Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

******* HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!************* Good morning. The popular question on Thanksgiving (and the days leading up to it) is, what are you most thankful for? With all of us ladies, there are of course many, many things that are important to our lives that we are thankful for, too numerous to count, but we can all agree that this board with all of our cyber BFF's have to be one of the most special things we are thankful for. I have learned so much from all of the great minds on here, and learned how to give back. I can't tell you how many times I have quoted one of you, to my DH or family member. How great is it to have such close friends, (even tho we have never met!!) in different parts of the country, and learn so many different customs? When it all shakes out, we are so very much different but alike. Thank you for being here all these days, and thank you for putting up with all of my quirkiness, I am truly thankful to have you all in my life.
We escaped the big snow storm that the towns up north got, some towns received 13" of heavy wet snow. Along with the high winds, as of this morning, there are still towns up north that do not have power. Sad, being Thanksgiving, with no power! We just had rain all day, with that darned wind, I kept watching my wreaths outside, as the red bows were just flapping away. I thought one of the bows was going to fly away. A quiet day today, with some kind of storm system coming in tomorrow.
Gareth, you were not a debbie downer the other day. And even if you were, this is the place to be it, as we can all relate to facing the possibility of having to put our fur baby to rest, so we can relate to what you are going thru. I hate to admit, but I actually like having Thanksgiving all to ourselves. The month of December is crazy busy in our family, so this day to ourselves helps us, to just be with each other. Enjoy your 2 days off!
Pinky, all of that work you had to do with the snow is one of the major reasons we sold the house. I do appreciate the fact that you must be way younger than me and my DH, so you are able to do all that work. We still, with living in this apartment were happy that all that snow stayed north of us. Just don't want to look at it now, till spring, some of us here are just not ready for that. As Marsha said we are way across the state of Wisco, so not close to Minneapolis. We are maybe 30 miles, as the crow flies away from Lake Michigan. Hope your Thanksgiving is a stress free day.
Marsha, just in case you are able to take the time, on Monday to go this far back in the threads, I hope you all had a great time with your close friends and family. Also, that DD made it home ok. Enjoy your time with her. Had to chuckle about your issue about brisket and cookies....sounds like something I would do! But I do not have a toaster oven!
Robin, thanks, on my DD. No, DB is not coming over. DH was not sure when he wanted dinner, what with hunting, (last night he decided he did not feel up to going hunting today, so he is home) so it is just DH and I. Lol, I got a kick out of you saying 7 is a small group. It is for you....I am looking at most likely a total of 11 here for christmas dinner, and to me that is a lot. Glad our living room is big, compared to the living room of the old house, so we can fit everyone. All of your plans for the weekend sounds like so much fun.
Carol, so sorry you had to deal with a migraine, right before the holiday. I guess that is better tho, than on the actual holiday, right? When will DDIL have the tests? I hope all goes good with those tests. I can remember all those thanksgiving's with my family, growing up, then once I got married, keeping the tradition going, as to going to my parents house. Such good times. We never went out to eat, as I think a lot of eateries around here are closed.
Anngie, lol, you are welcome!!!!! (About the rain) The only bad thing about the rain we got, was the ground is now frozen, so any larger amount to rain just sits there, and with the high winds, some areas around the bay got flooded. Just a mess. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!
DD came home from the hospital late yesterday morning. She has good pain meds for it, seeing as the doctor did it laparoscopic, with 4 tiny incisions, due to all the scar tissue she had around her belly button, from a previous C section.
Going to the Y in a little while, just to get that 2 miles in, then back here to get some pre dinner chores done.
Again Happy Thanksgiving, and have a super day today!!

Karen, you are so right, I feel like all the cyber friends I have are so special. It's just easy to connect to everyone all the time, which I often don't do with friends. Good thing you did not get that snow. We were supposed to get more rain yesterday, but only a few drops came, and any possible snow in the forecast has changed to rain.
I guess everyone knows that NY was supposed to get a lot of wind. We just happened to have gotten a few gusts, it is stronger now even than at night, but it did not stop them from flying the balloons in the Thanksgiving parade.
I am having a very late start this morning. DH has a new clock radio, it is an Alexa powered, and he has an eye mask that he wears that comes with wireless headphones as he sleep with the radio on. At 7 am something happened and the radio started playing and woke me up. I fell back to sleep until 9! I needed it I suppose. Of course I had more of those baby dreams. This time I had the baby dressed in too warm an outfit and I was out without diapers and wipes! I also had another dream where DH was telling me he was working on a client's will, but a name that was not a client, and no one I had ever heard of either.
Time for my second cup of coffee and some reading. I will make the corn pudding around 12:30, maybe 1:00. I think we will leave around 2:00 so we get there by 3, although I will bet today we will get there more quickly. People will be leaving the city this afternoon, not going to it, if our experience from last year means anything.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Karen, you expressed it so well how I feel too about all of you here. Thankful I met all of you! I have so much to be thankful for. My DH, DS and family, my health, my home and my job to name a few. I'm blessed too to have so many memories of past Thanksgivings and holidays with family that have now passed. Yesterday was so windy here too.
My morning started out with a walk like every other morning except I was able to sleep in later than usual. That was nice for a change. I was awake early but managed to fall back to sleep. After breakfast I got chicken and dressing in the crockpot along with some baby carrots. Then in memory of my oldest nephew I made the praline pumpkin cake he loved and requested every TG. I make the lightened version now that's every bit as good as the original. While the cake was in the oven I made cranberry sauce. I'm done cooking now for the day except to make a green vegetable that DH needs every day with his warfarin. We'll eat about 5:00
Robin, I love corn pudding. I've got to make it soon. Trying to remember when you said the baby is due.
I'm listening to The Stranger Inside but not enjoying it all that much. I'll keep listening since I want to know how it ends.

Interesting Gareth that you should say that about your DH needing a green vegetable with the warfarin. I thought they were supposed to avoid green vegetables with warfarin. My mother took coumadin, which is the name brand version, and I had to make sure I did not only have green vegetables.
