Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Cold. Nothing more to say on that subject.
Gareth, thank you for asking, about my knees. I did tell DH we need to go back to doing that knee stretch exercise, as my bad knee is getting worse again. Otherwise I am going about my normal routine. Lol, I can understand your reaction to tofu, the last time I looked at it at the store, I thought to myself "why would you?" But don't tell anyone I said that, lol!!! Thank you for the recommendation on Ask Again, and of course there is a hold on it, on Overdrive. Everyone in our family will be getting $$ again this christmas, with a small gift. I worry more about the 4 birthday's from Nov 28th till the end of the year I have to buy for. I see people on FB complaining that the time change has dragged them out...has it affected you? I don't feel it has for me.
Pinky, glad your weather is cooperating for you and your menfolk! Like they say "Make hay while the sun shines"!! We are slowly loosing our corn fields that surround us. DH is excited that he will be able to see deer better now. He is still trying to find out who owns all this farmland/woods, to ask if he can hunt on it. The reason I won't watch night games, is I get either too excited or mad, whatever way the game is going, and then it is hard to settle down and try and sleep. I do keep track of the score, but that is so different than watching the game. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! Did you end up doing anything?
Carol, I am the same way, with my reading. Smart of you to read the "in" book, while you worked at the library! Is your DH all better, or is it a cold? DH can't get his flu shot while going thru the bladder solution, so I went last Friday and got mine. I sure hope he doesn't get the flu! He is a miserable patient!!
Marsha, we were the same way, back in the day, while we were both working full time and living out in Sobieski, it was the peace of mind having AAA. But I feel that with our 2 vehicles that are somewhat newer and living in Howard, that we really don't need it anymore. Eventually I bring this subject up to DH. We gave up on the game way before the 4th quarter. I have just gotten to the point that I feel I am not going to waste my time watching that crap! If that is how they are going to play, fine, but don't expect fans to watch. I know, I sound like a fair weather fan, but I paid my dues, putting up with their loosing decades, now I just don't have the patience. Thank you for the list of books!!!
Anngie, I agree, about tofu. Just to look at it is more than what I can do, lol. WOW!!! Just the cost of home insurance would make me leave CA!!! Unreal! You hit a sore spot, between DH and I, with the junk mail, usually from some kind of Veterans group. He loves keeping all that stuff, mostly the note pads, (which he now gives to one of the grand daughters), and we have tons of address labels!! Sometimes I feel guilty and mail them a check for a donation.
Robin, omg, yes, about going to that wedding!! Sure would be interesting! Thank you for the book list! From that list there is only 1 book that I have read. I am sorry about your football team. I was reading a story on Yahoo last night, slamming the coach, and wanting him fired at the end of the season. Yes, I agree, I think the whole country was happy that the Pats lost!!
I have been doing some reading on the General discussion threads, and was very interested in how WW has started rolling out the latest program, or should I say programs? A new way of doing things, with a few ways to choose from. From what I have read so far, they are rolling it out in Europe first, then eventually here in the states.
Better get going, going to the Y in a bit, treadmill first then the gentle Yoga class. Have a nice day!
**** I just checked my yahoo email account, and there was an e from WW, yesterday, just touching on the changes, but the e was more about on Nov 16th is an afternoon that digital customers can go to a WW studio, to learn about the new ways, free. Materials for which ever program you choose will of course not be free. I don't think I will need anything, as long as my app will switch over easy, to which ever program I decide to go with. I think this is a good thing, on WW part, as they are giving members a choice.

Good Morning Ladies! Thank you for the anniversary wishes. DH and I spent the afternoon combining while the other guys brought the cattle home from pasture. DH helped gather them and then left them to hauling, so I had the morning to myself. Slow going when it was just the two of us but the drying bin was close to full so worked out well that way. Bin full by 7 PM so we went out to eat after coming home and cleaning up. We just went to a nice dining place about 15 miles away so it didn't get to late and with it being Monday it wasn't very busy so back home again by 9:30. DH is such a romantic isn't he to just have the 2 of us in the field? I don't think he even thought of it as romantic, but just "Lets get this crop out"!!! Karen--I kind of figured that might be the reason for not watching night games but just wondered for sure. You have sparked my interest in reading up on the new WW programs and checking it out. I mentioned above about our anniversary date out to eat. More harvesting today and I need to take care of some things in our garage as we have a guy coming tomorrow to polish the floor. It helps to keep things cleaner as it sort of seals the cement so it isn't quite so dusty. I need to get going---Have a great day ladies!!

