Popping in again before I shut down for the day. Happy to report that I remained the same weight! It may catch up with me tomorrow....but that's okay. I'll deal with it then. GMTA Sue. I'm going to pick up a turkey breast tomorrow and cook it up so that we too will have our 'leftovers' Your pork chops sound delish. We had the rest of the chicken broccoli Alfredo that as left over from earlier in the week. We had a big lunch so supper will be something nice and lite. Our tree is up and what little decorations we put up are all done. Looks pretty 'festive' in here. I'm listening to Christmas music via Alexa. Pam that is awesome that you are only up .2! Good job Nice that you enjoyed your family gathering. LOL to sugar pumping up the volume. Judy I know you are enjoying yourself Time for me to relax a bit before we take miss LuLa out for one last walk of the day.

Well, I attempted my hospice visit, but my little lady was sound asleep at 10:15 when I got there. The nurse said she was all tuckered out from yesterday and evidently also had a restless night, so I didn't attempt to wake her. I'll document the attempt and go back next week.
Since I was too early for yoga, I decided to head to a nearby park with a nice walking track. I listened to my audio book and got in a little over a mile, then headed to yoga. DH was waiting for me when I got home and we headed off right away. I enjoyed my chicken shawarma dinner(extra hummus, no rice) with a side salad and brought 1/2 home. We went to Home Depot and picked out a ceiling fan and I found some beautiful poinsettias in decorative containers @ 3-$12! I got 3 that size and a couple more. Then we did a little grocery shopping and came home.
While DH installed the new ceiling fan, I puttered around cleaning the kitchen and re-potting plants, trimming others and putting most of them back outside. When we have another freeze, I will bring them back in and put them by the westward facing windows in the library for the duration of winter. Six pots are chrysanthemums from All Saints Day. I trimmed off all the dead blooms and will baby them this winter and plant in the ground next spring. I have 2 white, 2 bronze and 2 wine-colored ones.
After a supper of leftovers and a shower, I plan to cuddle up and read before an early bedtime. We will be up and out shortly after 8:00 AM to pick up DD1 & Abby (and Anna, if she decides to come) and go to BTR to pick up DD2. We are going to a Renaissance Festival in Hammond, about 1 1/2 hour drive from home. We took Jude and Anna several times and they loved it, but Abby has never been. We plan to be there when it opens at 10:00 AM, spend several hours and leave no later than 3:00 PM, so we can get home in time for the LSU game. I am hoping to get in lots of walking. As I recall, the food choices are not WW-friendly, so I may pack a healthy snack for the trip home and skip lunch.
Sue - It sounds like you enjoyed Thanksgiving Day very much. Pecan pie is a favorite of mine. I am also very fond of pork chops and acorn squash. With the texts/pictures from the phone number--is it one you could block? Or would that cause a problem? Hope your DH feels better soon.
Judy - I saw on the news there were damaging storms at the Cape. I hope your property is okay. I know you are busy spoiling your DGS.
Have a great evening all!

Good morning all. It's sunny but cold out there. I opened up the screen room to 'smell the air' and closed it immediately. Will walk, but will dress for the occasion Later........

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday! We have a cold morning, but no wind. DH took a turn for the worse night before last with coughing and gagging all night long, keeping us both awake. We restarted his cold meds and added an antibiotic - and he hates taking pills!! He came home worn out and chilled yesterday and it seemed to take forever to get him caught up with himself. We had a wedding today with reception some distance away this evening. We deliberated long and hard about it - and he said he "could make it" but moreso if we only went to the reception and skipped the wedding (something we NEVER do) but I reminded him that he would find himself all the way across town late tonight (and he has been going to bed by 8 or so since he hasn't been feeling well). We finally concluded we'd have to send our congrats and hugs by my VBF and her DH (who are also attending). We are all bummed about it, but I really need to get DH well and back to himself. He's been under the weather for far too long now. When he saw our PCP, he didn't show signs of infection (yet) but questions they asked him have come to fruition since, and I called Friday and the office is closed until Monday.
DH brought up our Christmas tree yesterday, and set it up this morning. I have been working on decorating it and plan to get it all done today. We have some self-decorated Christmas boxes downstairs that I typically place underneath it until we start wrapping real gifts. When I return the plastic storage bins downstairs, I will bring up the boxes (which stack inside each other).
Pam ~ Yes, I also thought of blocking that phone number. I got two separate texts (with different photos) from that number so apparently she doesn't know who is on those groups?? But it did annoy me. Then then to send out a text on Friday morning thanking those who attended (what??). I mentioned to DH that I may have to just block her number to avoid any more aggravation in the future, and he was in agreement. Thanks for your input as well :-)
Ann ~ I had to LOL about you opening the screen room to "smell the air" as that is something I would do. GFY for knowing when it's better to step back indoors.
Judy ~ Praying for safe travels for you and yours.
Since we hadn't planned to be home tonight, I had to think of something for supper. DH's tummy isn't 100% yet (guess pizza is out of the running?) so we decided on grilled turkey burgers and the homemade butternut squash soup that I have in the fridge. Those should be gentle on his medicine-plagued tummy. He decided to discontinue the decongestants as they were (1) making him spacey and (2) upsetting his tummy. Hopefully by evening he'll be feeling better!!
I better go finish up my tree decorating so I can get everything put away. BBL. Make a great day!!

