Good morning everyone.
This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone.
Last night I had the worst hypoglycemic reaction I have ever had. I was so sweaty my clothes were literally drenched when it was over. I had gotten into a bag of M&Ms after dinner and I know that is what did it to me (along with the white rice with dinner). I have to turn my eating around now. I can't keep doing this to my body. I am definitely joining the gym tomorrow. I want to go back to the YMCA because they have a pool and a track and it doesn't cost extra to go to any of the classes but I am considering Golds because it is so much cheaper. I just know I need to turn my health around now.
Got my hair cut after work yesterday. It looks cute (or I think so). Feeling kind of cute and sassy this morning. It was easy to style which is a plus for me.
Lora hoping that shoulder is feeling better!
Amanda I can't wait to see pictures of your new niece. 4 is a good age I think. I am sorry about the job rejection letters. Is there anyway you could reach out to the last recruiter and ask what you could improve on? Maybe more education, some interview advice? I don't know, I am so sorry that you are taking it personally. I know how hard it is. I don't know if you remember but every year for 10 years of the 13 years that I worked for the attorney I was doing a job search. I only ever got 2 of the jobs - both within the same field I already worked. One of those ended up being a nightmare and because the attorney didn't actually become a judge that time I called him and begged him to let me come back. LOL the 2nd one I ended up staying at for 3 years before finding my current job. The right job will be out there for you. I know it is hard but hang in there. You WILL eventually find something.
Susie I saw some of the snow flakes yesterday shortly after I got to work, then it turned into rain which is fine by me.
BBL - sorry work calls.

Hello friends,
I got out this morning and hit Aldi and WM for groceries. I also stopped at the liquor store and finally found the particular new bourbon style whiskey that I'd been wanting to get for DH to try. So that paired with 2 pairs of thermal socks, some new leather gloves and a couple of other small gifts should round out his Christmas gifts from me (unless I just happen to run across something that I think he can't live without..Haha). Among other things I picked up some beef shanks (like for osso buco) that I'll have to figure out what to do with. I'll probably braise them until tender and maybe sauté some mushrooms and make a pan gravy....IDK for sure though. Of course, did I buy mushrooms? Nope. So I might have to make a quick run tomorrow to my local mom & pop and hope they have some decent ones. If not, I'll have to figure something else I suppose.
Thankfully, DH was WFH today so was able to help me unload and get everything into the house. I was super careful not to lift anything heavy or anything above shoulder level, but I'm still feeling achy in my shoulder now that I've got everything put away, and the presents wrapped and under the tree. I might go change into something more comfy here in a few minutes and get the heating pad back on it.
Anyway, enough of my rambling. I hope everybody is having a good Thursday. I'll try to pop back later. I know I keep saying that and then the day just gets away from me.
Jana - oh girl! That hypoglycemic spell sounds horrible. I used to have them occasionally when I was in the trenches of my binge periods. Sugar and carbs, then more sugar & carbs and then a hard crash. I'm so glad that I haven't had one of those in a couple of years now. The nausea, racing heart and swimming head is terrifying and miserable.

Good Evening Jana, Lora and anyone else who happens to pop in....I went to the clubhouse gym this morning, then to Bible study, and then rushed home to get the house straightened up since the gal from the model home next door wanted to bring some prospective buyers to see one of the changes we made to the plan for our house. Well, after I vacuumed, etc. we got a message that they had cancelled...oh well, I got the house straightened up. We went to Carrabba's for lunch since we had a BOGO free coupon and ran into a couple from the neighborhood, so we joined them for lunch...that was nice. We made a stop at Costco and headed home.
Jana - Yikes...sorry about the hypoglycemic reaction....it sounds horrifying the way Lora described it. I am not sure I have ever had anything like that (I have become pretty stuffed and miserable though). On the other hand, yippee for the haircut... I made an appointment for one tomorrow.
Lora - the day always seems to "get away from me" too, and I don't get everything accomplished that I intend to. WOW, you are ahead of me though, in that you have presents wrapped and under the tree. DGS was sick for a couple of days, and we want to have him put the first ornament on the tree, so we are somewhat behind. Maybe tomorrow I can get some gifts wrapped... this weekend looks pretty busy.
Waving to everyone...

Hi Everyone, I had a doctor appointment this morning with my opthamalogist/ neurologist. It ended up taking longer than it should have taken. It was okay with me tho as it meant less time with the kids. We still have that boy who doesnt listen at all. The other kid that we were supposed to get with the parent who seemed nervous about me and asked me whether I took medicine apparently started today in another class. Feel sorry for them but glad for us. Lol!! Amanda, sorry things didnt work out for you with your job search. Glad tho that you are able to see your new niece with the technology and in person soon. Jana, sorry you went thru the hypoglycemic episode. Although unfortunate maybe this may be the jumpstart to getting back on track. Tommorow the kids leave early and we have an all staff bowling party. We really wont be able to leave there any early according to an email we got. Unless they are catering it or bringing their own food to the event the food wont be too great. The food at bowling alleys is not well known for great food. Robin Md,thanks for the info about hernias. Have a good rest of the night!

