Good Morning, Chicksters. Headache Central today. The weather is warming up, the clouds are gathering and rain, it is a-coming. Iggy and DB went out to breakfast and are going to see their sick cousin in Cincinnati. I have a lot of downtime today, TG. Yesterday’s family gathering was nice. The 3 nieces are doing well, the Grands are fine, the in laws are well, the food was great, the conversation was humorous.
Linda, I am glad dinner with the family went well and you beat the rain home and even got in a Micki walk. It’s great the teddy bear has survived all these years. Good quality. Too funny about the DM’s Brussels sprouts.
Kathy, your DBIL made a feast, even homemade pie! I had to look up ibis. I couldn’t remember what they look like. The bird in the new picture is the downy woodpecker. He has gotten over his wariness of the feeders. The food contains bark butter bits which are small pieces of suet and woodpeckers love them. Iggy said he saw several pairs of chickadees in the yard, so they must be spreading the word about the free food.
Becky, I was laughing at your PT’s comment that it wasn’t a race. It just shows how fit you are that you can go so fast with bum knees. I found some hand exercises online, i can do for my carpal tunnel. Amazing what you can find but sometimes having someone watching and letting you know you are doing it right is a good thing. Your buffet dinner sounded delicious.
Karen, thanks for the start. I never liked the idea of tofurkey. How was the Qu’orn roast? I did my Black Friday shopping online. Wed with Old Navy and yesterday morning with Sur la Table. Free shipping from both and 50% off and 40% off respectively. Have you started on Dale’s list? What is Sweet Potato getting for Christmas? A nice Go Blue scarf perhaps?
Liz, I hope your hips and knees didn’t bother you too much on the trip. Are the pups behaving themselves? Don’t work too hard today.
Have a good Friday, all.

Hope you can stave off the headache.
We have a similar pair of woodpeckers who go to the hummingbird feeder. It us a restricted opening type to keep out bees, but their beaks are long enough!
Wild night for rain and storm woke me at 4:30 when there was tornado watch night of us, now one south of us...no , not normal. Micki got a short walk on a break around 7 and it is raining again. We are tucked into bed with coffee.

Enjoy your "unstructured day", as a friend of mine would call it, Chele. Sorry about the headachy weather. I was thinking there were only 2 nieces. Is the 3rd one the youngest and still at home? Glad you had a fun and yummy time yesterday. No scarf for Sweet Potato, but she may get a new plush squeaky toy and a more challenging toy that I can hide treats in because she has her current toys honed that it takes her about 5 minutes to extricate 15 treats and a biscuit. She already has a very nice burnt orange sweater with a longhorn on it. The woodpecker is adorable. Sounds like word of beak is getting around.
Linda, IT band is short for iliotibial band, which is a ligament that runs on the outside of your thigh, starting at the pelvis, to your shin, so it goes right by the knee, which is why some of us get knee problems from it. IT bands aren't particularly flexible, which is part of the problem. When it gets inflamed, like Becky's apparently has, it can hurt like the dickens and take a long time to get resolved. The bout that halted my running "career" started in a February and I finally succumbed to a cortisone shot in October as a last resort. I hope Becky's will resolve a lot more quickly. I'm happy you beat the rain and even had time for a Micki walk. Tornado watches this morning?? YIKES!! Sounds like a good day to stay in bed. That is so amazing that the little girl was playing with a family heirloom. They don't make 'em like that any more.
No photo of the ibis (ibises? ibisi??), Kathy? That's a bird that I don't think we have on the lake. DBIL even made pies?? He is a man of many talents. Did you manage not to bring home leftovers, especially pie? The Quorn roast was good. I baked it with a Dijon mustard glaze. We have plenty of leftover everything, especially the macaroni casserole Dale requested. It's not vegan, so I won't eat much of it, but I'll have a little. Enjoy your free HBO. Since they couldn't make arrangements with Dish and we lost it, I haven't paid much attention to what shows and movies they have. Texas plays Texas Tech at Noon today, then Michigan and"oh how I hate Ohio State" at Noon tomorrow, which is the same time that Clemson plays, with Tennessee and Vandy at 4 tomorrow. Tennessee men are playing basketball in Tallahassee at 7 this evening on CBS Sports.
Becky, how are you feeling today? Are you sore? Did they give you a foam roller to use at home? When my IT bands start to talk to me, I start massaging it with "the stick" or the little handheld roller I have and can sometimes keep ahead of it.
Safe travels, Liz. Hope you did well on your shopping trip with DS.
Dale picked up a tick on his trail run Wednesday. Yes, we have had several frosts and freezes, so we aren't sure why this one was still on the surface. I don't like the look of it and suggested he go to the urgent care but, of course, he's ignoring my suggestion. We both did a little Black Friday shopping this morning and I ordered him a new pair of trail shoes and a couple pair of trail socks. I already have a few things for him that I got a couple of weeks ago. I need to find a little time to transplant an arrangement for GF so I can give it to her on Monday at the MG party. We are expecting rain on Sunday, so it will have to be today or tomorrow. Anybody besides Liz brave the crowds today?

