This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. *************************************** Happy Christmas Eve. The Magi are closing in on the manger in our household. After Iggy goes to bed or before he wakes up, I will put the presents out. He has a bad habit of guessing what the presents are before he opens them.
Happy Grocery Shopping to Linda and Becky. May the Force be with you.
Becky, enjoy the day with Kenneth and the furry ones.
Linda, have fun at the family gathering. Be safe in the rain.
Liz, may the NJ Turnpike be merciful during your travels. Enjoy your 3 days off.
Kathy, enjoy your warm Christmas Eve with the family.
Karen, enjoy the sushi and the ice cream cake and the company of Dale and Arya.
It will be a warm Christmas here just like Liz, 53° today and 57° tomorrow and we may even see the sun. We have a snow free Christmas most years but it is usually in the 30s.
Have a very enjoyable Christmas Eve.

Thanks for the start, Chele. How are yours and Iggy's backs feeling today? How many days does he have off this week? Do you have to venture out today? I remember growing up we usually had at least some snow on the ground for Christmas, if we weren't snowed in. Good luck getting the presents out without lots of guessing going on.
Kathy, I didn't realize how heavily penalized UCF has been this season. Is that something new? Marshall definitely did not play their best game. Dale said they just went to FL to party and not to play football. Kind of looked like it. We'll probably watch Wake Forest on Friday and then at least the first part of the Clemson game on Saturday. Texas plays on New Year's Eve, Michigan on New Year's Day, and Tennessee doesn't play until January 2nd. There certainly are a lot of bowl games this year. Are you watching the Who-athon on BBCA? I saw something about a new animated special as well. I hope that won't be in lieu of the NYD one with real characters. Are you back to blue skies today? We are supposed to be in the 60s until next Monday. I hope you got all your wrapping done. The only data breach mentioned on the news was FB, so I'll have to do a little research. I agree that FB is not ideal for forums or many other things. I wish they would ban political ads but I do realize that is a revenue stream for them, even if the ads are false or misleading.
Safe travels and happy times, Liz.
Becky, good luck getting your checks and not getting trampled today while shopping. I don't think I've ever eaten eel or octopus but would be willing to try. One of our favorite things at the Japanese place is squid salad and I'll be octopus would be kind of similar in taste and texture to squid. I also don't understand why the baby has to be in foster care and hope the DNA tests come back soon so she can return to her family. She's only 3 weeks old so she probably hasn't bonded with her parents yet, but it's where she needs to be. Maybe the crazy person who kidnapped her is trying to convince the police that it really is her baby. Have you heard an update? Enjoy Meyers, if that's where you go for lunch. I hope it won't be too crazy.
Have an enjoyable time with the family today, Linda. I hope the mousse cake will be wonderful. I know the BR one will be. How was Sprouts? How did the punch turn out?
I have to stop at Dick's Sporting Goods this morning, which is across the street from AF, but still going to be crazy. After my workout, it should be time to go pick up sushi. Then it's home, away from all the last minute shoppers. Not the best photo of the ice cream cakes, so I may try to take another when we cut into them for dinner. I may stop back later. Happy Christmas Eve, Chicks!

Enjoy hour workout,Karen. I hope the line isn’t too long at Dick’s Sporting Goods and that there is plenty of sushi from which to choose. Iggy, as usual, saved his gift shopping until today. That is his tradition. I am doing a little meal prep but not all at once. My back is better as long as I don’t stand on the tile floor too long. Iggy’s back is still stiff but I think the spasming has stopped. He left around 10 am when the fog lifted and I won’t see him back here until at least 3 pm. He has to go back to work on Thursday.

Chele, thanks for the start. Your high is our low. It's 63 right now, so a little cooler than it was earlier this week. That's a short break for Iggy. Hope he has a successful shopping spree with lots of goodies for you.
Karen, I think the UCF penalties have been worse this year for some reason. FSU also had issues with them. I remember one year the Gators went to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans and were suffering from a "flu" during the game that was probably brought on by too much partying the night before. I haven't watched the Who-athon so far, but will have to check it out. I don't think the animated special will replace the NYD one. Yes, I'm finally done with my wrapping. I only had one package to finish today and only have a few to take to DM's today. I'm usually spending this day frantically wrapping everything, so this is early for me. I hope Dick's Sporting Goods wasn't too crazy today.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve!

Chele, did your 11th hour shopper get home by 3? Hope you didn't have to stand on the tile floor for too long. I have the same problem working in our kitchen. I had a good workout but I'm already feeling it. Going to be really sore tomorrow, I'm afraid. Didn't have to rush and the crowd was light, so I didn't have to wait for machines. Nice! We had fog here this morning, too, and I think a lot of people delayed getting started as a result. No line at Dick's--walked right up to pickup and was out of there in under a minute. Had time to stop at Hobby Lobby and they had Christmas stuff 66% off, so I got a couple of garlands for the gate next year for under $7. Not a huge crowd at the sushi place, but couldn't get as much spicy California roll as I would have liked. But I made up for it with spicy crab roll. Also got some California roll and Philadelphia roll, plus seaweed and sushi salads.
Congrats on getting the wrapping done, Kathy. Isn't it nice to have the time to shop and wrap at a more leisurely pace? Retirement is good! There were actually some FB people lamenting about how warm it was for Christmas. I wasn't one of them. Some people have't figured out how to develop Christmas spirit without cold temps and snow or ice. Hope you had an enjoyable get together at DM's. Were the NSB folks there? Marshall may have had the same "flu" that UF had a few years ago. In the 1st quarter, it was almost like they didn't know how to play with a wet football, and I know it rains in Huntington. Dick's was just about vacant when I was there. Traffic wasn't even that bad for around here. Post office, retail, and restaurants were about the only places that were open.
What did you have for lunch, Becky?

Thanks for the start Chele.Have a good Christmas Eve with Iggy.53 degrees isn't warm here.We got up to 71 after a low of 28.
Karen We don't have to pick up our checks. They are direct deposit. It was just different this month since the 4th Wed is on Christmas Day so they deposited them a day early.Walmart was the most crowded we have ever seen it and the first time they ever had every register open. The baby was supposed to have given back to her family last night.I don't know if that means the father of the baby or the grandparents. They have a senior plate where you get a smaller portion of meat and 1 side.I had smoked turkey breast and pinto beans. It was so good.Tonight we are having tacos and tomorrow night we will have leftover ham with a green bean casserole with tater tots that I found in the freezer section at Walmart.Kenneth loves green bean casserole.
Merry Christmas all.
