Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.

Good morning. Chilly start at 26 but it could be a lot worse for January 13th so I have to shut my mouth. Had a dusting of snow since last night. Looks like it will warm up to at least 30 for the day.
A 2 PAGER!!!!! Wow, amazing....!!!!!
Gareth, I think we all have that problem; inheriting pictures that we have no idea who the people are! We have a bunch like that too. You hate to throw them away, since someone kept them for a reason, way back when. I was just looking, yesterday at some pictures that surfaced with DB's things. I was happy that my DM actually labeled on the back who it was, and what year. So as you were going thru all those pictures, I was relooking at all of DB paperwork, and sure enough there was more to go to the shredders. I have been on a tear to find his title to his car and deed to his house, so I was looking in our safe for all the money from the funeral home, and lo and behold, there those were! I asked DH about it, as I did not know they were there, and yes, he had put them in there....ggrrr!!!
Anngie, 70!! Somehow that seems unusual for upper New York state, am I right? I hope you were able to get out and enjoy it. With DB scan results, you do tend to think there must be a greater power at work, deciding that DB had enough. That was the prayer that I had put on the other side of his prayer cards for people to take, at the funeral home. Every time I read it, I start crying. Did you watch the Packer game? As I was writing thank you cards to the visitors at the funeral home, I watched the first game, what an amazing game!!! A lot of good football this past weekend.
Robin, I think DH staying at the rehab dept is such a good idea. I know how he would be, if he had come home. Then taking him to his therapy appointments, would have been a nightmare. We all know how our DH's deal with pain, so I can say that it would not have been good with him here, right after coming out of the hospital. That stinks that you can't walk anymore. Walking on the treadmill at the Y has to be the most boring thing to do, but that is what I prefer right now. How long will your DH be gone? I think this is the longest DH and I have been separated, I think ever. Years ago when we lived in town, he would go way up north for deer hunting, and stay for a week up there, so this will top that. 68!!! I would have had our windows open too, for sure!!! I am so jealous of you and Anngie!!!
Carol, yes, your weather has been very weird! Between Texas and all those other southern states, you all got hit really hard, especially with the tornadoes. How awful having those go thru during the night. MY brother in law posted a few pictures on FB yesterday of all of them getting together at one of the mobile homes patio and the temp was in the 70's, everyone had on summer clothes. Must be nice, lol! Thank you, but sometimes I feel I could have done more for my DB, like going and checking on him, the weekend before Christmas. I really like the Y, for going to work out, I am just so used to that place, I don't think nothing of it. I would not want to try to go somewhere else tho. Places like Planet Fitness, or Experience Fitness give me the impression they are more geared to the younger people.
Pinky, planning Vegas already!!!! I sure like hearing that, as then we are getting closer and closer to spring!!! There are so many places in that area to go visit. You could even get some info about ghost towns to visit! We did that back in 94, as going to Cali, from Nevada, there was a ghost town we visited. It was so much fun! Good for your football team winning!!!! If they win all the time, that means how good the whole program is. Good luck with your eye appointment.
Needless to say, everyone in Green Bay is on a high, after the Packers beat Seattle yesterday!! I have to admit, that I quit watching, and went to bed with my kindle. There was something funky going on with the TV, as the picture would freeze up, then when it resumed, the play on the field was over. Very, very annoying! I checked DH TV in his room, to see if I could watch it in there, but it was doing the same thing, so I am going to add to my call list this morning, a call to our cable company. I do not want that happening on Sunday!
DH needs clean clothes brought up to him for this week, so I will be doing that this afternoon. This morning is a lot of phone calling. This will be a busy week, until Friday. Maybe that will be the day DH comes home.
Have a great day everyone.

We had 2.2"of snow overnight with more of the same tonight. Sounds like a storm brewing for Fri into Sat again too. Almost finished with Dear Wife so I can move on to something else. Listened to it while I walked. I'm glad I have the space downstairs to do it. I've never been one to go to a gym or the Y. Group exercising doesn't appeal to me. One thing I like about walking at home I can do it my pj's like I did first thing this morning.
Karen, I know my DS and family are happy too about Green Bay winning.
Robin, your poke bowl sounded good except for the raw fish. Just don't understand eating raw fish but I know a lot of people seem to like it.
As usual the weekend went by fast. Back to work today so gotta get ready...

I have not read through all of the posts because my head is foggy. I was fighting a cold all weekend and last night I took a 12 hour Sudafed and I didn't sleep at all - well maybe 3 hours. I am exhausted and my head is stuffy. No more Sudafed for me!
The surprise graduation party was very nice. The parties ds' gf throws have a pattern to them - lots of decorations, lots of food with themes, and lots of her family. To get ds out of the house she had her sister's fiancé take him drinking so he arrived at his surprise party drunk. I like him better sober. We had planned to only stay an hour but since the storm was not going to show up we stayed longer but we were still the first to leave. DH wanted to get home before dark and we didn't make it.
today dh is supposed to take dd to ds to stay before they fly out to Phoenix tomorrow morning so yesterday we packed her school things in her large suitcase and she will leave that and her backpack and tote bag in ds' car at the airport, then when they fly back she'll leave her small suitcase and her other backpack and take her school things with her on the bus. DH was fretting last night over the snow forecast and worried about driving her today and she was having a fit because he mentioned the bus and no way could she take all that stuff with her on the bus, but I think they will be fine to drive this afternoon. The snow has stopped except for occasional flurries so the roads should be ok (except that where ds lives the roads were awful on Saturday).