Good evening everyone.
It just seems like there isn't enough time in a day. you guys have decorations up and gifts wrapped, etc. We are piling stuff on the pool table and it is waiting to be wrapped. We do not have a tree up. We just don't have room for one. DH told me last night that it was silly but if and when we get a new house he wants room for a Christmas tree. I agreed with him.
I am crossing my fingers that it does not rain this weekend so we can work on the apartment and hopefully be close to getting that finished up. It is one more thing to mark off the list to do.
I was going to comment on something that someone said yesterday and now I can't remember what it was.
I will just finish up by saying i hope everyone has a great night.

Good evening, all. It's getting boring that I say the same thing over and over again but I am tired. Drove all over the place today, met with one of our state senators today to get funding for our syringe exchange program and he's a super nice guy, so approachable. We'll see if any money comes out of this. From there to the pot luck, then meeting with the staff of another senator. Got home and an hour later went out to dinner with DN, just couldn't face the kitchen, plus my cleaning lady was here today and it looks super tidy. I'm trying now to sort out my frequent flyer number with American Airlines - they're supposed to call me back so I don't have to wait on hold. I like the concept - we'll see if it happens.
Jana, my hair cut is coming up on Sunday. Glad yours is looking so cute. It's a definite mood lifter. Hope you get the apartment done this weekend so you don't have to make any more trips over there.
Susie, sounds like such a fun day today and so varied. I love the idea of going out to lunch and seeing people there you know and can have a meal with. What did you order at Carabbas?
Janet, would you say you're unhappy at work? When you say you didn't mind spending extra time at the doctor so you had less time with the kids, it made me wonder. I know that kind of work must be draining.
Lora, LOL about the mushrooms for dinner. Why do I always leave the supermarket without some critical item or items?
And now American called me back and said to press 1, which I did, but it didn't register no matter how many times I pressed it, so they hung up on me. Now I have to call again... I know, I know, 1st world problems...
Have a good evening all.

Good evening!
I got home from work and had to make the cake for the work party tomorrow. I think it turned out good. I don't cook as much as I used to and am not as confident in my skills. I used to be a really good cook, and still love to do it, but not just for me. I miss the days of having family around to cook for, and talk to in the kitchen. But the dogs were definitely right there, keeping me company!
Jana, I haven't got a tree, and I decided I'm just not going to worry about it this year. They are so expensive, and with me working every weekend until after New Year's, I just don't see the point. I won't be here to enjoy it and no one is coming over, so I am saving myself the trouble. I prefer to decorate early in the month and enjoy it for a long time, but that just didn't happen! I have also had those weird sugar crashes and it is a miserable feeling. I think we can both turn this around, and take care of ourselves, eat healthy, and get some exercise in to our days. Just do the best you can each day, and whatever positive things you do -whether eating heathy and/or getting in ANY time at the gym- is going to be helpful. Don't look forward too much, just look at "today", so it isn't as overwhelming. I always try to tell myself, I will just get on the treadmill for 10 minutes, its better than nothing at all...and of course, it turns into more, but even if it is only 10 minutes for that time, I have met that goal.
Susie, that is so sweet that you are waiting for DGS to hang the first ornament! And glad you got the house straightened up, even if you didn't really have to! HA!
Lora, that is great that you got your presents wrapped and ready. I bet your house is cozy and Christmas-y! Darn that shoulder still bothering you! That mushroom gravy sounds so good, and hearty. I hope you are able to find some. Well, I am going to put my feet up for a few minutes, and then get ready for bed. I will make a nice breakfast sandwich for tomorrow, and then we will all eat at the party, around 2pm. We close the office at noon tomorrow, so that will be good. I sure hope my cake is good. I hate making something that I am not happy with! I will be back tomorrow at some point. I hope everyone has a really nice Friday. Take care, RobinMD

Janet - How did things go at the opthalmologist/neurologist? Glad you got away from the kids for awhile.
Andi - I think you are challenging me for being so busy lately - lol! When you were talking about the moon, it reminded me that it was seemed extraordinarily light out last night, so I stuck my head out the back door and there was that big ol' beautiful moon. For lunch today I had chicken noodle soup (sans the noodles), salad, and prosciutto & cheese wrapped asparagus. I brought the asparagus home for dinner - yum. The soup was so different (I always think of Campbell's chicken noodle soup from the can)...this Italian soup had all kinds of veggies, big chunks of shredded chicken, and was spicy. I had 2 bowls; it was delicious. I would never have ordered it, but my friend said it was her favorite.
Sounds like the ROs are in haircut mode this week!
RobinMD - we have an artificial tree that we got 2 years ago when we moved into this house the end of November. It is smaller than trees we have had before (other than the 3 foot or less tree we had the year DH got home from the hospital after 4 months), and is a perfect fit for one of the doorways into the sun room. We tried to get one that I would be able to handle alone if necessary. Even though it is smaller, we can decorate all the way around it, so it works out really well for us.
I am off to bed...goodnight all