Shopping is done. Got a great deal on a fresh turkey that we will cook tomorrow. I have a beef roast with red potatoes celery carrots onion and parsnips in the crock pot. That will work for tonight's supper.
Walmart was a complete zoo. The Marines were outside collecting toys for tots. We always contribute to that cause...especially seeing as Carl is a Marine lol. We stopped and chatted with them for a bit and I excused myself and waited in the car. The cold was getting to me.
Now that we are home, the wind has died down and we have a good deal of sunshine. We are expecting snow this weekend. Hopefully it won't be bad on Monday as I have my surgical appointment at 1:00 p.m. If need be, I'll just call early in the a.m. and reschedule it.
Sue praying that DH's tummy issues get better so that he can enjoy supper and the rest of the evening. Meds can really cause tummy flare ups. They generally do with me as well. So sorry you had to miss the wedding. I know you made the right decision ((hugs))
Will try to cbl.

Hi friends,
i wont write too much tonight due to the late hour, but we’re baaack! Because of the predictions for a big snowstorm tomorrow, we drove back in a lot of traffic today. We took our time and zipped over the Tappan Zee bridge ( now Mario Cuomo bridge) with hardly any traffic, but hit a lot in Connecticut and MA. We stopped for lunch at Panera and got home about 5 pm in time to collect the pups at the doggie “inn and spa” and get the car unloaded. Everyone had the same idea on the roads today but better to have traffic than worry about travel in a blizzard! I grocery shopped and also tried to buy a small turkey but there were none left! So, I picked up a large oven stuffer to make our own little dinner tomorrow with turnip, squash and mashed potatoes. It’ll be a good day for it!
we had a wonderful time in NJ. The baby is so doggone adorable! Loads of hair and smiles all the time. He is 7 months old now and crawling all over. He’s going to be one to watch! Happy, happy guy who is on a strict schedule of eating and sleeping and thriving with it. We had a very nice time at our DDILs sister’s home on Thanksgiving about an hour away. She’s the newlywed and she and her DH did nearly ALL the cooking. They refused help. There were 17 for dinner. We brought several bottles of wine, and a few brought appetizers. The turkey was very good and they did a good job. Lots of fun and laughs. We do miss holidays with my brother and family but life changes and they are in Florida .
On Friday, we went Black Friday shopping for a few hours at Bloomingdales. I was actually glad. It wasn’t too crowded and I was able to finish shopping for my DDIL, DS, DGS and the kids in CA. I like when DDIL tells me what they would like so I am getting something useful and desired. She wanted new UGG slippers and a warm up suit and both were deeply discounted & we chose another nice warm up suit for DS by Under Armour and a few outfits at Hannah Anderson for the kids all 40% off. So, it was successful! I also found lounge comfy warmup suit for my DD. I guess comfort is the name of the game this year! Lol
it sounds like you all had a lovely holiday. I’m grateful for all your friendships.
Sue, I’m with Pam ...whoever that rude person is having the nerve to send photos, etc. - just block them! Did you recognize anyone in the pics? I wonder if it was a case of someone dialing in the wrong number? I can’t imagine anyone doing that to you intentionally though some folks are flaky and forgetful. I’m also so sorry that your DH is under the weather. You really had no choice but to skip the wedding. Weddings are exhausting even when you feel great sometimes. I’m hoping the extra rest will help.
Ann and Pam, I am feeling the extra poundage today. Too much food overall but it was only a few days. We did have Brazilian food twice and it was so yummy and pizza at the California Pizza Kitchen when we were shopping Friday. Well, it’s done now. Funny story..the pizza menu said the pizza was 210 calories so we all had an individual good sized one. I kept thinking that could not possibly be true! Sure enough later I discovered that was per slice. Ha! One person was going to have a salad but others convinced her it was more calories than a whole pizza. Ha! NOT so! Live and learn. But I enjoyed it and took some home for DH and DS who were with the baby.
Wll, a short note grew. Guess I missed you all a bunch! Night night!
P.S. I highly recommend the movie on Netflix -The Irishman. It just came out and I can imagine it will have Oscars written all over it since Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci were all stellar in it. The aging techniques were amazing too and Martin Scorsese directed it. We all loved it.

