This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning all. Lora, my ears must have been ringing when you mentioned yesterday that I usually post here and there when I'm away. I just haven't had much of a chance to get on my laptop here and I have never mastered posting from my phone. It's weird looking at my picture here from Norway when I'm now in the tropics - I probably should change that pic but it makes me feel serene to look at it so I'll leave it for now.
I haven't had a chance to catch up on everyone's posts, may have to do that when I get back home and have more time to read. I did read yesterday's thread though at least and saw that Lora is dealing with a problem shoulder and that RobinMD has a cold. Hope everyone feels better soon. While we're doing the "organ recital," I am having knee problems although my back has been pretty good here. My right knee feels just really stiff and walking downstairs is uncomfortable and getting off the floor is really challenging and painful. This came out of nowhere and I don't think I did anything to it, just more degenerative stuff but I'll check it out with my doc when I go for my tetanus shot and follow up appointment in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, I try not to get down on the floor too much, although with the littles, that is hard.
Am having a wonderful time here. The weather has been glorious, 82 during the day and 78 at night. We had only one brief shower when we arrived which was fine. I've done a lot of walking, visiting with the DGKs - DGS comes over every morning from 7-8 while his parents organize themselves, and he plays and talks up a storm and has a little breakfast here. Then I've been walking for miles on 7 Mile Beach with my DB and DSIL and various others. The rest of the day is hanging on the beach, swimming, reading, rinse and repeat. DSon and DD leave today and we leave tomorrow, so this is the end of the trip, always sad although at some point I want to get home. Just not yet.
Despite my best intentions and all the walking I know I've put on a few pounds here but I'll deal with that when I get home. Again.
Jana, hope the final steps of moving out of your parents' apartment goes well and you don't do anything more to irritate that ankle. It will be so nice to have that behind you - you've done an amazing job dealing with this on top of a fulltime job, family responsibilities, having your DF living with you, and of course grieving your DM. Sending hugs.
I'll check back here probably on Monday. I get home really late Sunday night (if the weather and travel gods are with me) so won't be able to do so before then. Have a great weekend all.

Hi Everyone, Andi, glad you are enjoying your trip. I have errands as usual this morning and later I am meeting my friends at the Indian Buffet if things still remain the same). My friend still says she feels lousy but still wanted to go. I told her she can postpone if she wanted to if she still wasnt feeling well. We had postponed it last week. We shall see. Tommorow night we are celebrating Hanukah even though it's really the end of the holiday essentially with I guess Monday the last day as it started Sunday night. Monday I took a day off so have plans to see a movie ( Little Women) and lunch out someplace in the area around where we see the movie. I got my lab work done yesterday morning. The doctor said she will call me when the results come back. I will see how that goes. The lab usually lets me know when results are available anyway. She ordered some tests that my other doctor never ordered such a hep c rest and hiv screening which I dont see why the hiv one was necessary. I can see maybe the hep c one but not the gov. Lora, sorry your shoulder is back to irritating you again just when it seemed to be improving. Robin Md sorry you are have a cold. Jana, glad that you are finished up with your father's apartment. Is he getting used to living there at your place? Have a great day!

Janet, since HIV is my field I can say that HIV tests are supposed to be routine now across the country. There are thousands of people who don't know they are infected so there have been lots of advocacy efforts to take the stigma out of the test and just test everyone in an effort to end the epidemic. I doubt whether they'll test you ever again unless you have some risk in the future. Every time I give blood they test me so it's becoming more and more common. In the old days we'd only test people who knew they were at-risk but it turns out we missed a lot of folks that way.
Am about to go sailing. Heaven! All the kids have now left and only my DSister's DDs and a boyfriend remain of the middle generation. It's a LOT quieter here now as you may imagine.
Sitting out on my deck now looking at the beach, palm trees and turquoise water and it is beautiful. Sending you all warm thoughts from Cayman.

I didnt end up going out for our Indian lunch. My friend is still not feeling well. I wish she would consider going to a doctor or even to one of those urgent care centers or mini-clinics. Although I am not a doctor or anything her symptoms sound like a sinus infection although she says she doesn't have a fever but she has swelling under her eyes and her teeth hurt which I have heard that it can affect the teeth.I even offered to come get her, take her there and home again.I can only do so much, right? So I did a bunch of running around getting gift cards for everyone except my nephew's who I am just giving cash. I decided I needed a new bra when I was at Kohl's. The strap on one is about to tear apart. I think it got caught in the dryer and got messed up. It was pretty stretched out anywat. The new one I will be hand washing and letting it air dry. The rest of the afternoon and evening just relaxing and reading and hanging with Cassie girl.

Hello, everyone, Andi, so good to hear from you! I imagine it would be really hard to leave there, although I agree, I do enjoy returning home... I'm glad it has been such a nice visit with your family and friends. My DDs are going to the Dominican Republic in March, with their father paying all expenses except for air fair. Who could turn that down? I forbid them to drink anything from the minibar!! HA! Janet, I guess it is good for your friend to cancel so she won't spread her germs to you. It does sound like she has a sinus infection, and that can become serious, and extremely painful. I hope she won't turn down help, for too long. I had a pretty quiet day at the station, for which I am grateful. My back was no problem at all, but my cold was still bugging me. I did feel better when I got up this morning, even though I slept like crap last night. Go figure. I ate my soup, and took my decongestants and inhaler, so I was fine. I even got a few minutes of shut-eye! I took my own box of Kleenex and washed my hands a lot, and tried to really contain my germ footprint Now I am home, enjoying a glass of Moscato, the dogs have been fed and are happily resting here, and I will get a good night's sleep and a little sleeping in, in the morning! The weather was absolutely beautiful today, and should be warm but chances of showers tomorrow. I will be back, and I hope everyone is having a really nice weekend. RobinMD

Nope, she didnt take my offer to take her. She feels if she goes to the doctor they will just send her home without helping her. I said so what are you going to do to get better because what she is doing isnt improving how she is feeling. She says she will go to walk in at her doctor on Monday but I really think she won't. I am her friend but can only do so much if she doesnt want to help herself. Tommorow I am planning to go to the gym in the morning, food shopping and then to dinner with my sisters and nephews and one of my nephew's girlfriend at my sister's place. Have a good night!
