Good morning,
This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone.
I think our rain is finally coming to an end. The wind gusts all day yesterday were crazy. We had the power blink a few times, but I though we'd gotten away unscathed, and then at 615p last evening we went dark. It was out for about 2 hours. I can surely say that when the power goes out here, and the sky is pouring rain, so there isn't any light from the stars or moon it is the darkest dark I've ever seen. Haha. We stepped out onto the covered portion of the patio and could not even make out each other.
Anyway, we got a text from DBIL last night saying that he'd decided to have everyone over for Christmas eve. I just rolled my eyes, IDK whether we're just hearing about it last minute, or if he really just made a last minute decision to get people together. Anyway, he wants me to bring an appetizer and a side dish. He said they're serving Prime Rib. That's my ExDSILs specialty, so I hope that means she's making it and will be there. Both of they're boys are supposed to be in town, so hopefully she will. The biggest problem is now I have to go to the store. I planned my previous shopping off of what had already been planned. So, now I need ingredients for whatever appetizer and side dish I take. Grrrrrrrrr! I intensely dislike holiday crowds.

Wow! I guess everybody else must be way busier than I am today. Haha!
DH and I made a quick run to Publix for Lily's Chocolate & skinny asparagus, Aldi for strawberries & extract, and WM for a few condiment and cleaning items. It actually wasn't too terrible, I think we were out and about before most of the other last minute folks even got up and moving.
We got some bad news this morning, one of Mark's good friends passed away last night following a cardiac event. He's not been well for a while, and just refused to make dietary changes to try to help himself (lots of sugar, processed foods and junk). It's hitting Mark pretty hard as Jay was just a few months older than he is. Anyway, Mark and a few of the other guys from their group are taking a little break from holiday stuff to get together this evening and raise a glass of Jay's favorite whiskey and remember him by sharing stories.
For tomorrow I'm taking some bacon wrapped asparagus bundles and a dessert of strawberries stuffed w/sweetened cream cheese filling flavored with almond extract and drizzled with dark chocolate. Also tomorrow I'll have to make the chili for Christmas day. So tomorrow will be pretty busy in the kitchen.
Oh well, I hope everybody is having a good day.

Hi Lora...got up and to the gym, then took a break for a massage, met DH for lunch, a not so quick stop at the grocery store, then back home and cooking, prepping, etc....just sat down about 5 minutes ago. Next have to get ready for a Richmond Pops Christmas Concert and from there to the airport to pick up YDD... I am beat.
The dishes you are taking sound divine! So sorry to hear about Mark's DF...the Dr told DH the best thing he can do is lose weight...so we will start weighing him again once a week now that he can stand on my WW scale using the walker and letting go for a couple seconds.
Off and running....

Good evening everyone.
I have been so busy over the weekend. Friday was the holiday party at work, then out with friends. Saturday we had our family Christmas and when all the family left (everyone except the littles, they spent the night) We had DFs over to watch Football. Sunday we took my Dad and the littles to breakfast and then went to DFs to watch more football. It was a fun weekend but I am exhausted. I went into work this morning but I was only there until around 11. I ran by the drug store where I had some pictures printed of my mom and then to TJ Maxx for some frames. I decided to give those to my dad for Christmas.
I would be perfectly happy to spend the next 2 days doing absolutely nothing but my Dad told me tonight he needs to go to Walmart tomorrow for his gum <eye roll> and wanted to know if I would help him find somewhere to get the oil changed in his car. I am hoping he will put it off until the weekend but I guess we will see.
Oh Lora sorry for the last minute get together. I hope you get to see DSIL and spend some time with her. So sorry to hear about Mark's DF.
Susie enjoy the concert.
I need to go back and read the posts from the weekend.

Hi Everyone, Jana, we were posting at the same time however I lost it. Ugh! Lora, sorry you lost your power. I hope that your x dsil comes too. Hopefully if she comes that will make the rest of the company bearable. I had a quiet day at work. We told out families that after Friday began their vacation from school. Technically if they read the calendar it was today for those who aren't extended care. I had the one difficult boy show up tho. He had been out on Friday. I didnt mention what happened on Thursday with him. He was being very uncooperative with my teaching assistant. We have a stool that is in front of the sink so that the kids can stand on to wash their hands. He was hitting her and not cleaning up. I believe that she was putting the box of toys on top of the cabinet and he was trying to climb up on the counter and he fell and hit his face on the stool. I didnt see the incident tho as I was with the rest of the kids and she was neat the sink. His mother and grandmom came to pick him up. This is the same child who ran out of the building a while back. I think putting his blanket and other toys there though may have contributed to it but I dont want to blame my partner as he doesnt follow the rules like the other children and has no regard for the other children as he hits and physically takes toys away from other children. So I was glad that he didnt come on Friday and didnt stay today. I straightened out the interlibrary loan with the library. I never knew whether the first book I requested went thru so requested it again. When I was there asking about it the second book was right there too so she cleared off my record. ok, falling asleep so going to say good night.

Hi everyone,
Today was jam-packed on the schedule, but it went smoothly. We were feeling like the day would never end, because she (the provider that I work with) and I have the next 2 days off. My back was no problem at all today. I am so relieved that this seems to be much less of an injury than I initially thought it could be. I am still going to be hyper-aware of how I move, and what I lift or do in the next few days. I feel like this is also a wake up call for me, to be more vigilant about my conditioning and strength exercises. I am going to make a plan to make more time in my day for a work out. And also get back to my daily stretching routine. I just haven't been as focused on making time for this.
Lora, it sounds like you have a great back-up plan, but how aggravating to have to make another trip to the store. But everything sounds amazing! I'm so sorry to hear about DH's friend passing. I think the raising of a glass, and remembering fond and happier memories, is a great way to honor someone.
Susie, glad you got a few minutes to sit down! Ha! Glad you got your time at the gym this morning. Is everyone coming to your house? You have probably already said, but I just couldn't remember. Janet, I can understand why sometimes you are grateful for a break from some of the kids. It must be intense sometimes! Tomorrow I am taking Duchess for her nail trim and shot. I plan on giving her a sedative about an hour before the appointment. I hate to do it, because I feel bad to see her all gorked out....but it is the only way for these things to be safely accomplished. My ODD found a sweater for her that says "Cute but Psycho". That about sums it up! After the vet, I am going to go pick up my brother and SIL's present, and a new toy for both of my grand-pups. Then I am officially done. I'll be back tomorrow. I hope everyone is having a great start to this Christmas week. I can't believe it is here already. The year has flown by. Waving to all, RobinMD
