work was a PITA but I do feel better getting some done and in a better "place" with my workload. YAY to getting errands done... where did you end up for dinner??

OK Calling it a night - guess we are heading to the tub with Ken... then when I come in I can flip laundry and then head upstairs with my hot tea! Tomorrow will be concentrated on laundry and dishes and organizing this darned dining room! If time allows I want to go upstairs and get my summer stuff put away. Will also need to pay a couple more bills (medical) and get my sleep study fiasco pulled together for HR to advise - or at least be informed!
Sensible Saturday has been OK... will turn the tea kettle on before going outside - so when I come in it will be ready for ME! ♥hugs♥
