Thinking Mistake #7: Unhelpful Rules
You mandate actions without taking circumstances into consideration.
"I can't waste food"
"I can't inconvenience my family by cooking healthier meals or getting the junk food out of the house."
Do you have any rules for yourself that may be holding you back?

One of my unhelpful rules is I have a need to eat things up instead of throwing them out. I know Beck does a day on this but lately I've been doing this. Also "this little bit won't hurt" creeps in too. Need to make a goal of not doing this.

bbbearsmom , I think during the holiday season it's so easy to fall into the "this little bit wont hurt" but it all adds up, doesn't it? I've gained since Thanksgiving, but it's not by accident, it's because I let my giving in muscle exercise it's Olympic Gold Medal strength. Which tells me I have ALOT of work to do in 2020 to strengthen my Resistance Muscle!

Unhelpful Rules:
Thought about this one...perhaps there is a subliminal one when with friends: It is my day to have fun -> I will eat and be merry -> it is only one day a week -> vegan can be vegetarian and moderation unnecessary today...
Maybe I think/do that but have not really thought of it as a "rule" maybe a thinking mistake.
It was easier to not eat food on the plate when we had chickens and ducks because they at what was left. Now it goes into the garden as compost but chickens were easier. My thing there is to figure the points BEFORE I eat and then only eat what is on the plate.

The rule I can think of is "I must eat 3 meals each day." Some days I'm really now hungry but I eat anyway because I'm afraid that if I don't, I'll overeat at my next meal. Also, I have to have a protein, carb, and vegetable/fruit. Sometimes, I really am not in the mood for that. Perhaps its a good thing though. Not sure.....
