This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning all. I don't have much to say since I posted here late yesterday but I wanted to get us started. I'm feeling concerned about our daily thread. It just seems that we have less and less to say these days and things are kind of dwindling. Maybe it's no big deal since everything in life has an ebb and a flow to it. I don't know, less of of our energy seems to be spent here recently and maybe that's fine. I'm definitely feeling the loss of our daily deeper connection here but I don't know what to do about it or if anything should be done.
I have a lovely day ahead with zero plans, just supermarket and gym. Have to do my meal planning for the week so will do that now. I think I mentioned I'm trying for one vegan meal a day so that requires a bit more planning and prep. We'll see how my digestion does with this but I've read of so many health benefits I'm willing to give it a try and I'm kind of sick of animal protein right now anyway, although I did have a delicious burger last night when I was out to dinner. Ha.
It's supposed to get up near 50 today which will be welcome but there's a forecast of snow on Tuesday. I suppose I should start monitoring the weather forecasts. At least we're closed tomorrow for Veterans Day so I have plenty of time for everything.
Have a great day, all.

Good Morning ... oh boy, did I eat too much last night! DSon took us out to eat for DH's birthday, and don't you know...I was full, but came home at ate sooo much caramel popcorn anyway...darn, darn. We have NOTHING planned for today...yippee! I have no doubt that something will come up, but I will enjoy it anyway and will definitely reign it in on the food!!
Andi - I know what you mean about the thread...it surprises me how many people READ the thread though. I hope we do not dwindle down to nothing...we are such a great little support group! I saw Madame Butterfly almost 30 years ago in London....it was one of the highlights of the trip. I had to laugh at you saying you have so much advice for everyone else's problems - ha ha ha. My YDD is vegetarian and my ODD just said she is going to try Beyond Meat - it is supposed to be really good and Publix has it on sale now BOGO free so I am going to try it too (and then I can fix it when YDD is here for a week over Thanksgiving. I didn't realize that my DSister has been eating it for quite awhile. She especially likes it because it doesn't have soy either and she has to be especially careful after breast cancer. I think it is mostly pea protein....
Janet - I agree with everyone else in how kind and helpful you are to your friend in shopping for her, etc. Enjoy your hike... I think it is supposed to be a "little" warmer here today. Can't wait til you get the book. I am currently reading LOCK EVERY DOOR by Riley Sager (a pseudonym). The members of my book club say it is riveting.
Lora - we would not ordinarily watch the game that was on last night, but it was soooo intense that DH had to see the end. Oh my I just know you were biting your fingernails and are pretty upset. I can't believe how much can happen in just a minute or two.
I enjoy these mornings when I have nothing planned and can just take the time to be here....DH is still in bed and I am about to start reading...bbl

Good morning, all, Never got here yesterday, because of working at the station. It was really cold most of the day, but we only got one call. A volunteer came by and said he was going to run any calls with us, so he went, too. It was a good call, and I had to do a lot, and the guy was so excited about it that he wants to run with us more often. He was high-fiving, and saying how fun it was to run with me, and that I don't get all excited...HA! It is nice to have extra hands in the back, as long as they aren't getting in my way, and he was pretty good. He was a medic a long time ago. Andi, I haven't lost interest at all, but I can't post anything from work, I can just read what everyone else has written. Sometimes, when I get home, I think that it is too late to post anything. I really look forward to catching up with everyone, everyday. After being gone for a good while, I realize how much I have enjoyed all of you being a part of my days. I love going to the opera! I haven't been in a long time, but I saw Carmen at the San Francisco opera house, and was hooked forever. Glad you have a relaxing day today, and a day off tomorrow. We are supposed to get a little milder temps today, too. And flurries/snow on Tuesday Susie, I'm glad you got to have a nice start to your usually busy day! Sounds like you had fun last night...and now you can have a pretty relaxing day. Maybe you'll get a walk in, with the nicer weather. How is your knee doing? Lora, the corned beef sounds wonderful! I love leftovers, too. I might make something today, to enjoy during the coming week. Sorry about the loss last night! They are still the best team, in my mind. Sounds like you had such a nice day on your trip. I enjoyed the pictures, too. Janet, its nice that you will get to shop for your friend again today. Hopefully her husband is doing better, now that he has moved on to rehab. I hope you have a nice hike! I hope to bbl. I'm going to run to the grocery store and then come back and do some dusting and vacuuming. I will take the dogs for a walk too. I have YDD's little guy here, until tomorrow evening, and he is really good on our walks back in the field. He and my little pittie have been playing non-stop! I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday, and I'm waving to all! RobinMD

Hi everyone! Yes, we were not pleased with the outcome of the game last night, but there always has to be a winner and a loser. Thankfully, for quite a few years now we've seen many more Ws than Ls. I think if our QB had not come just come off of ankle surgery and been limited in practices, things would have gone differently. It took him into the 2nd have to really find his rhythm. It is what it is. Thanks for the commiseration. The corned beef and cabbage were so good! I don't think I've made that since last winter, so it was like a return of an old fave. Mark and I are both looking forward to some leftovers later. Quiet day planned for today. At the moment, just hanging around the house. I'll probably spend some time outside working on my Vitamin D levels...Lol. It's cool, but the sun is out and it's a bright gorgeous day here. I'm really enjoying having the kitty around also. Waving to everyone!

