My daughter is arriving tonight !!! Can you tell I am excited? <hee hee> So, that is the good news. Bad news...friend with aortic aneurysm developed a cold that became pneumonia and is in hospital needing blood. I have a sore throat so will not go see her but do want to contact her by phone if I can. Good news...Moggy, the tortoiseshell cat is acting like a kitten and seems thrilled to be the only indoor cat. Who knew? Cherry: Soap making sounds intriguing. The guy who makes ours has a huge oil barrel sized pot he stirs over a wood fire and requires liters and liters of oil to make a batch that creates hundreds of bars. It lasts a long time with so much made. How much do you make each time? Your chili and cornbread sounds yummy! Beverly: I don't get to see my siblings often but when I do we have fun together. Cookies! I used to make many...not so much any more. 50 is cold but I bundle up. I tried the heater on in my room last night but coughed more with it on so turned it off. 51 this morning in the bedroom Lynn: How was the dinner? I like the idea of gift bags, too. My sister makes a HUGE production of wrapping even when things are going through the mail and she always gets comments from the post people when she does. Pam: Lucky you to have most of your family nearby! Enjoy them and hope Christmas will be special for all of you!

Snow is melting so working here at home today, then WW tomorrow and finishing up shopping and wrapping. Tree is decorated and the refrigerator has sliced turkey ready for leftovers. I'm making turkey carcass soup today. I'm smiling because everything is falling into place. Enjoy time with your daughter Cathy.

Good morning. My soapmaking process is infinitesimal compared to his. I have 2 molds that make 12 bars each. My process is different too. I don't cook the soap. I do what is called cold process. I mix the oils and lye water together with a stick blender until the mixture thickens some, then pour in the mold and keep slightly warm. The soap heats up in the mold until it "gels" which means it gets hot enough to turn translucent. Then I let it cool overnight in the mold and cut it into bars the next morning. Then I let them sit and "cure" until the moisture from the liquid evaporates and makes the bars harder and longer lasting. I usually cure them for about 4 weeks or more.
Our weather is still reasonably nice, meaning it want from highs of below zero to highs of around 25-30 above zero. We did have a bit of snow yesterday, but today it is clear and sunny. But by Saturday the temps are going down again. Christmas Day the high is about 12 and Monday 8.
I'm going to try to make some Christmas goodies today. Not too many, and nothing that can't be frozen. I'm also going to figure out what I'm going to have for Christmas dinner. Tomorrow I have a couple of appointments in town and I'll get groceries. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow.
Have a nice day, beaches.

Evening beaches, late posting today. Had a dr appt today, then stopped off at Sam's for a little shopping. All around, a pretty good day. Here, it was dark today at 4:30. Glad this is the shortest day of the year!!! I think I am ready fro Christmas. I have been wrapping gifts as I have brought them in, so everything is under the tree, only trouble is, I can't remember what I got everybody!!! Oh well, it will all be ok. Tomorrow, DGS is coming ( that always brings a smile to my face ). We will be taking the dog in to get groomed, & delivering a tray of cookies to my 91 yr old uncle, who lives alone. Hope everyone has a restful night.
