I am posting Monday evening because my day starts early on Tuesday. I need to drop off cookies at a friend's home as well as mail some letters before my manicure and pedicure appointments. My hands have been so dry this month but she makes everything look good when she does my nails. This evening we are taking our three children and spouses to a very nice restaurant for dinner. In between these events I will continue to work on what is left on the dining room table. Two of my neighbors are coming for tea and cookies Wednesday afternoon and I want the house to look clean even though I won't have time for a better cleaning until Thursday. The floors look great now and I wish they would stay that way. Here is my floor cleaner's tip for dealing with stains: take a white terry cloth washcloth size towel and put it in water. Squeeze out the excess and put it in the microwave till it is just warm. Use it to clean a furniture stain. A lot of the cleaners you can buy for furniture stains will actually discolor the fabric and if there is an animal protein stain like juice from meat, chicken etc. you need to get it out immediately. My daughter is getting new furniture this week and I was asking him how she can protect it. She needs to use 3M Scotchguard at least 3-4 times letting it dry thoroughly between each spraying. That's not easy in the cold weather. Susi, I hope you continue to feel better and that goes for anyone else who is under the weather.

Good morning Audrey and AWF. So happy that you'll be getting a manicure and pedicure. My hands are also very dry this time of the year. I'm forever putting hand lotion on them. Great tips for getting stains out. Enjoy your day!
When I woke up our temperature was -1.3!!!! I pray it warms up in a hurry. Luigi will NOT be a happy camper going out in this....nor will anyone!
Today we will deliver more 'goodies' around to our dear neighbors who are so wonderful to us. Other than that not sure what's on our agenda.
I'm still holding my own in the weight department, although I really need to step up with the dairy. Always something to work on!

Good morning, Audrey & Ann and AWF!
I've been using a high-intensity hand cream at night and sleeping in mittens to try to keep my fingertips from cracking from dryness; so far, it's working (and I don't rub hand cream in my eyes in my sleep).
I must go back and try to catch up on the board in general and this thread in particular. Mondays and Fridays I do not have access to it most of the day (I'm only on one computer - the DayJob'Puter).
Yesterday was a wild day. I left the MousekeHouse around 5:15 PM and then we had the Kressling & the Zigster here until K'ling2 finished wrestling practice (8:30-ish). We fed them, gave all of them dessert, and then sent them on their merry way with Son#1. I have a dentist appt today - a regular checkup and cleaning <fingers & toes crossed>. Then I'll have them again; K'ling2 has a wrestling match out of town, and Toots has band rehearsal.
DayJob-wise, it was OK but I forgot to punch out/in from lunch. And I have to ask HR for an explanation of my pay stub - looks like I won't get paid OT rate if I have a holiday/day off in the same week - because it's not over 40 WORKING HOURS? Maybe. There's also a Vacation day that should have been coded as a PERSONAL day. <meh>.
Looks like Son#1 will be hosting KressMess Eve this year. Son#2 will take on the Cousins' Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 1/7, and MissMouse will do New Year's Day. Chicken & ribs are ordered. We can also donate a cheesecake and cherry topping on the side. Our job is done.
WHAT: Must not yield to the frustrations of the DayJob by burying them in unwise food choices. Must also not yield to the siren call of all the foods I'm feeding to DaBoyz that have no place in my own menu planning.
HOW: That's the key word - PLANNING. I'm even looking ahead to the menus for the rest of the week and the weekend. I don't look at it like a punishment, but as an assurance that whatever I eat, I'm getting the nutrients that I need FIRST and the random feel-good foods in enough quantity to... well... feel good, but not pretend that brownies and gingerbread men are in the GHGs.
Must get my breakfast made and my lunch prepped. It's going to be another long day. Have a healthy-eating one, all!

