Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. We had a dusting of snow overnight, was not predicted. A chilly 30 degrees right now. The big hype is the snow storm coming late tonight, bringing rain/freezing rain, then switching to snow Sunday. Have not heard an amount to it. Our anniversary is the 2nd, and the day we were married had everyone digging out of a blizzard, so I guess it is appropriate.
Robin, I had some of the Macy's parade on, then DH turned the channel, but we did see on the news about the one balloon knocking a worker down. Those were the high winds we had here, Tuesday and Wed. DD2 DH was sent looking for his grill cover, yesterday morning. Glad my DH had put our grill in the garage for the winter. My goodness, those are some vivid and strange dreams!!! I like how you can remember some of them. I usually can not remember. When is your DDIL due? How far away are they from you? I can tell you are going to be such a happy and helpful Grandma!!! Are you planning on taking some time off from work, when the baby comes, to help them? How was your Thanksgiving? Have a great day today.
Gareth, your menu sounded very good! I do not make the dressing with the bird anymore, got away from that, years ago. (I think I am just too lazy to do it) Did you get snow yesterday or during the night? I was surprised when I opened the blind and saw that, I am pretty sure it was not mentioned on the news last night. Do you have to worry about the snow this weekend? Looks like after it switches from rain to snow, we are predicted to get around 6", so that isn't so bad.
DD 2 is bed ridden right now, and her DH set her up with a TV in their bedroom so she could watch all the football games yesterday.
To do today: a trip to the Y, then a stop at the post office, then a stop at the store, DH needs more hand warmers. I bet he was happy when he left earlier to go hunting, to see the snow cover. Now it will be easier to see into the woods, and then if he hits a deer, easier to track the deer.
Have a nice day everyone.

Karen, we woke up this morning too to a dusting of snow but ours was predicted. Rain and breezy tomorrow but at least it's not snow. I feel so sorry for deer this time of the year. DH isn't a hunter. We'd have had a problem if he was.
Robin, they want DH eating a half cup of green veggies a day to keep his numbers where they should be.
Not as much as laundry today as usual for a change. That usually means though that it'll make up for it next laundry day. Our TG was nice yesterday. Our meal was good. Karen, I mound dressing on chicken breasts in the crockpot so I don't go through the work stuffing a whole chicken. Told DS that I'd ordered our Christmas gift yesterday, a Ninja grill/air fryer. He told me that's what he'd gotten me for Christmas. Whoops! Hate that I spoiled his surprise but I'm anxious to get it.

I have wasted enough time today online, both looking at Facebook and shopping, although I did wipe out my oven I self cleaned FINALLY last night. It seems I could not set both ovens at the same time, so the other one will be tonight. I am going to read, but am going into the city later.
Karen, my sons both live in Manhattan, on the Upper East Side, which is more convenient for us. It's less than 25 miles, I usually don't go in traffic, so takes maybe 45 minutes. They are planning to look at a 2 bedroom apartment in their building, I guess something is coming up in December. As you know, rents are very high in the city, and they would like to stay there for now. My mom had left each of the grands some money to use to buy a house, which they are not doing right now, and it will be in a trust, but I am going to look at how to invest it for them so I can give them some money each month to add towards their rent. I just thought about this yesterday, so will tell DS tonight probably.
I usually do not remember my dreams, but for some reason I have lately. Not last night though,

We had a nice Thanksgiving with DD, DSIL and DGS. DGS spent the night at our house while DD and DSIL stayed in a hotel. It was real easy. DGS goes to bed early and we didn't hear anything from him until he woke up this morning around 6:30. That's about the time DH gets up anyway. They have already gone back home. DS and DDIL are on their way here, but just texted there was an accident on the highway so they are delayed. I think DDIL goes to doctor next week. I'm not sure what tests they will do.
I make dressing in a separate dish. My mom never stuffed the turkey. I always wanted her to because that's what I would in pictures or on TV. I've always done that way, too. Everything else turned out fine. I just cooked a turkey breast and brined in Wednesday night. I think it wasn't so dry as usually is. I think I'm going to have to get a new oven. The oven temp is off, but not consistently. Also, the burners don't cool down like they are supposed to.
It has been cold and raining yesterday and today so we didn't get to take DGS to the park.
Does anyone do Black Friday shopping? I don't-just don't like the crowds.

Karen, your weather is definitely coming this way! It should arrive Sunday afternoon through sometime Monday. Funny, though, no one’s predicting how much snow - my thought is they don’t have a clue.
Gareth, great minds think alike - you and DS’s! Now you get to cancel your order!
Robin, that’s a good idea to invest their inheritance in such a way that there will be dividends to help offset their rent. A good friend of mine and I are taking a bus into the City tomorrow to shop, eat and enjoy what stores may have been decorated. I think it’s Macy’s that’s usually decorated by now. Always fun.
Carol, although my mom always stuffed the turkey, I have never done that. Mainly because there would never be enough of it! I make it the day before and the morning of it’s cooked in the microwave. It takes awhile but it’s delicious.
I’ve never done much Black Friday shopping but today I went to Kohl’s soon after they opened. It was a crazy place. I found a few things for my DGS’s and probably spent 40 minutes in line. All in all it wasn’t too bad.