DH said that so far I have really done what I had planned for today...nothing - ha ha - and that really just means hanging around the house, and I really needed a day like this and have loved it. I did go to the clubhouse gym for about 50 minutes (and all I have to do for that is walk past the model next door and then across the street). Then I walked through 4 new houses that are under construction across the street from me the other way. I thought about going to the grocery store and decided NOPE, I am staying home today.
Robin - how nice to have a volunteer, especially one that seems to know what he is doing! We are supposed to get that snow or rain or wintry mix or whatever here on Tuesday too - I have the temp pretty warm in the house, but one reason I went to the clubhouse gym was to get warm - we even had the fireplace on today. DH seems to get colder these days too. When I came back from the gym, the house felt hot so I am going to have to MAKE myself do that more often as the weather gets colder!
Lora -the corned beef and cabbage sounds delicious. I fixed a Slow Cooker Coconut Curry Chicken dish the other day that I am loving right now. Enjoy your relaxing day and having the kitty around.

Hi again,
Well, Susie, I could compete with you for who did nothing better! HA! I did dust my room, and I'm going to vacuum it in a little bit. Other than that, I made myself dinner, and fixed something for lunch tomorrow. I have to go in earlier than usual, so I will be getting to bed a little earlier tonight. And tomorrow is my long day, so it will be even longer. I'm glad you had such a nice, relaxing time today! You are on the go so much, it seems like you don't get very many of these days "off"!
Lora, I can just imagine how nice it is to have Trinket around! She is a pretty girl...it is just enjoyable to have a little fur-baby in your day, in any capacity.. I guess you will eventually be getting the cold weather, too, but it was quite nice here today. I like it when I can leave the heat down or off, and also spend some time outside enjoying some sun.
I applied for another job today. It is a county government job, so the process with be long and drawn out, and very involved. It is fortunate that I have kept all my paperwork from previous applications like this. I am still waiting to find out if my current job will be giving me any kind of raise. At the station, I have bid on every open shift that I can do, up until mid January. When the chief opens up the schedule past that, I will bid on more! He has been kind enough to give me a lot of them. Well, I'm going to vacuum my bedroom, and get ready for work tomorrow so I can get to bed a little early. I hope everyone has a great start to their week. I may not make it back tomorrow, since I don't get home until late, but I'll be keeping up with everyone else's posts. Waving to all, RobinMD

Susie - Coconut Curry Chicken sound delicious!! Is it an easy recipe?
Robin - We've been getting into the 30s overnight for the last week or so, and Tuesday morning we have a chance of some flurries! Haha! The ground won't be cold enough for anything to stick, but it would be fun to see.
Andi - I hope the coming week is not too stressful Any more news on the merger front?
Janet - how was your hike? I hope it was a good one.
After we had our dinner (CB & C leftovers) I threw some frozen chicken thighs in the IP and made Mark some chicken salad to take for lunches this week, so just finished cleaning up behind that.
I'm sorry I don't have any exciting news to share. It's pretty quiet around here recently. I hope everybody has a good start to their week tomorrow.

Hi again. We had a long hike. Coming back seemed endless tho because we walked on the street coming back. I was trying to stay on the side on the softer carpet of pine needles and sandy ground. Pretty much everything was beginning to hurt me so was glad when we got back to the car. The ranger and his wife had offered us a ride back but my friend didnt want to get in so we didnt accept the ride. I wish we had thohen we went to a mexican restaurant. This particular place gives you so much if you order fajitas and I didnt want all that food. I ordered quesadilas but took some home too. I am just tired and I know I may be a bit stiff tommorow so took some tylenol.. good night!

I know that I haven't been around here much, but do have to read back a bit to hear about that comment about having advice for everyone, because I am sure that I am like that.
Lora, I was thinking of you when DH was watching that game yesterday. Surprising that you have had such cold weather. I think we have had 2 days this year so far when it was in the 30's when I went out to walk the dog in the morning.
I wish I could say I did nothing today, but not the case, it was a Jets home game, so I was up early, for me anyway, 7:15, getting ready and all packed up for the game, of course when I was more than 1/2 way there I started to worry that I forgot to put the cheese for the pizzas into the cooler. I made DH pull over, and it was there. What would have been much worse was if we got there and it was not in there. Seeing as the Jets played the Giants, this was all NY food, lox, hot dogs with toppings, home made pastrami, and home made pizza. We have a portable pizza oven that uses a propane tank, so we bring the dough, sauce, cheese and topping and make the pizza there. We leave home between 9 and 9:15, the game is at 1:00, and we end up getting home around 5.
Susie, happy birthday to Mr. Susie. I know that people are all talking about Beyond Burgers, and Impossible burgers. I had a Beyond Burger when I was visiting my BFF because we were helping out her DD with her kids, and she is a vegetarian, so they have been not eating meat either. They were OK, if you are a vegetarian, but if not, to me, there is no reason not to have a low fat beef burger. You certainly aren't saving calories with the Beyond Burger.
Andi, my nephew is vegan, so I sometimes have to adapt things when I know he is coming. One of his favorite things I make is a roasted cauliflower quinoa salad. I also will make kasha with vegetable broth instead of another kind of broth, he can eat most pasta, so I will saute onions and mushrooms, add in some bowties, and he loves it. I think kasha tastes much better than quinoa, and it has the same amount of protein, but of course quinoa is the new darling of foods.
Robin, good to hear that you allow volunteers to tag along. I keep thinking my nephew should do that, not the vegan one, my DB's son. He has taken the longest route possible for his education, probably a good 10 years to get his bachelors, or more, and not because he was working to put himself through school. Then he started medical school because a client of my DB's owns a medical school in St Marteen. He has had so much free time between his rotations, which he has finally finished, and he does nothing in between. I would think that he could volunteer with an ambulance or EMT team.
Janet, hope you enjoyed your hike and it wasn't too cold.