Morning ALL!
Down this way we are having a warm-up weatherwise--- works for me.
Audrey, enjoy your family dinner. And your tea tomorrow afternoon sounds so neat. I have a friend who used to live in England, and she was always inviting me over for tea and biscuits. Taught all her granddaughters about having tea.
Ann, IMO no one would be happy going out in that temp. Yes, there is always something we need to work on.
MJ, I think you should write books --- you just have a way with words. Hope you day runs smoothly.
Naomi, hope your jaw is better soon. Hope your sister is doing good.
How - lots of tea and water today. Salt Mountain cooked lunch yesterday, shrimp and pasta with rolls. I did find a tomato over there to add to my plate. They eat no salads. Anyway, it was very good.
Am off to Bible Study where we will have roast beef po-boys. One Lady cooking the roast, and another's DD is making the po-boy rolls, the rest bringing stuff to go with sandwiches.
Got the AWARE glasses tightly in place --- as Naomi said.
Hope all who follow have a great day!

Good Morning, Got the house to myself. Drinking coffee and wondering what exactly to do today. I did not finish up my shopping yesterday as planned. I did go to town but met a friend for lunch and surprised my DD by stopping by her work and bringing her a fancy coffee and a donut. I did get a little shopping done but I have to make one more trip in to town. I've had a healthy breakfast and plan to KOKO the rest of the day. Audrey, a manipedi sounds very nice enjoy that as well a the rest of your activities today. Ann, WOW I don't believe it has ever been that cold here in my neck of the woods. Congrats on the WL! MJ, fantastic job planning and staying on track! Naomi, I can hear the love in your "voice" for your family. You are blessed and they are blessed to have you. Bee, enjoy your Bible study, sounds nice. June, I hope your appt goes well. Good luck with the water today. I drank a little more yesterday but still need improvement. Everyone have a warm, OP day!

Bee enjoy bible study and the po-boys. LOL to SALT MOUNTAIN and no salads. Amazing how some folks eat, eh? I'd be lost without veggies. They are my best friends when trying to 'bulk up'.
Luigi DID go out but make his potty going very quick! Carl was a happy camper. I sat that trip out!
Naomi, yes, do check the calories of those mixes. I had one, but returned it when I couldn't find any that were not sweetened with aspartame. That stuff gives me a headache. Now I see all sorts of different brands being sold, but no long have the machine. I just drink water now and will add a squeeze of lemon to it or lime or even ginger extract and plenty of ice. I miss the 'fizz' so sometimes I will get the sparking water. Polar brand here has nothing in it which is good.
LaDonna sometimes it's nice to have the house to yourself. Enjoy your quiet time.
I just finished breakfast and coffee and two mugs of water. I'm off to a good start......

Audrey β Iβm glad you are pleased with the floors. Enjoy your mani/pedi and your tea. And enjoy dinner with the kids! Ann β Stay warm! It was a balmy 27 here at 5 a.m. Fortunately, no wind. Unfortunately, MJ, itβs not nice but perfectly legal. At least you are getting the extra hours instead of the straight 40. Just keep marching with your plan in place. Naomi β Love the picture. I have several friends that like to go overboard for Christmas. I know they will all enjoy everything. Enjoy the poβ boys Bee. Last night was my last with my bible study group as they move to daytime meetings. Iβm sad about that. Good luck at the doctor June. Hope itβs a good report. LaDonna β Hope you get that shopping finished up. While I am not letting this cold stop me, it is very annoying and making me tired. I found out this morning about an unplanned dinner tomorrow night and notice of office lunch on Thursday. Dinner is easy (tuna tartar and seaweed salad) but lunch will be a bunch of carp food that I cannot politically avoid. At least there will be (overdressed) salad which I will focus on. Then again, maybe I will find a pleasant surprise.

Bee and Ann - We were talking about that at dinner last night how few of the younger generation focus on veggies. They were all saying how their kids and grandkids eat little if any. And like me, they all grew up with at least one regular and one starchy veggie on the plate.

