Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Cloudy with a high of 37, chance of snow showers this morning.
Gareth, our morning here today could have snow/rain showers, but it is not here yet, so maybe it won't come. Thursday is the day that is looking yucky, with heavy rain in the morning predicted. That will get rid of any snow left from last week, which the deer hunters would have wanted for tracking, come this weekend. Well, I switched back to the Blue program, yesterday. I hate to say this, but I found that with the green program, the 30 points was to many. Even tho the zero points foods were less, it was still too many, plus having the weeklies. The blue program did work for me, back when I was getting exercise, so now that I am getting more, I will stick with what worked.
Pinky, yes, lol, we saw the picture of the 2 pronged deer. That was amazing!!! Those are the kind of deer that I wish the hunters would just leave alone. You probably didn't hear about the 3 men in southwestern Wisconsin were charged with poaching? They shot at least 40 deer, just to kill them!!
Marsha, we too went to Kohl's Saturday, and happily, I made a killing! I always, after checking out, wish I would have needed more things. I was glad to get out of there, as it was so busy. After going to Walmart, I was positive it was busier at Kohl's than Walmart.
Anngie, as to your question about our elderly friends; the wife will not go with her DH, not yet. She insists she can't leave all her treasures at her house. This has been such a sore spot with her children, and even my DH and I, as she should not be out there, all by herself. What is happening is, right now they are putting her DH in a 1 bedroom apartment, as the new 2 bedrooms are not available till Dec 1st. So on Dec 2nd they will move him again, to the 2 bedroom, then sometime that month, SUPPOSEDLY she will move in with him. My DH said that DF is not in good shape, as he hardly eats, can not walk, or get out of bed, has a catheter, so it does not sound good for long term. I don't know what my DH will do, when his DF passes away, as that man was like DH father.
Carol, once we switched our car insurance to just basic coverage, our insurance agent told us to NEVER swerve, if and when a deer crosses our path, as we can do more damage to the car, by actually loosing control of the car, and possibly hitting a tree, or another car. So I was glad that living up in the woods that I never hit one. I switched back to the blue program, from the green one, as the blue is closest to the one we were doing before they did this thing with 3 different colored programs. And yes, there is activity points. Hope your ear is all better. Oh, I remember those days, when the grand babies would come over, and we ran around putting things away, and making sure the gate to the basement was working correctly. (We took the basement door off years ago.). You will have a fun thanksgiving!!!!
Robin, oh my, sorry you all had to go thru that firing!!! It not only affects the person fired, it affects the whole office. We too love meatloaf, as long as I do not make it too much.
Did the chair side Yoga yesterday at the Y, after walking 2 miles on the treadmill, and there was one thing the trainer did that I could not do, as soon as I tried, I pulled a muscle in my upper arm. Then, the rest of the class I really got into it, well, I guess it was too much, as my back hurt all the rest of the day and last night. Guess I learned my lesson!!
As I mentioned to Gareth, I switched back to the Blue program. Having 30 daily points, and weekly points was just too much for me, I felt like I was not even trying to eat less and wiser. I think that might be a good program for new people, to WW.
Would like to stay home and get christmas decorations hauled up here from the garage, plus get the wreath up here that is going on the deck railing. Just not sure, since I won't be able to go to the Y tomorrow.
Have a nice day everyone.

I walked the dog this morning. It was 32 but not windy so not too bad. I bundled up. Short walk.
Not much going on here. Didn't do much of anything last night.
I started Resistance Women. Only a chapter or so into it.
Robin - your meatloaf comment made me want meatloaf tonight. I'll take some hamburger out of the freezer when I am home at lunch.

Busy morning. I'm ready for a break. Laundry and walking done. I've finally gotten into I Am Watching You so that kept me entertained while I walked and did the laundry. Work later.
Karen, sounds the same for us Thursday. It was foggy when I got up. Sun is in and out now.
Robin, I love meatloaf but have been disappointed in it the last couple of times I've made it so I think I need to find a new recipe. What's your recipe?
Carol, I never had an earache as a child but I made up for it as an adult. Nothing worse than an earache. Hope yours is better today.

My ear is much better. It's not hurting at all today. Thanks for the thoughts.
Robin, I'm sorry about the turmoil at your office. About a year into my DH's job, he fired someone. Quite a few people thanked him for finally getting rid of her. She had no people skills and said some awful things to people she supervised. We don't how or why she got away with behaving in a bad way for so long.
I love meatloaf, too. I got out of the habit of making it when I did WW because it was point friendly. When I was growing up, my mom made it only once a month because my dad didn't like it very much. I try to make it when DS is here because he likes it.
Karen, I hope your friend will want to be with her DH and go to assisted living. I think not wanting to decide what do with her stuff is one reason my MIL didn't want to move out of her house. I know she would have been upset with some of the things we gave to thrift shops because they were her treasures as you so well put it. We kept some things as did DH's sister and we chose some things for her room at the nursing home, but most of it was donated. DH had tried to talk her into going through things and she could tell us what she wanted to keep, but she wouldn't even consider it.
That's awful about the poachers. I can't imagine why people do that.

Karen, usually Assisted Living facilities don't take people who need quite that much care, I hope it all works out for him. I guess from what you are saying the wife does not live in a "neighborhood", so I suppose not the best idea to be alone. Otherwise, really no harm in it. My DM lived in her own home until she died, and she was independent until 2 months before. My meatloaf recipe is pretty easy, but my DH likes it. I use about 1 1/2 lbs of chopped meat, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs, although I don't really measure, 1/2 of an 8 ounce can tomato sauce, something like Del Monte, 1 TB Italian seasoning, 1 tsp garlic powder, salt & pepper to taste. I mix that up, make a loaf, and pour the other 1/2 can of sauce over it, and bake for about an hour at 350 degrees. I use a convection oven, so it might be longer than an hour in a regular oven. I always half left over, but I love left over meatloaf, especially if I treat myself to a sandwich, with ketchup. Yesterday I finished 2 books. The Tender Land, and One True Loves. Everyone loved The Tender Land, but to me it was a 4, just good, not great. I loved One True Loves, it is a romance, but a great story. I can't give a synopsis because it would give away the whole book.
Tonight I have mah jongg, and there are only 4 of us playing, we usually rotate out, but this winter as well, 1 of our group is spending the whole winter in Florida. She left already, but is coming back for Thanksgiving, so she might play the week after with us. We don't eat as much that way, but I also don't read when I am out, and if we lose, we don't have a bettor to pay, of course we don't have a bettor to be paid by if we win either, assuming they did not bet on us. Thursday I have my book club.
