I didn’t want the announcement debinprogress made to get buried in that other thread. Virtual coaching is here. What do you guys think? www.weightwatchers.com/us/plans/virtual-group-coachingthere is the link for all the details, but basically it is “an exclusive, small group experience.” Personally I think they should cycle through their leaders and have a motivational weekly topic, for everyone, and actually get online people experiencing that “meeting” feeling. They could do it as a youtube type clip that they could post on their app. I have actually wondered why they haven’t done this for many many years now. If done right it will get more people excited about meetings and get people back in the chairs. And for the ones with no access to, or unable to attend meetings it will help to keep them inspired and on program.

I would think for onliners it may be fun...great... interesting.
My arms are very short and my pockets are very deep at the moment, but at basically $2.00 extra a week it's not bad.
Personally I tend to stay away from webcams,🤣🤣🤣

I wonder why Oprah stopped with her chats. If they used that kind of format and had other Leaders join in and do the weekly topic I would definitely tune in.
* And yes I realize I have digressed from the topic of actual virtual meetings but you guys know me better than to stick to the actual topic. 🤣
I think it is a good idea for those that would benefit from it.

I looked at it and didn’t really get a good sense of just what this option is and how it works. I think they need to post a video demonstration of an actual session too give people the true taste of what the offering is.
The BIG question mark is the technology, because we all know how good they are at that—NOT. They have switched from computers to iPads at our Stewdeeooz and the iPads use a Bluetooth-connected credit card reader. Does the reader do “chip” cards? No. Does the reader do Apple Pay and Google Pay? No (even though it the symbol clearly indicating it is capable of those. When I mentioned that to the staff member helping me this morning, she just rolled her eyes.
I’ll be interest4d in hearing from anyone who actually tries the virtual coaching option.

I strongly suspect that she initially had a time-limited contract to do all the high-profile stuff she did. Then, when Mindy came in and decided that her target demographic wasn’t well represented in Oprah’s fan base, they didn’t contract with Oprah to continue doing all of that. So…no pay, no play.

zazzles, I agree. I meant in a more general sense of getting people excited and talking about topics again. They have some FABULOUS leaders out there it is time they took advantage of them and showed them off.

I have been an Oprah fan in the past...now granted, I am outside of the USA for 35 years, so I have seen very very few of her shows. But she totally list me when the get togethers came along. Shows, ranch, cruise...whatever. but when I see big money behind it, I go the opposite direction. I understand everyone is in it for the buck, but when it's blatantly put under my nose....no way

I like the idea of personal coaching. Not sure about the virtual thing. Does that mean there is a bot at the other side of the conversation?
I like the plans that WW promotes for weight loss, but I have always hated group settings. So I don't go to meetings, although I did back in the day. I tried Jenny Craig for awhile about 11 years ago and I have to say I can't even think about that food without getting a little queasy still. BUT I loved the one-on-one coaching. So while I avoided buying and eating too much of their food (which they did not like much), I did manage to lose 30 pounds in a few months and I did enjoy meeting with my "counselor."
I believe WW did offer or does offer the option of individual telephone coaching for a price. I think you really have to speak to people though. Emphasis on "speak" and "people." I also need more clarification about this virtual thing.

Interesting. I’m familiar with the coaches who connect by phone. I’ve never used this part of the WW program.

Agree with Mike that this concept isn’t explained very well at all.
Right now I’m just not interested and have no desire to fork out extra money. I’ll stick with the stewdeeooz.

“Virtual” may be an overused phrase that has lost its original definition.
Examples:
ALEXA is a virtual assistant; in reality a sophisticated computer system that takes speech input, parses it for matches against a database, and returns programmed responses.
VIRTUAL reality is a quasi 3D experience using computer-generated images, usually with a headset that fits over the eyes like goggles and contains small video screens controlled by the VR software on the computer.
I **think** what WW means by virtual coaching is some kind of private messaging through their app over your smartphone. It may be a real person, but does not suggest that it is in real time. But we will have to wait for someone to bite on the offer and provide an evaluation of their experience.

I agree that this is not clear. I think zazzles, is most likely correct. Honestly I think it is sort of like a private Connect group for each virtual group. Not exactly the same but technologically could build on that.

I think it could be a good idea, especially in areas where there are no meetings. A way to connect "live" with other people on the same journey.

WE are a "virtual support group" - looks like the WW version includes a small group, but who from WW - with the requisite COACHING skills - will be monitoring/assisting that group after the weekly session is over?
I'm watching another VSG spout all kinds of program MIS-information without any input from their admins (group got huge really fast; I think it has exceeded the capacity of the willing-but-overwhelmed staff).

Thanks, DebDoesWW ! I was thinking it would be good for this subject to have it's own thread. Sorry I've been away for the weekend and haven't posted about it. I tried to sign up for Virtual Group Coaching last night using the link I received in my email, and after about 30 + minutes chatting with WW customer service, it appears that the offer is only available to me as a "lapsed" member. It was sent to me on an old ID that I stopped using 3 years ago. I can't upgrade my current WW account. So, if I want to try it out, I'd have to start out fresh with my favorites, foods, connect peeps, etc. I am assuming that they are looking for lapsed members to come back so they can use the data on their upcoming earnings call, and also doing a test run before offering it to everyone. I am, however, still really tempted to try it. The offer is for 20.80 per month for the first 3 months, then it goes up to 34.95 per month. The offer is for a standard monthly fee of 34.95, but fine print mentions the standard monthly fee is 54.95 in New York, which I am not. I have a good amount of weight left to lose, (even more thanks to freestyle), so I could use the extra accountability. The leader/ coach Renee that is on the advertisement is one I follow on connect. I am curious as to how many meeting times there are, and how many leaders are involved, and the ability to change groups. zazzles , I also wonder about the technology involved. I was picturing it as a "blackboard" style chat with the leader on camera and the group in chat, however my confidence in WW tech is not the greatest. It could be really interesting!
