This is a conservative thread to allow those with conservative views to express themselves. We welcome Republicans, Tea Party folks, and those who believe in the Constitution as written, not as interpreted by liberal judges. If you have liberal views we invite you to participate in a civil and respectful conversation. We would respectfully request that if you cannot post in a respectful and civil manner to refrain from doing so until you can. Good discussions are great - insulting arguments are not. We welcome discussions about our weight loss journey.

I know there is more to the story about Obama wiretapping Trump's offices. On the surface it seems counterproductive for Trump to give a very well-received speech to Congress and then follow it with a controversial tweet about Obama wiretapping without providing any evidence that it happened. What do you all think about it? Why would Trump raise controversy like this on the heels of a successful speech to Congress?

What a busy week last week....didn't get to post at all, read when I had some moments.
The Oscars....what a joke. Maybe these celebs will stop acting like asses when their wallets become lighter and when people don't go to see their movies. shut up and act!! I really don't care about you political views....but, there are many people with not a lot of substance that cling to every word they say.
Trump's address to Congress was the best I've ever seen/heard. Did not watch it live, had to watch later. the dems really disgusted me with sitting on their hands....and the white pantsuits really made a statement....NOT. I encourage them to keep up this behavior so they are guaranteed to lose more seats everywhere in government.
Gary, I have a theory about why Trump tweets certain things. Apparently the Obama administration twice filed something to authorize wiretapping at Trump Tower....the first request was rejected, the second was not. Don't quote me, though, I've read through a couple of different documents and stories, but the truth is in there somewhere. Plus with all of the "leaks".....there are too many staffers that are firmly entrenched in many positions throughout the gov't....many were put in place by Obama, and they are doing everything they can to throw a monkey wrench into the works. Since the vast majority of the media are pissed off because their Hillary did not win, they will not pursue any kind of story that puts Obama into a bad light, unless they truly cannot ignore a story if it is already out there. Trump, by tweeting and bypassing the media, gets to plant a hint of the story so that it CAN'T be ignored. I'm interested to see how this all plays out.
And anyone that thinks "oh, Obama would never do such a thing".....you probably don't know the story about Bob Rosen, a reporter from Fox News. The Obama administration hacked into his e-mail and then hacked into his PARENT'S e-mail. Lib lurkers probably never heard this story because their channel is on MSNBC or CNN. There was another reporter from Fox that had her computer compromised WHILE she was writing a story.....do a little research and find the story for yourself.
How funny is it that the media is repeating Russia/Trump over and over and over again.....but nary a word about Pelosi and Russia and Clintons and Russia. I barely watch any TV news.....I had been after the election, but now it is the same stuff. Lin

Oh, and about Kelly Ann and the couch photo. Early last week, this was the story: Democrat Cedric Richmond made the joke during a comedy routine at last week’s annual Washington Press Club Foundation congressional dinner. Citing the picture of Conway kneeling on a couch in the Oval Office, Richmond said Conway looked “kind of familiar there in that position.” Was that disgusting or what??? Nary a word about it on the usual lib channels and websites. However, and this is hilarious, on CNN's Meet the Nation (?) on Sunday, the reporter asked Nancy Pelosi about it and why Richmond has refused to apologize. She says "oh, this is the first I'm hearing about this.".. Say what??? It has been the buzz for at least four days. He pressed her for a comment and she went into a convoluted tirade about how Trump shouldn't be president because of the taped comments he made a decade ago to that Billy Bush guy. Oh, but Clinton's behavior was okay??? It took until Sunday night for Richmond to apologize. Can you imagine for a moment that someone like Ryan or Pence or some other conservative rep said the same thing about Valerie Jarrett? It would be headline news for DAYS, shouts for resignation would be heard, etc. etc. Yet.....the media remains mostly silent. I've been watching some clips of Pelosi from some of her appearances the last few months.....she seems totally unhinged and seems to be babbling and not making sense. I really don't understand why the dems continue to vote to have her lead them. But....keep it coming!! Lin

I know there is some method behind Trump's "madness" - he's doing these controversial tweets for a reason and I guess the reasons will come out sooner or later, but it seems to do him damage while we are trying to figure out the reasons. He is highly unusual in his approach, but it seems to be working because he's getting more work done in the short time he's been President than Obama did in 8 years.

Lin, great post At the moment I am trying to ignore a lot of what is going on and I pray a lot for this country.
Gary, I wouldn't have a clue as to how President Trump works but he didn't get where he is in the business world by acting stupid. While he has the press and everyone else in an uproar over what he says he is quietly behind the scenes making deals. So I am waiting to see how it all turns out.

Word has it that the organizers of the women's march are now planning a "day without women" in which women are encouraged not to show up for work. As a result schools across the country are closing in anticipation since the majority of teachers are women. If I were an employer and women who worked for me didn't show up for work they would be fired on the spot. Walmart has a no call, no show policy, and if an employee has 3 of them they are fired.

I just checked my paystub for this week. Not only do I have a small raise in pay this week but also have a $385 quarterly bonus!! That will help with the work needed on my porch.

So my DD, who is a home infusion therapy nurse shouldn't see her patients tomorrow. They can go without their meds for a day. Her company is all women, so all patients will be on their own for a day. All nurses should take off, that'll show the powers that be how important women are. Kids will lose a day of school, boy that will show the powers that be. Mom's will have to find care for their kids while they go to work, defying the "progressive" women who thought this up.
Are the founders of this protest willing to pay the wage of the protesters who will lose a day's pay or their jobs? What a bunch of horses' patoots that thought this one up. Opps, forgot, women day care providers should close, female medical personnel of all branches should stay home.

Gary, congratulations on your pay raise and bonus. Don't spend it all at one shop.
Geri, When is this Women's Day supposed to take place? How do they think they will benefit by taking a day of to protest? A few weeks ago wasn't there a day of protest by Hispanics to not shop or spend money anywhere. When I was shopping that day I noticed lots of Hispanics out shopping. I think that they also took the day of work. and some of them lost their jobs when they went back to work.

Meg, it's tomorrow. A couple of school systems had to cancel school because of teachers calling in saying they would not be at work. These women, fighting for rights, have certainly not considered the rights children have to education.

Yep, rights only apply to the radical left radicals, not to anybody else.

Geri, I live in my own little world. I hadn't heard that it is Women's Day tomorrow. Devin is going to school unless the teacher just don't show up. it will be interesting to see what happens. My DGD hasn't said anything about not going to work, Of course she wouldn't join these women These radical women who are trying to stir up trouble don't represent all women. I think most women would rather keep their pay check and their jobs.
I know you are curled up in bed and probably asleep by now as you are 3 hours a head of me. I am off to bed very soon.

There is one pretty far left woman who works at Walmart I am semi friends with. I wonder if she will show up for work. She was there today but shopping on her day off and didn't say anything about it.

I took a very short peek at the "other" thread to see if they were talking about the "women's day off". Didn't see that but they provided this list:
1. HR 861 Terminate the Environmental Protection Agency 2. HR 610 Vouchers for Public Education 3. HR 899 Terminate the Department of Education 4. HJR 69 Repeal Rule Protecting Wildlife 5. HR 370 Repeal Affordable Care Act 6. HR 354 Defund Planned Parenthood 7. HR 785 National Right to Work (this one ends unions) 8. HR 83 Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Bill 9. HR 147 Criminalizing Abortion (“Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act”) 10. HR 808 Sanctions against Iran
Of course, they want NO votes on all of them, which is our signal to urge a YES vote on all of them.