Good morning and WB Judy. So happy that you had a great time and I bet that baby is so adorable Thanks for the thumbs up on the movie. Love all those actors. Nice that you scored some Black Friday deals without the crowd. We are also waiting for 'weather'. Should we get all the snow that they say, I'll simply call my surgeon's office to reschedule. We are having roast turkey today. Never did get our turkey fix leftovers LOL, so after today we'll have plenty. Wishing all a wonderful healthy and OP Sunday. Will CBL

Happy Sunday all!
Today is the first day of Advent and we also welcomed our parish priest back from a 4 month sabbatical. The priest who covered for him was very kind and friendly, but I prefer our own Fr. Brent.
Yesterday was a fun, but very tiring day. DH and I left home at 8:00AM, picked up DD1, Jude & Anna, then drove to BTR to pick up DD2 and on to Hammond for the Renn Fest. DD2 & Abby had never been and enjoyed it. The weather was sunny and mild, until mid-afternoon, when the temp got up to 80. We saw jugglers and acrobats, jousting and lots of people in funny costumes. Abby rode a pony, a barrel, a giant swing and a smaller swing and enjoyed the shows. We left at 3:00 PM to get us home and DD2 to her BFF's in NOLA in time for the LSU game. Abby was whining about wanting to stay longer and DD1 said, "I can tell you had a really good time and would like to come back again another day" and Abby said, "YES! How 'bout tomorrow?" I am so glad she enjoyed it.
DH cooked us hamburgers and tator tots for dinner while I took a shower. Other than yogurt for breakfast, I had only eaten about 3 oz. of grilled chicken, so I was really hungry. Besides tomato, pickle and onion on the burger, I ate the rest of the tomato and 3/4 of a large bell pepper. The game, a giant pay-back win after losing a 7 OT game last season, ended at 9:00 PM and DH went to bed. I gave up at 10:45 and slept like a log until the alarm went off at 6:30 AM.
Breakfast this morning was oatmeal with blueberries. Lunch will be the remainder of my chicken shawarma and hummus with some vegetable. Dinner will be leftover turkey, dressing and vegetables from Thanksgiving.
Today is sunny and a more reasonable 61, since a cool front passed through last night, so a walk is on my agenda. I will pick up Abby after lunch to spend a little time here and then take her to a children's program at church. It's about angel stories from the bible and they will make an angel ornament, which she will love.
Ann - I laughed at your post because we keep remembering stuff we have in the refrigerator that needs to be eaten. I am also a big fan of turkey, which is why I offered to cook a turkey breast to bring to family Thanksgiving. I was determined to have some leftovers to bring home. I knew my sister's family prefers dark meat, so with extra breast meat, I should be okay and it worked like a charm.
Judy - You and DH were wise to head home before the weather got bad. I am so glad you had a good time and am totally jealous that you have finished Christmas shopping.
Sue - How is your DH feeling today? Keep a close watch on that cough, as it could easily slip into bronchitis or pneumonia. I think you were wise not to go to the wedding, even though you had been looking forward to it. Who knows what he might have caught from others with his immunity already compromised.
I'll BBL.

Lol Pam. Good thing I was looking for my yogurt or I would not have seen the meat sauce.
It's already snowing and sticking to the ground. One of Carl's clients has to leave at 6:00 am, so Carl will snow blow him at 5:30. The others have no schedule so he's going to wait till it stops. Looks like I'll be cancelling my surgical appointment tomorrow. Oh well. I'm sure my doctor will understand.
I'm so enjoying a nice laid back day.

Hi all,
We are in the midst of a blizzard for the next day or two. The college has already notified us of a closure tomorrow so I’m doing my happy dance now! I spent today making our post Thanksgiving dinner for two. I cooked the oven stuffer chicken, squash, mashed potatoes and Cape Cod turnip which is sweet and delicious. Even if you hate turnip, you’d love this! I made an apple crisp since our dinner did not have pies in NJ but a cake instead. After we ate at midday, I cooked the chicken carcass to make a broth to start a chicken and barley vegetable soup. I added carrots, celery, parsley and onion. Should be good for the week and very similar to your flu soup, Pam. Thanks for sending that recipe.
My DDIL is supposed to defend her thesis tomorrow for the final step in her Ph.D. And she was worried about weather postponing it. It is such a hard juggling act getting her six team committee ready to sit for five hours while she defends it. Plus having a six month old and working part time makes it a true feat! Hopefully, by this time tomorrow she’ll be a Ph,D and officially a doctor! She’s earned it.
Ann, I’m glad you cancelled your doctor as there will be no going out tomorrow. I hope your meat sauce dinner was good. I didn’t know Carl did plowing. That will keep him busy for sure this week. What are you reading now? I need to get reading. I’ve been doing more knitting lately.
Pam, fun times for you and your family at the fair. I’m envious of your weather! Abby sounds so cute! I’m also glad your favorite parish priest is back.
Sue, how is your DH faring? I hope better. Are you buried in snow, too?
Have a great night. We’re going to watch the Patriots soon. Bye for now!
