Good morning,
This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Hello friends & happy Sunday.
Not much news from hear...the rain started late yesterday & it certainly coming down now. We did end up getting out yesterday for a quick run to Home Depot. I needed laundry detergent and a couple of other cleaning supplies (didn't realize I was almost out), and we picked up a gift card for DMIL & DFIL for Christmas. Since they're living exclusively on their SS now (I won't go into how they could possibly blow through both of their retirement funds in just a few years), we thought a Visa gift card would be the best gift. Something that they can use anywhere or spend on whatever they please. Thankfully the Home Depot was basically deserted. Can't say the same for the WM next store, so happy that we were able to get everything at the HD and not have to venture into the mix with all of the last minute holiday shoppers.
Andi - sending wishes for safe travels and a wonderful time with family in the tropics. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
Susie - what an interesting story about your friend. How was the Hanukkah party? And what did you take?
Janet - I'm glad you were able to find a 2nd opinion and are getting the brake work done. That's certainly nothing to play around with.
RobinMD - OH girl! I hate to hear that you wrenched your back. I hope it's not too serious and many just a light strain. I know the worst back pain I think I've ever had came from leaning over and turning the shower on. It was just like the muscles seized up on me and I could barely straighten up. Sending lots of prayers and healthy mojo for a quick and final resolution to this for you. Take care.
Jana - How was your family celebration yesterday? I hope everything went as planned and that you all enjoyed your time together.
Waving to everyone I'm missing.

Hi Everyone, Robin Md, I hope that your back feels better soon. Lora, glad that you got what you needed without having to deal with going to Walmart. Today the usual stuff, nothing exciting. Andi, I hope your trip will be smooth. Are you going to a hotel near the airport beforehand? I just have a little bit left of the book that I requested but dont have a new book from the library yet. I have one that I requested but still havent gotten it and there werent that many people before me so I dont know why its taking so long. It is about a grandmother who hikes the Appalachian trail by herself. That's about it for now. bbl.

Happy Sunday, Lora, I have known a lot of people who have had the same experience....you just bend over to do the simplest thing, and everything just locks up. I think that is what I'm most afraid of right now, so I am being very careful with every move. It actually feels pretty good this morning. It is sore, like I got punched, but not tight or nearly as uncomfortable as it was yesterday. I am continuing treatment and anti-inflammatories, and just being careful. I did some stretching last night that felt really good. I might try my inversion table today, and just go far enough to do a gentle stretch of my whole spine. The only problem is that it is in the garage, and it is really cold out there right now! Ha! The gift cards sound like a great idea. They are a good idea for yourself, if you get them on a Black Friday, or another super sale, sometimes you can buy them for up to 3% off, then use them after Christmas to spend on things, and it is like some free money! And, just sayin', I hate going to WM on these big shopping days! Gah! Andi, safe travels today! I'm very envious Sorry you are having knee issues...some days I really get aggravated with the onslaught of little things (sometimes bigger things) that interfere with what I want, or need, to do. Susie, I can't remember when you said the celebration was, but it sounds like fun! Andi and Janet gave some good ideas. It is always nice to bring a little something, isn't it? Janet, you must be a really fast reader! Some books, I can really speed through if it captures me. I just love a good book! Well, I am going to get off of here. I need to get ready to make a quick trip to the store for a couple of things. The butcher has bones for my dogs, too. He gives me a good price, when he can. I like to go when he is there. Then I want to stop at a gift shop that is next to, and run by, the family that has the farm stand here in town. I hope to find a tin or basket to for the doctor I work with, because I got her a nice collection of teas, and I want to find something to put them in. She just bought her dream house and moved in this month, so it would be a housewarming gift, too. I'm waving to all...I'll bbl, RobinMD

Hello Everyone...the party was lovely...I did learn a little more...evidently it was not her DM who came to the US, but either her GM or GGM. I think all of the other family members were killed in the holocaust. I think her DM was raised Catholic, (as my DF and her DS were) and a cousin or someone discovered the Jewish history. I ended up just taking a small gift for my DF ...she is GF (celiac disease) so I took a couple little things from a local bakery. I stayed in bed awhile this morning...downloaded an audio book that I have been trying to finish by reading, but it was due yesterday, so I think the easiest thing for me to do is just listen to the rest of it. I have not gotten dressed all day - yippee for me. I got the tree decorated finally, and got the table set for the Christmas Eve meal on Tuesday. It is small- just DS, DDIL, DGS, and YDD since ODD and her family have that meal with her in-laws. Lora - The gift card is a perfect idea for your in-laws. I may end up getting DD and DSIL gift cards... I just have no idea. I have to go to a Baking Supply Center tomorrow to get some oils for making the hard tack candy that we always make, so maybe I will find something there to get for her? Janet - that book sounds really interesting. RobinMD - oh dear, I hope you are OK. I think everyone has experienced something awful with their back, but the older we get, the scarier it is! I swear, I feel like I have aged much more in the last year or two and I am really trying to fight it (evidently not hard enough - ha). OK... I "may" make myself run to the grocery store that is only a couple blocks away... or then again, I may just make the dessert for Christmas Eve.

Hi again, Got to the gym this morning and did my usual shopping for my friend and myself. I bought some salmon, asparagus and some potato pancakes( latkes) for dinner. Lit my candles for Hanukah. Just so I make sure I am singing the prayers correctly I looked it up. They used to put the prayers on the candle boxes but I haven't seen them anymore. I am going to finish the rest of the book tonite. There isn't much left so I am pretty sure I will finish it. Since the weather tommorow around here will be dry I want to get over to the library after work. Besides looking for a new book until the other one comes in I wanted to check about something about my library account. They have two books listed as checked out for the interlibrary loan but I only have one book -the one I am about to finish. I tried checking online but I think because I got a new library card recently ( of course I found my card after getting a new one) it wasnt recognizing the new number and the previous one either so I couldn't get into that part of the system. Robin Md, glad that your back feels better than it was. Hope it continues to improve even more. Have a good rest of the night.
