Thinking Mistake #5: Mind Reading
You're sure of what others are thinking, even in the absence of compelling data.
"People will think I am strange if I don't drink alcohol at the party."
"She'll think I'm rude if I don't try the brownies she baked."
Do you mind read? If you do how do you counter it?

I know I have mind read in the past but haven't done it lately. It usually ends up being about how I should eat because I think someone else expects me to.

I remember this especially when I started moving toward vegetarian/vegan eating. The Wednesday group was okay with shellfish/shrimp and even don't make fish often knowing they are not my favorite. The idea of no animal products is harder and they are not quite there in understanding. I have told them that having a salad or some vegetables is enough and see them understanding over time.

I find myself doing this when we are the only guests. I am uncomfortable refusing dishes they've prepared "just for you". When it's a large dinner party or brunch it's easier for me.
Depending on how many points I can use I usually put it on my plate, taste it, and then take the rest home to enjoy at another time.

My mind-reading is about other things than what I'm eating. Usually, thinking people will think I'm over-dressed. I like fashion, and my area is definitely casual all the time.
