This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ************************ Happy Thanksgiving.
The turkeys are on strike around here. They are marching with placards that say “Let them eat tofurkey.”
I am grateful for all of you and your support through life’s ups and downs. However you spend the day, I will be thinking of you.

Thanks, Chele! Happy Thanksgiving. Tucked in bed with dog and coffee and just turned in the Macy's Parade. Rain went east of us but a lot more is coming from Mar around supper time and all night. We head over to NE Mesa for dinner around noon. I just have to pack up the pies and cranberries.

Thanks for the Turkey Day start, Chele, and Happy Thanksgiving to All. I am thankful for all of ou to be in my life. No Tofurky here. That made me sick last Thanksgiving. So we have a nice Quorn Turk'y Roast I will be fixing soon.
Becky, I can relate to IT band pain. Mine were responsible for my having to stop running a little over 7 years ago. Let me know if you get any good exercises for yours and maybe I can use them as well, It's great that you like your PT. I guess she thought you were just another couch potato when she put you on that recumbent bike. LOL Interesting that she used acupressure. Not surprised you were sore after yesterday. What did you decide to do today?
Save travels, Linda, and I hope you get home before the rain arrives this evening. I know the pies will be a hit. They look yummy!
Liz, hope your trip goes well.
Enjoy watching DBIL slave in the kitchen, Kathy. When do you have football games this weekend?
Everyone seems to have a marathon of some sort today. We are switching between Lord of the Rings and Godfather. STARZ has an Outlander marathon, and AMC is showing Christmas movies. USA is showing Harry Potter movies. We have sunshine, but it's still in the 40s and isn't expected to get much warmer. Heard from DSIL this morning regarding Christmas options other than WM gift cards. Looks like the guys are getting Bass Pro Shops/Cabella's and the most of the gals are getting Hobby Lobby. One niece and her son live in a bit of a retail desert, so maybe Big Lots for them. DSIL is giving me no ideas for her, so perhaps Belk, since she has one close to her since they moved. Hope you all have an enjoyable day. I'm off to start cooking dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving Chicksters and thanks for the start Chele.
Linda I hope you enjoyed the dinner.
Karen It's strange that the IT band on both legs is affected so that in addition to tight hamstrings is contributing to the knee pain plus the lower back pain I have been having lately. The only 2 stretches the therapist gave me was one to do with a foam roller and a strap to stretch them out.I have been massaging it some myself today and at times it is less but the knees of course will hurt until other areas are loosened.I have a friend who has a meniscus tear and she found some stretches on YouTube so I will probably check that out as well.We ended up going to the buffet in Elgin. It's a one trip buffet and the food was good but not worth the price at all.We could have spent $3 more each and gone to the all you can eat buffet in Taylor but then we would both be stuffed and not looking around for dinner ideas.I think we are going to split a pork chop and heat up some Birdseye mashed cauliflower.I ate pretty healthy at the buffet.I had turkey, carrots, green beans, corn and 2 bites of pumpkin pie.It wasn't worth the points for a slice of it.Will you be watching the Longhorn game tomorrow? We will watch part of it depending what time we get home from HEB.We still need to buy groceries for the weekend. At least we don't need to buy meat so it won't be too expensive.None of the shows I like had marathons today so I watched the National Dog Show and part of the Cowboy game.Enjoy your dinner.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

no idea what IT band is. I do have two hamstring stretches should be doing using one of Bob's old ties around the ball of my foot. You can also prop your foot against a curb or baseboard to stretch calf.
Back home quite full just before dark. So Micki got fed and short walk , than a little fetch in the yard . the rain just began...only sprinkles now , but it was very heavy to the west earlier. We like to be off the road before the holiday drunks get out there...problem in Phoenix area in spite of some of the toughest laws. They drive the wrong way on freeways now and then.
Nice family gathering at brother's with two of his sons and their families. Someone brought a Brussel sprouts casserole and my brother and I looked at each other and said at same time ...remember mom's? the dog refused them.
The one year old is walking, a cutie. She was playing with a big stuffed bear that we gave her dad when he was young!

Chele, thanks for the start. I'm very grateful for the friendships here and the daily chats. I didn't have a chance to post before I left. I'm glad to say that there was no tofurkey at DS's house. Wow on the new picture! You're getting a lot of visitors. The group of ibis was back here today, but I haven't been seeing many smaller birds lately.
Linda, your pies looked beautiful. DBIL made sweet potato pies and they were really good.
Karen, how was the Quorn Turk'y Roast? UCF plays tomorrow night and the FSU-UF game is Saturday night. I have a free HBO weekend on Comcast, so I'll have to see what's on.
Becky, I'm glad you like your PT. How is the mashed cauliflower? I've seen it in the store, but haven't tried it yet.
Liz, hope your trip went well.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving weekend!
