Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. *************************************** Saturday Dec 21 National Short Girl Appreciation Day (under 5’5”). Very fitting day to celebrate since this is the beginning of winter and the shortest day of the year.
For you Doctor Who fans it is also International Dalek Remembrance Day.

Chele, thanks for the start. Cute avatar! I don't qualify for the Short Girl status, but my DM and aunts do. The Doctor never can seem to completely get rid of those pesky Daleks. It's 73 here and cloudy. Big rains are coming tomorrow and Monday, so we're heading out today.
Waving to all. Hope you have a great Saturday.

You can keep your rain, ladies. We have partly sunny skies today and 41°. We’ll take it on the first day of winter.
Iggy’s back is still hurting. We are hoping he can get in to see the chiropractor on Monday. I am playing chef’s assistant today, chopping and bending to get pots and pans. Then the executive chef will swoop in, throw in some herbs and spices and take all the credit. We are making kofta (a carnivorous treat for the wounded one), cooked green beans with onion, and the dreaded pineapple mango chutney.
Since Iggy is mostly stationary he has taken over bird watching duty. He is not very good. He missed the female cardinal in the yard and the red bellied woodpecker bullying the finches. I could see them from the kitchen. I gave up and turned on the TV so he can watch football.
Have a great Saturday everyone and good luck at the store, Kathy.

Thanks for the festive start, Chele. I saw on the a.m. news that one of the local craft breweries has a Festivus celebration going on today. I also qualify for celebrating today at 5'4". I think I mentioned that DM was 5'7" at one point in her life thought she was too tall. So she said she willed me to be shorter. I actually would have loved to hae been 5'8" or 5'9", as I think that is a perfect height. Is Iggy's problem muscular? I hope he can get fast relief. Is he using heat or any ointments? Enjoy being executive assistant to the executive chef. He'll get better at bird watching as he gains more experience.
Kathy, why is today International Dalek Remembrance Day? I was kind of wondering about how we were memorializing Daleks, since they showed up as recently as last season. I haven't heard, "EXTERMINATE" in the trailer for the New Year's show, but you just never know. How was the grocery store today? Good plan to go today if the rains are coming.
I hope you warm up quickly, Linda. Is this typically your rainy season or is all the precipitation you have been having out of the ordinary? Enjoy having no plans. The cake for Tuesday sounds wonderful and, as someone said, you didn't have to make it.
I bit the bullet today and ordered a new fitness tracker. It feels like the current one has created a deep bruise that isn't getting any better. I know I'm not wearing it too tightly because I can slip 2 fingers between the band and my wrist. I will probably sell the VS4 on eBay so I can get a little $$ out of it. I cooked Arya's eggs this morning and finished the ice cream cakes. I'll have to put them in an avatar so you can see how they turned out. I want to start doing a weekly outside hike again, which will give me 6 cardio sessions a week. I plan to start later this afternoon (since it's still only 42 degrees) and will alter my route to miss that 17+% hill that kills my knees. Every other week I want to go to a trail instead of the neighborhood. Will be weather permitting this time of year, of course.
Waving to Liz and Becky!

Karen, here is the link to International Dalek Remembrance Day. They were introduced to the series on December, 21, 1963. Int’l Dalek Remembrance Day
I have also dreamed of being 5’8” or 9”. My two BFFs in HS were around 5’8”.

Thanks for the link, Chele. I haven't seen any of the really old Doctor Who episodes. Nice Dalek history lesson. I had a few tall friends in HS and college. Being short in college actually helped with playing catcher in softball because I didn't have to squat down so far behind the plate.
It warmed up to 44 degrees so I dressed accordingly and headed out on the road. I ended up doing 1.64 miles and did some hills but avoided the really steep ones. Right knee is a little cranky right now, but I hope the TENS unit is helping. Felt good to be outside, but I did seem to have a lot of traffic for some reason. So I got a little more off-roading than I had anticipated.

Thanks for the start Chele.I definitely fit in the short girls category at 5'3".
Linda and Kathy I wish we were getting rain. It's supposed to be down in the upper 30's in the morning since the sun finally came out this afternoon after getting very little rain yesterday.
Chele I'm sorry Iggy's back is hurting.LOL on him not being a very good bird watcher.
Karen I always wished I was taller too. What fitness tracker did you decide on?I didn't get a bruise from the VS4 but it irritated my skin and sometimes I had to take it off.Enjoy your weekly hikes.
We went to Walmart this morning and we had never seen it so crazy busy.

I started out tall, was always center of back row in group school pictures, was just under 5’8” in grade 7 most height in legs at 99 pounds and have heard every nasty skinny joke there was. My sleeves and pants were always too short and the mini skirts were a nightmare.
I had a spiral fracture of my shin summer after grade nine and sat until Nov. Weight began to add on and kept going in college where I hit 200 and it took time to sink in that I really was fat. I have been losing and gaining back down to 160 ever since. Only somewhere I have lost an inch! drat.
Bob is convinced that the huge chocolate Costco cake with mousse filling which has sell by of Monday ( not use by)will not be good Tuesday...so Iwent and ordered a Baskin and Robbins noel log cake...boy, no place to park today! My family will surely have enough dessert.
Then used a great coupon to get more art paint for Jan, dropped stuff at Good Will, walked dog and played with a puzzle I got early for Christmas. Exchanged gifts with neighbor...a ball of post-its and a cool quoted mat that curves to go under a bowl in the microwave so you can take it out easily. Would be good gifts for the talented amoung us to make, not sure how the curve happens.