GOooooood morning everyone! Enjoyed catching up w/ yesterday's posts and today's conversations.. Audrey-- haha ha DHs are clueless b/c we handle those things and actually look at the house. I have relaxed my standards considerably, b/c ... I just have. A recovering perfectionist has to be ever vigilant, right? Enjoy your lovely tea. Honestly, I think that a plate of two to three tasty cookies served w/ a delicious tea in a lovely setting is the perfect way to enjoy holiday treats. Have a lovely meal w/ your family tonight. Glad that you snuck in a mani/pedi today for some "me time." Mj- oh, wow, you really are a lifesaver. And I know that the grands love being w/ granfma. You always make it all work. Great job not losing sight of your own needs and not taking out the frustrations of the day job on your body. It would be easy to slide into that trap. Not worth it, yet easy. Are u sure @ the Gingermen not being a ghg? It mostly spice, right? Susi & Ann- hope that you bother feel much better today Susi, . Is there any sign of that cold breaking up? Hope so. Ha ha ha... one of my former students, Lamar Mary was a Raider and is now a Packer. Before & during class he always wanted my attention, and whenever I saw home on campus, he gave me the warmest hug. Nice young man. GLad that he made it to the NFL? Hope that your chicken was delicious. Ann- nice to have so many wonderful friends around your development. We are lucky to have a young couple next door who we like. Good neighbors are a blessing. Yiu could be right about the nuts & tummy issue. Too much fat doesn't sit well on my stomach any more. Great job getting that scale to move downward! LaDonna- too bad that your lil visitor wasn't quite herself. Next time... plz send some of that southern heat up the coast and over to the northern tier. Actually, we are getting a warm up for Xmas. And some stranger was complaining about it, b/c there will not be snow 4Xmas. Seriously, I will take dry roads for safer travel any day over a pretty snowfall. Bee j-- ohhhh your Bible Study offering sounds wonderful. Pp-- homemade po' Boys. Yummmmmm. Worth it! Hope that your study leads to the kind of pondering that you relish. Tammary- grading during finals week is a grind, pure and simple. For whatever reason, I have not yet heard from the Registrar regarding a NAF (nonattendance F) that I issue. That seems odd. Other wise I am done w/ Fall semester. And today I am restoring order in my study. Naomi-- why am I not surprised that your DH is a big gift giver!? Trigger sounds like he could be related to my DH. He's a keeper. Mine is too, but I feel sorry for him. I really am not a stuff person. So I try to remind my loved ones that I'd rather have an experience w/ them to make a memory than a thing. Good thinking about the Soda Stream. You don't want to drink a lot of flavored water if it isn't naturally infused or sugar free. Glad that your Rebecca has happiness in her life again.

Ann, it is 31 here now and Lily Belle hasn't opened an eye, still asleep on her bed. I must walk her though before the appointment so we do a vigorous loop around a few streets and she can then return to sleep. MJ, KressMess is the best word ever! So sorry you are having payroll issues. What a terrible job with so much unneeded stress. Naomi, I spoil the grandkids too. My older daughter is having us over for Christmas breakfast and son will have us over for Christmas lunch. Both times they are saving gifts for the kids to open in front of us. I bought the 4 year old a toy dog he can walk. The baby and next one up are getting Love to Learn Elmo and the other two have lego sets plus the second and third gifts if not more. I even ordered two games for me to play with them at our house. I have not looked at a Soda Stream for the very reasons you are questioning it. Let us know what you find out. Bee, on our cruise we had two buffet lunches. I filled one half of my plate with salad, grilled vegetables and regular 0 point salad choices. Couldn't help myself but watch all of the people, especially men, not put one salad item on their heaping plates. Susi, if you have not used this excuse recently, your stomach is upset so that is why you cannot eat too much at the carp food lunch. It works well. My younger one had a lot of stomach issues for a few years and I saw how she could get away with not having food forced on her. La Donna, how kind of you to bring your DD coffee and a treat. Visiting with family and friends is so important. I could invite lots of people over for tea but these two neighbors are special to me. The one who lives two doors to the right lost the love of her life three years ago. She has a daughter and other family members in town but it is so lonely for her. She is in her mid 80s and still exercises, wears makeup and dresses well. She takes care of her house and pool by herself and cooks and cleans, a real inspiration. The other is my neighbor whose husband spends most of his time running a business in LA. She is alone so much and now that his mother passed away, he is spending more time in LA fixing up the family home which we both know will be bulldozed by whoever buys the valuable property. It was built in 1946 and never updated with old wooden windows, not AC and an old kitchen. It is in a very exclusive area where a lot of movie people live in million dollar mansions. Anyway, selfishly I just like the 3 of us together and don't want others to interrupt our time. Hope that makes sense. June and Naomi, I hope your appointments go well. Now I am totally craving a homemade roast beef po-boy