I have stopped getting so much of the junk in the junk mail - note pads, return address labels, etc. I think perhaps that is because I never donated when I got those solicitations. I finally got my mother to stop sending a check every time she got a request. I told her at the end of the year you give to who you want to give and that's enough, and that way you can keep track of what you are paying. She had no idea who got what and when I went through her checkbook I questioned whether a lot of those organizations were legit.
Karen - I haven't seen any details on the new WW programs. I am going to try to go to that information session (if I remember). If not I suppose I can always pay for a meeting and go once since I am lifetime. I imagine there will be some information on the programs online once they are rolled out.
Pinky - I suppose the needs of the farm trump the needs of the anniversary. We rarely celebrate our "events" on the day. We like to do our celebrations on a nearby weekend.
I dog walked this morning. I decided since it is once again light out in the morning I'd bundle up and see how it goes. Colder on the way back walking into the wind but doable. Until it snows. So we will see. Mitzi is getting a little weird with the weather change. I think the squirrels are telling her there will be no food all winter because lately she has been very hungry and needing an extra 1/2 cup of food in the evening. I guess she'll be fat again this winter!
We are going to see a quilt exhibit at the museum tonight. It has been there for months and we didn't go and now it is leaving. I have a friend who has a few pieces in it and since Tuesdays are the only night it is open late we will go after work or after dinner.

Busy morning. Time now for a break. Laundry AGAIN! Put the bed back together and ironed what needed. I've walked. Done a little cleaning. Dishwasher is running now. Later shift today at work. Feeling a little sad remembering my dad though I really don't think a day goes by that I don't think of him in some way. I miss him so much. It was 14 years ago today he passed away.
Karen, the time change always affects me for a few days. Doesn't seem to bother DH at all.
Pinky, belated Happy Anniversary! What a romantic way to celebrate!
I've started Jojo Moyes newest book, The Giver Of Stars. Anyone read it yet? Got into it right so loving it so far.

Wet and cooler today, but not really cold.
I think about my parents, too, especially my mother. It makes me sad sometimes to think about how they didn't get to see the great adults my kids have become. I know they would have been proud.
I think I have tried tofu once. I wasn't impressed.
Marsha, we had the same problem with my MIL and junk mail. She got stuff from right-wing political groups and religious organizations plus Red Cross, St. Jude, etc. I don't think she contributed much if anything to them. DH tried to get her to put them in her recycling, but she said she was afraid of identity which didn't make much sense but DH just let it go. Trying to explain would have just confused her.
One of my sisters quilts. When we were together a couple of years ago, we went to a quilt show. Some of them were just beautiful. I can't imagine the work that goes into them.

Gareth, So sorry for the loss of your dad 14 years ago! I can relate as my mom passed away seven years ago but my dad has been gone 31 years. I’ve been without him almost the same amount of time I had him here with me! November 14th would have been their anniversary.

Karen, I guess sometimes we get so sidetracked we forget about things like aching knees. Good idea to go back to the stretches, work on you for once. Glad you got some suggestions from my list. They were ones I read in 2015 & 2016, so you should be able to get them on Overdrive.
Pinky, yes, how romantic. Nice that you got to go out to dinner too.
Gareth, Thursday will be 29 years on the Jewish calendar since my father died. I will go to temple to say the memorial prayer. I read The Giver of Stars. I really liked it, even though I started out thinking I should read it because another lesser known author wrote a book about the same topic, more or less. It's The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek.
Marsha, nice that you are taking the time to go to that quilting exhibit, I am sure it will be great.
Carol, could you believe that I need my DBIL's signature to cancel the homeowner's insurance! The house is being sold, so obviously we don't need it. I told the woman it will cancel on the 23rd anyway because I am not paying the premium. I paid in thirds, and the last one was due in October. Knowing there was a 30 day grace I didn't pay it.
It was much warmer here this morning than it was yesterday. We're in the 60's now. The closing is going on right now, I think they might be almost done. I have too many books to read right now. One I want to read for an author dinner next week. There is a big Facebook group I am on, Renee's Reading Club. Renee lives near me, and she is having a dinner with an author. We are paying, but it should be fun. The book is Not Our Kind. I also have The Winemaker's Wife, and This Tender Land, both that are supposed to be very good. I also have a Nancy Thayer, that I keep letting go because too many come up at once. I might have to turn my kindle off again.

Also, I finished John Grisham's The Guardians. It was very good, but the writing is pretty basic, like he just wants to get through the book, but it makes it a quick read.