Becky, I'm so sorry you are still in major need of rain, given that even Linda is even getting some in the desert. I ended up ordering the Vivomove 3S, which is the smallest round watch face model Garmin makes at only 39mm. I can also change bands, and ordered a metal band for it. You know how I regretted having to give up being able to change bands when I switched from the Alta to the VS4. So, problem solved, I hope. Did you get an actual rash from the VS4? It amazes me that most of the device, except for the last few inches of the band on each side, is very hard. It will be less painful when the watch face is sitting on the fleshy part of my arm and the soft band is over the bony section. You really do have a tiny wrist! When I'm at my ideal weight, mine is 5.5 inches but right now it's over 6. You were very brave to go to WM the Saturday before Christmas. Not surprised it was nuts. What do you and Kenneth have planned for Christmas?
How is Iggy's back today, Chele? I hope his executive chef duties didn't increase the pain. Did you get everything cooked that you had planned? Do you have another day of nice weather?
Linda, I'll bet the cake will be fine left in the original packaging. What about putting it in the fridge, given the mousse filling? They always err on the side of caution with those dates most of the time. They will appreciate the BR cake as well, however. I looked at those before I decided to make my own. I can relate to the lost inch, or inch and a half in my case. When I graduated HS I was 5'6" and weighed 125. Then came "the freshman 15" and being on my own in the work world where takeout was easier than cooking. I've gotten back into the 150s a couple of times since, but haven't had a lot of luck getting back there after menopause set in. Still a goal, however. Congrats on the good deal on paint. I actually crochet those things that go under bowls to get them out of the microwave easily and have gotten lots of comments on how helpful they are. You'll enjoy yours.
How was Publix yesterday, Kathy? I hope it was a bit saner than WM was for Becky. How much wrapping/bagging do you have left to do? What are your holiday plans?
Liz, how has your weekend gone so far? What is your work schedule for the week? Will you be going to DS's on Wednesday or wait til the weekend, with the holiday being mid-week? Do you have plans to see SM as well?
We have another cloudy, cool day here and we should be getting rain by mid afternoon. At least it's not snow. I have the Christmas lights on so that brightens things some. I'll be doing a load of workout clothes shortly, but nothing much more planned. We DVR'd the App State bowl game, so I guess we'll watch that. When we turned it off early in the 2nd quarter, App was down 14-3, so I hope they came back. They hired a new head coach, having lost the previous coach to Missouri, so I hope the new guy figured out something at halftime and they came back to win.

Becky, wish I could send some of this rain your way. I'm not surprised that WM was crazy since the ones near here are pretty crowded on a normal day. We went to the Publix near the university and it was quiet and we even got a parking space near the front. A lot of the students have gone home for the holidays, so it was quieter than normal.
Karen, looks like Chele answered your question on the Daleks. They always find a way to bring them back. The university Publix was nice and quiet. I'm so glad we went yesterday since it's nasty out there today. We're having Christmas Eve dinner at DM's and Christmas dinner at DS's. I'm not even close to being done with wrapping/bagging, so I better get back to it. I'm bringing whatever I have done over to DM's tomorrow and will bring the rest on Christmas Eve.
Linda, we're about the same height, but I was never that skinny. I actually lost some weight in college, probably due to all the walking we did. I gained a lot of weight once I started working and then lost it and kept it off until my 40s. It crept back on and it's been a battle ever since.
Chele, how is Iggy doing today? Has he been fired from bird watching duties? Thanks for the Dalek explanation. I knew they appeared in the first year of the series, but didn't know there was a special day for them. The Brits take their Doctor Who seriously. I do like my height at just under 5'8". It's not too tall or short. My 2 BFFs are also about the same height.
Liz, how are you doing this weekend? Are you traveling for Christmas or staying home?

Karen Most of TX is in moderate to severe drought.I am glad you will be able to change bands on your new Garmin.Did you order it from their website?I can change bands with the Versa 2 but so far I haven't found a different one I would rather have.I didn't get a rash but my skin would itch when I wore it several times. The VS4 did have a rather hard band I thought.I guess we will stay at home on Christmas Day.We went to visit friends this afternoon. He is the one who helps out Kenneth with the cattle sometimes and pays for our meal when he knows we will be at the cattle auction. We stayed about an hour while he was doing his at home dialysis treatment. When we were about to leave they gave us 2 Walmart gift cards. It was totally unexpected and we didn't have anything to give them but I know he didn't expect anything. We need to go to HEB tomorrow to buy enough groceries to last through Christmas Day and I have a 11:00 PT appointment.I know HEB will be a zoo so depending on how my knee feels in the morning I may cancel the appointment and then go on Friday.I probably need to go to my appt but I don't want to spend all day at HEB either.
Kathy Enjoy your cool rainy weather.I wish you could send some here too.Our low this morning was 30 and we should be in the 30's in the morning also but it will start warming up during the days this week.
Linda I will gladly take some of your rain also.Your puzzle sounds cute.
