Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Yesterday was a warm day, and we will have a repeat today, with a high of 46. That storm coming tomorrow night looks better for just rain here, up north will get the big amounts of snow.
Pinky, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Hope you had a glass of wine to celebrate!!! Yes, now that your harvesting is done, at least you can exhale, and not worry about snow. Boy, being two steps ahead of Mother Nature sure was stressful, wasn't it? Hope your guys have better luck hunting than my DH. He has not even seen 1! I took the ground venison and mild italian sausage out of the freezer yesterday, to make the dressing today. With DD surgery tomorrow morning, then having to be at their house Wed morning at 5:30 to baby sit DGD till DSIL gets home at 10 am, I don't want to worry about getting that made Wed. I can imagine how much work you have, to get ready!
Anngie, about carpets, back at the old house we would rent a rug doctor and clean them ourselves. Here, of course is a different story. We have been very careful to keep them clean. I suppose we could clean them ourselves, what the heck would they care? I sure can tell I am getting old, what with forming the tree, and then decorating it took the whole weekend! Forming it was harder than decorating! What I heard about Kohl's is they have not met their expectations of earnings. Target and TJMaxx are taking over in popularity. Funny, but I can count on 1 hand the times I have been to those 2 stores this year.
Robin, congrats on your team winning!!! Wish the Packers could have won, looks like they just can't get it together when they have to travel to the west coast. Both games they had to play out there this season, they lost. I love my Kindle Fire, as I can do so much on it, except if I go on Google and go to certain websites, like, some shopping ones, it boots me off. I have tried to figure it out, by going thru the settings, and looking thru their help section, but there just is no explaining it. Not going to loose any sleep over it, that is what I have my phone and laptop for. DD is having her surgery tomorrow morning. This should have been done a year ago, in my opinion. She will be a new and happy person when she heals from the surgery. I will be running to Target later today to get the fitted sheets for DH, I will check out their grocery area. I know the Target in our area was expanding that dept.
Carol, sounds like things will work out for your DDIL. Thank goodness, right? With being in charge of the phone system for so long, on my job, I have dealt with a lot of weird people, and a lot of very nice people. I just got so fed up with that being one of the main part of my job, that when I would go home, if the landline rang, I would just avoid it. DH would get mad at me, because that meant he would have to get up and answer it, lol. Poor baby!!
Going to run to the Y to get my 2 miles in on the treadmill, but not staying for the chair side yoga, just way too sore yet. And I have a lot to do today. Maybe Friday I will get back to that class.
Hi to all who are returning from the weekend. Have a nice day!

Stopping by quick before heading out to work. I'm enjoying Under The Influence. Anyone else read it?
Karen, is this the DD that's having weight loss surgery?
Pinky, what a relief I'm sure to have harvest done. Now you can relax a little. TG at your house?
Carol, how's DDIL? Scary what happened.
Hi to everyone. Gotta head out....

Hello Everyone! We got a new server at work last week so half of Thursday and Friday I was twiddling my thumbs unable to use my computer. Then when I got on all of my favorites were gone so I couldn't get to this website, but this morning lo and behold the favorites are back. Yippee!
I'll try to get through what I missed later.
I thought I had nothing going on yesterday but apparently I had theater tickets. A friend asked me to join her theater group last spring so I handed over money to buy season tickets for the community theater, never wrote down the dates, and promptly forgot. I missed the first play completely, and yesterday at 1:45 she called to ask if I was coming (the play started at 2:00). Fortunately I had just finished putting the groceries away so I dashed out the door. The play was pretty bad but we went to dinner after and that was fun. And come to find out that she has been texting me and getting back answers like I don't know who you are - because she had the wrong number. (and I wondered why I hadn't heard from her in a long time!). This is the friend that is picking up dd at school on Wednesday when she gets her nephew.
Still reading Resistance Women. Still think it's good not great but a good lesson in the rise of Hitler and Fascism in prewar Germany. I imagine at some point we will get to the war but so far I am up to 1934 or so.

DS and DDIL got back home okay. We'll just have to see how the new med works out. Yes, it was scary how things can go from normal to an emergency in a short time. I don't know what this will do to their Thanksgiving plans. They may just want to stay home and try to relax.
We have a community theater here, too. We've never bought season tickets because there are some plays we don't care to see. We have gone 3 times in the past year which is a record for us. We saw 2 musicals, Music Man and Newsies and then one mystery, The Mouse Trap. We had seen The Mouse Trap with DS and DDIL back in the spring in their town and it was awful. The one here at home was so much better. They are going to It's A Wonderful Life for their Christmas play. I know I'm in the minority, but I don't love that movie as much as others do.
Karen, hope your DD's surgery goes well.

Just a shot in the dark Carol, but my friend, years ago, when her children were very young, and something called Guillain Barre Syndrome. Some of the symptoms sound similar to what your DDIL had.
Karen, yes, we were thrilled with the win, and there were some highlights. Plus, the Raiders were favored, and we really killed them. All around it was a great game. ANd, we got to watch it from the comfort of our nice, warm, dry house.
Marsha, I guess i was late in seeing your message about the site, I just saw it and emailed you.
Gareth, I have not heard of that book, but will have to look it up if you think it's good.
I am reading The Hearts Invisible Furies, it is an interesting book, not a fast read, but I am enjoying it. I also came up for the new Karen Slaughter book from the Will Trent series, The Last Widow. I ended up with 2 other books, one was a free one from Amazon Prime, the other was talked about a lot and was only $1.99, so I bought it. Those are The Tuscan Child, and Have You Seen Luis Velez?
Karen, so far DH hasn't said anything one way or another about the Fire, but I know he was reading from it last night. I have a laptop, actually a Surface, so I can pop off the screen only, but that is heavier. I would probably use that anyway if I was ordering something online. I might use a Fire if I were travelling.
