Thanks for the start, Chele. Did you get caught up on the Masked Singer? Are you well rested now after your "unstructured day" yesterday? How was Iggy's trip to the state capital? Did he like his beef tips?
Kathy, thanks for the recommendation on the raspberry elegance cake at Publix. I'll have to look for that the next time I shop there because I haven't seen it at our store. I think I have the ice cream cupcake dilemma figured out. It looks like they are pretty easy to make at home, just a little time consuming. It looks like I could do a cookie base layer then ice cream, whipped topping, another layer of ice cream, then the top layer of whipped topping, then sprinkles or something on top. It will take a little time because each ice cream and whipped topping layer has to freeze solid before adding the next layer. I can use the same pans I use for making cheesecakes in the IP. This will also allow me to make dairy for Dale and non-dairy for me. Has your weather cleared up since yesterday? I think our snow has finally all melted.
Congrats on the loss, Becky. Green is definitely your color. Eating at Micky-D's once a month shouldn't cause much trouble. The TENS unit can help my IT band, but it depends upon what's causing the problem. Yesterday I could feel small knots in my right IT band and when that happens, the electrical stimulation of the TENS unit can resolve it for some reason in a way that heat or ice does not. Muscle tightness or leg cramps not so much.
Linda, I hope your weather is a bit better today than what you've been experiencing. What are your plans for the day? How do you serve your TJ's chocolate hummus? I probably need to get some fruit like strawberries, but I was also thinking animal crackers. I also got a container of buffalo style hummus and was surprised how much lower in fat it is than the regular craft hummus I get from Asheville. I haven't tried it but hope it will be tasty.
How did the week go, Liz? Has the flu ramped up there yet? How is the boss's bronchitis?
There was a segment on the a.m. news about how perfectly aligned holidays will be in 2020. Valentine's Day on Friday, Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday (Taco Tuesday), Independence Day is on Saturday, Halloween on Saturday, and Christmas on Friday, which means we will start 2021 with a 3-day weekend. Dale had an early dentist appointment and then will be going to the pool, so it will be afternoon before he gets home. We have another dreary day with off and on rain, so I'm not motivated to do much. I did do a load of laundry and plan to clean the shower, which wasn't draining well so Dale cleaned out the drain this morning. In the meantime, I'm watching a movie called, The Man Who Invented Christmas, about Charles Dickens' inspirations for writing A Christmas Carol. I'm not sure it's factual, but it's entertaining. And, I do love a good Victorian story.

So far the hummus has been on pita crackers or carrots. It is very thick.
raspberry elegance is a great name
Good morning...couple warm days before low 60s again with 30s early. Cold this morning before dawn because the heat turned on! Has to get below 68 for that. Do not want to let it get too cold because hear pumps go into AC defrost mode after they run a long time...not fun.
Last gel shot (3) this morning, then lunch with old colleagues retired then over to Phoenix German bakery with dh for their stollen.

Karen, I am all caught up with the Masked Singer and the Voice. Iggy didn’t say much about Columbus but he brought a bottle of wine home. He loved the beef tips. I have altered the recipe and he hasn’t even noticed. I cut the beef and oil in half, doubled the onions and quadrupled the mushrooms. I knew you would come up with a solution to the cupcake ice cream issue. Hope Dale’s dentist appointment went smoothly. I prefer the roaring 20s to the Victorian era. Linda, have fun at lunch and the bakery. I hope the last shot keeps you going for awhile. Iggy bought some lemons in the discount bin awhile back, squeezed them and made them into ice cubes. Very convenient. Becky, congrats on the loss. Adding in a few maintenance points during the holiday season is a bonus. Kathy, I forgot about Kwanzaa and Festivus this year. The raspberry elegance cake sounds divine. DLM makes a peppermint killer brownie that I have thus far been able to resist. No guarantees, though. Liz, how is it going? So sad about the Barnard student. Her parents must be devastated. I went to Walmart this morning. It wasn’t too bad at the time I went. We always get our shampoo, soap etc from there and it was time to stock up. The weather is warming back up so naturally my sinuses are unhappy. I had a few good days this week, though. The neighbors are getting new siding so it has been pound pound pound for a few days. I am glad I haven’t had a headache. I need to go water Iggy’s plants. Have a good one.

