Iggy has left the building. He is on his way to Chicago. We had about an inch of snow. The sidewalks and streets were warm so it is melting but it looks pretty in the grass and trees. The birds have been chowing down so I had to refill the tube feeder so the first pair of perches had food available. I have been battling sinuses again and woke with a headache. Now that Iggy is off I can put my feet up.
Karen, Cactus Jack looks festive. Iggy will be back Wednesday afternoon. I have been reading about the Least Bittern and they cling to the reeds and blend right in. Fingers crossed that the house sells.
Kathy, I went to the Twitter site of Jocelyn Anderson. I watched her videos for quite awhile. How does she keep her hand so still? It was fascinating.
Linda, great gift exchange. Sometimes you win in the kitchen and sometimes you have a mess to clean up. Panettone is delicious.
Becky, I hope Scooter is behaving for you today. Did you tell her Santa only comes if she’s nice?
Liz, I hope you were able to recharge this weekend.
Going to open a can of minestrone for lunch. That’s all I have the energy for. Have a good Monday.

nice cactus...would not want to do it!
Good thing the finger cut isn't very big...awkward keeping it away from what I try to do with thumb and finger...good thing it isn't the middle one! Tetanus shot actually hurts worse.
sinus never goes away here...I think juniper pollen has begun, sort of same effect as ragweed.

Linda, having the middle finger bandaged would be a nice excuse! Happy you didn’t do more damage! Agree that tetanus shot is worse than a bad cut.

Karen, thanks for the start. Cactus Jack looks great! Chele, I love Jocelyn's Twitter posts and agree those videos are fascinating. She slows them down so you can see all the details. Someone asked her to post one in real time and it's a lot quicker, so I guess she doesn't have to hold her hand still for as long as it appears in the videos. She posted a lovely picture of a cardinal yesterday. My avatar is the female merganser. I thought she was appropriate for a Monday since she seems to be having a bad hair day! Hope your sinuses and headache improve. Mine have been a mess too with going back and forth between the heat and AC.
Linda, hope the finger heals quickly. I have a paper cut on my middle finger and even that is a pain!
Waving to all. Hope you have a good Monday.

Chele, that's a nice clear shot of Mr. Woodpecker.
Becky, you look great in your latest pic!

Kathy, love your female merganser and her crazy ‘do. I liked her latest video of the tufted titmouses/titmice. Yep, big boy woodpecker landed for a little longer than usual and I got a decent picture.

A BIG OUCH on the finger, Linda. I'm glad you didn't need stitches, but it still doesn't feel good. DM was notorious for putting sharp objects in soapy water and suffering the fate you did, but never had to seek medical assistance. I learned never to do that or to put my hands in soapy water that she had prepared. Yes, there would have been a benefit to having the 3rd digit bandaged instead of your ring finger. Enjoy your eat and critique art class. Cactus wasn't too difficult to relight. The rope lights were thicker than I thought they would be
Chele, sorry Iggy isn't going some place warm and sunny, but he won't be gone that long. How long will he be gone? I guess it's pretty amazing when you can get a chickadee or woodpecker shot, given that they don't hang around long. I actually nicked my right middle finger using my mushroom knife yesterday. Not much more than a paper cut, but it's a little sore.
Is Scooter still behaving badly, Becky? Did you have PT today? Is your pain level diminishing?
Kathy, is the female merganser the mate of the mail in your weekend photo? I think we set a record high today. I saw there was some wicked weather in the deep south and I hope it bypassed you.
How was your weekend and Monday, Liz? How much more PT do you have scheduled and how is that going?
I was kind of tired so after we got back from the bank, I tried to rest a little while Dale was at the pool. I rested a bit too long and had a bunch of stuff that had to be done before dinner, so I was scrambling. I'm also still a bit sore. I don't think I mentioned that I also harvested mushrooms yesterday. About 1.5 lbs of really nice ones and there are a few more that will be ready later in the week. We should be getting the contract on the house shortly and will get it turned around as quickly as we can. The RE guy said they will continue to show the house in the hope of getting a back up offer if this one falls through for some reason. Good plan! We finally started getting Game of Thrones discs from Netflix and are watching the huge Battle of Winterfell episode where a lot of characters meet their fate. Better go pay attention. Have a good evening!

Chele, I just watched the titmice video. Too cute! I love the shocked expression when they realize another bird is coming in.

Karen, what's with all the finger injuries on here, lol! Yes, the female was the mate of the male merganser. I think I got a couple of shots of them together, so I'll see if any will post well here. He didn't appreciate it when that other male showed up and quickly shooed him away. I saw on the Audubon site that they are winter residents in FL and are fairly uncommon. We had a beautiful day yesterday, but I think two fronts are headed our way. Hopefully, the severe weather will dissipate before they gets here. A SpaceX launch is supposed to go at 7:10 tonight. They said if it doesn't go, they may have trouble tomorrow due to the weather. Guess I better check the weather forecast. That's exciting news on the house! Hope it all goes smoothly.

Some cool bird pictures here!
Did not know that cactus would live in Tenn.
Went to Bank America to pay Visa bill...then I know it got there on time. Met at the door with sorry all the systems in AZ and on west coast are down! wow. Decided good idea to get some money from Chase and put more on my prepaid debit card from them. Best to stay ahead these days of failing computers.
It is a one inch slice across top of ring finger with one small part deeper. the rest looks like a paper cut but felt worse. I have a very large band aid wrapped all around and over the top-in a peak. the thing is not to bump it and get it bleeding again. Took forever to stop that even with steri strip. Too easy to bump. It just stings a bit unless I bother it. But I am pretty limited in doing things...it sticks out away from the rest and is a good thing it isn't the middle one!
Supposed to bring quiche for Wed pot luck Christmas party...nope...but I did find nice frozen individual ones at Trader Joes that I can bake and take.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele I hope your sinuses clear up and your headache is better. We don't know what got into Scooter the other night but she has been good since then.Unfortunately she already got her early Christmas present. She had lost her big Kong Toy I put her treats in at night so I bought her a new one.
Linda I hope your finger is doing better.Cedar is already high here especially with the wind.
Kathy Thanks for the compliment.
Karen Scooter only acted up the one night. She isn't usually that bad. With the drop in barometric pressure and a 40 degree drop in temperature my right leg has been has been hurting badly all day.I woke up like that. All my muscles in the right leg were tight when I went to PT.While I did the stretches she worked on the muscles.I was glad I didn't have to ride the bike there this morning.

Linda, certain cactii will grow in TN. I saw a huge Opuntia (prickly pear) over the weekend. I've been toying with getting one to grow here. Regarding your berries, here's something from Mother Earth News. Your berries are medicinal Myrtle Berries. I was going to suggest TJ's quiche. So much easier and taste pretty good. That's pretty odd on BofA's technical glitch. Technology is great when it works! Did SpaceX get launched, Kathy? I hope your weather doesn't take a turn for the worse. We're still waiting for the formal offer but the RE guy hasn't sent it yet. He did call to say he does have it, so that was comforting. Chele, what are you doing while the cat's away?

friend was just telling me prickly pear is good for anti-inflammatory. the fruit makes good jelly. Peoole actually buy nopales to cook...the “leaves.” But boy it has tiny sprigs of thorns that go in fast and are almost impossible to get out without high magnification! bit break off and remain. Parents had a lot if it...nasty to weed.