Chele, hope the headache has let up. We're in that in between temperature range where it gets hot enough for the AC during the day and cool enough for the heat at night. It's supposed to cool off for real next week with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. I love seeing the visitors to your feeders. Glad you had a nice family gathering. Ours was also very nice. There were only six of us, so it was a bit smaller than usual. The NSB crowd stayed home and my aunt is up in NY with some of her kids.
Karen, thanks for the start. I didn't know what an IT band was either. That does sound very painful and I also hope that Becky's can be resolved quickly. I need to charge the batteries on my newer camera, so I took some shots with the old one. There were 10 ibis wandering around. They look so silly with those long beaks. They probably look taller than they are in the picture. They don't have real long legs, so wade close to the shore. It's one of those words where ibis or ibises can be used for the plural. I watched Big Little Lies last time I had free HBO, so I will probably watch the 2nd season or at least start it. Yikes on the tick! Hope the spot clears up quickly.
Linda, there were some large red-headed woodpeckers where I worked. They liked to get bugs out of the utility poles and were very loud.
Liz, hope you had a good trip and had fun shopping today.
Becky, how are the knees doing? I should've switched to Green yesterday, but forgot to do it. At least we had a lot of WW friendly foods (turkey breast, fairly plain mashed potatoes, and fresh green beans), so my total wasn't too bad.

Thanks for the start Karen.I love your avatar.
Chele I'm sorry about your headache but that weather sounds perfect for creating one for sure.I hope you are feeling better. It's been foggy and dreary all day but no accumulation.I'm glad you enjoyed the family gathering yesterday. It does help for someone to be right there guiding.I have been looking for calf stretches online as well and I have found a few.
Linda Wow on the tornado warning this time of year.
Karen I think this dreary weather is contributing to the pain but I think it's just too soon to tell any difference. No they didn't give me a foam roller. They have one that's more like it is actually made of foam but I'm using a softer long neck collar type thing which is the closest I have. She said a towel would work also.
Kathy It is really painful between that and the tight hamstrings.I have been liking green and I almost changed to blue yesterday because of the turkey and 0 point veggies but still didn't go over my points.I may try blue for next week to mix it up.I know I couldn't do purple because even on maintenance I would only get 20 points.Glad it's working so well for you.The knees are still painful but it is what it is.I have 2 appts next week so hopefully that will help some.

Becky, hope that works for you.
anybody go shopping?
not me!
We had our little turkey dinner tonight...seemed like a lot of cooking and cleaning up for 15 minutes of eating! But now I have lots of good leftovers and cooked turkey in the freezer...going to make sturdy paper plate tv dinners tomorrow to freeze in zip lock.Years ago I used to use the tv dinner containers to make our leftovers into freezer dinners for grandma.