Karen, your cupcake recipe sounds good. If you get the raspberry cake, I found that it's best if you take it out of the fridge and let it sit out 20 or 30 minutes. We have a stationary front, so it's still drizzling out there. It's bringing air in from the south, so we won't be cooling off. Then we get another front this weekend and cool off into the 70s for one whole day. The Dickens story sounds good. I always liked that Doctor Who episode about Dickens.
Chele, DM makes brownies with the Ghirardelli dark chocolate mix. I have so far not been able to resist them, although I do pass on having ice cream on top. I finally got a picture of the mystery ducks in my pond. I'm pretty sure they are Hooded Mergansers and I've never seen them here before. The one in my avatar has his crest up and is swimming away from me. I'll put up one with the crest down and one of the female this weekend. They are fast! There was just one couple in there, but then another male showed up and the crests went up when they were chasing each other around and trying to impress the female. They are hilarious to watch. Hope the sinuses improve and that the pounding doesn't last too long.
Linda, good reminder on the need to replenish.
Liz, almost to the weekend! Hope the week wasn't too rough.
Becky, congrats on the loss! I'm down 5 lbs since starting purple, but I was up a bit this week. I slacked off some and it immediately showed up. I'll be happy if I can get through the holidays without a gain.

Kathy, I just googled Hooded Mergansers. That is a good picture you took. I have never heard of them but I don’t see a lot of ducks. You’re DM’s brownies sound dee-lish. Good work on the purple plan. It takes forever to come off and a few bites to come back.

Kathy, the website for our Publix store says that they need 24 hours notice for the raspberry elegance cake. So they may not have it as a regular item. Too bad, but it explains why I may not have seen it before. I've gotten their strawberry shortcake and it's good. I've also had the Ghiradelli brownies and they can be habit-forming. I think you have won the "name that duck" contest. Here's a link to Cornell's birds page about it. Merganser Ducks. I'm surprised you haven't seen them in summer, given how they are described here. Congrats on your loss. Purple is working for you. I need to re-read the booklet to see if I can figure something out. I'm not gaining but I'm not losing either. Congrats on getting caught up on your shows, Chele. Did you enjoy wine with dinner last night or save the bottle for later? Funny that he didn't notice your substitutions in the beef tips. Not a bad thing. Dale's appointment went ok and they are now keeping an eye on one of his fillings that is probably 50 years old. Use those resistance muscles on those brownies. They do sound good. Sorry about the pounding noise. We had the neighbor's chainsaw going this morning between rain drops. That was also a bit annoying. Glad you don't have a headache, but sorry about the sinuses. The Barnard student who was murdered was the niece of former Tennessee Vols football coach Johnny Majors, so it's making news around here. I'm glad they were able to make an arrest so quickly. How are Iggy's plants doing? The RE agent has 4 showings of the house this weekend--1 tomorrow, 2 on Sunday, and another on Monday. Hope someone will be in a buying mood. Make us an offer!

That brownie mix is waaaay too good!
Got my last gel shot and went to my once a month lunch bunch at Cornish Pasty....the sealed pastries miners brought for bunch with variety of fillings. Place is twice as big, incredibly loud and table was long bench style. food is still very good but no longer a place to chat at lunch. Got home to go with Bob and he was having upset stomach system day...so Micki got a walk and I added lights to another shrub.
Hope tomorrow's annual Dec lunch with three old colleagues goes well!

Thanks for the start Chele.
Karen Thanks.I do like green better than the other plans. That was my monthly WI but the loss was more like for 3 weeks.PT was more intense than usual today and they had it so warm in there I started feeling nauseous. We had already been to WM but didn't have time to make HEB before PT.I was really feeling bad then but we made it and I finally was able to eat something about 2:30.I don't feel ill but I don't normal either.Interesting about the holidays. The sun was out for part of the day but turned cloudy late afternoon.Tomorrow is supposed to get up to 77 and they are predicting a high of 84 for Sunday which would be another record breaker. Then sometime Monday another cold front.
Chele I'm glad WM wasn't crowded when you went.Ours wasn't crowded either.
Kathy Good for you and congrats on your loss on purple.I could never do purple.I'm not trying to lose any more.I just can't seem to get in all my maintenance points.
Waves to all.