Karen, from what you said about those scans, I think your DB would have suffered a lot more had he lived longer. That seems to be the case, they are really not living, rather surviving, and not very well. If you check on him, you definitely would have seen him, but not sure there was anything you could have done. You did the best you could for him.
Marsha, unless I take a sudafed first thing in the morning, I can't take one or it will keep me up all night. If I am stuffy at night, I use Nyquil. So, the gf's DS's fiance took him drinking for lunch? Oh, to be so young and want to even do that. Glad the snow held off so you could go though. I am sure she entertains a lot differently than you do.
Hope today's travels work out well for DH bringing DD.
Gareth, sushi around here is very popular, so of course, being raw fish, and being something Asian, Poke bowls have really caught on. Now Mexican is becoming more popular with the younger set, but it has never been that popular here, but I know it's a big thing around the country. I guess the kind of snow you are getting, although not what anyone wants, it not abnormal. That is probably kind of what our normal would be, 2 inches here, 2 inches there, maybe with 1 or 2 big storms during the winter.
Karen, so glad your Packers won, that was an exciting game, as was the early game. I had trouble once or twice with the satellite feed, but nothing annoying.
I got quite a bit of reading done yesterday too, while I was sitting and keeping my eye on the games. I am reading The Third Daughter. It is a little hard to take, but it is historical fiction about a sad event in history from the late 1800's. A group of Organized Crime members prayed upon those who were uprooted from their homes in Russia by the pogroms, and young girls were taken away under false pretenses to be used as prostitutes in Argentina.

Robin - I have Nyquil and I may take it tonight. I haven't taken it in years and I recall that I was able to sleep with it but not feel rested. I'll see how I feel. Maybe I'll try to take nothing. I thought I had beaten this cold before it really caught hold but it was only giving me a day reprieve then came back with a vengeance. GF is very much into decorating with things like plaques that say "love in in this house" and that sort of thing, and I think when she throws birthday parties for her kids it will put every party I ever threw for my kids to shame! Everyone is different I guess.

It's warmer here today, but foggy. I had to make a quick run to the grocery store and was surprised by the fog.
We did a lot of Burger King and McDonalds birthday parties for our kids when they were young. I think we did a couple of Chuck E Cheese, too. I'm not a good party giver. What seems different (for lack of a better word) to me is the big birthday party for really little kids, like those turning 1. Lots of other little kids who really don't know what is going on. Oh, well, any excuse for cake.
To the ones who are tracking WW again, how did you choose which program to follow?
I'm reading The Bodies in the Library. It's a cozy mystery where a woman is a curator of a collection of women mystery writers. It is the beginning of a series where each book is based on a mystery by a woman-Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, etc. It is not a hard read, but I'm having trouble really getting into it.
Marsha, I sympathize with you. My head feels stuffy, too. Hope your DS and DD have a safe trip.

Well, there’s no reason to envy us in the NE now - it’s 36 degrees! It’s cold, damp and feels like snow - which we'll get this coming weekend or so they say.
Karen, no regrets! You did all you could for DB and you should walk away with a smile on your face. Congrats to the Packers! What a game! The other three games were fun to watch too. Did DH have his first day of rehab today?
Marsha, my DH was fighting a slight cold too but ended up going to see a PA and getting an antibiotic. My guess is he would have ended up getting strep throat if he hadn’t gone. Actually, he started taking an oc medication at the first signs but I think it did more harm than good. He doesn’t seem to understand that these meds are for making symptoms manageable once he gets the cold - there is no cure for the common cold! Glad to see the grad. party was a success! Nice too that the kids will be off to see your mom soon! It’ll make her day!
Robin, Mexican food is becoming more and more popular here too. Surprisingly, DH likes it which is good for me! I think you mentioned once not really liking The Alice Network - what didn’t you like about it?
Hi Carol and Gareth!
Tonight we’re taking DS2 and his DGF out to dinner for her birthday. They chose an Italian restaurant not far from where they live. I checked the menu online and it’s pretty much written in Italian. This should be fun! I’m adventurous in ordering in restaurants but not DH! He’ll order lasagna! Easy! ha

We are definitely colder here today, but still 45 now at 5:15, so not terrible. It must have drizzled a bit earlier, I saw it on the cars, but not bad.
Anngie, I don't remember anything specifically I didn't like, but it just didn't grab me and I didn't read too much of it. I might try it again at some point to see if it was the time, or the book.
Carol, I am using the Green Plan. It's like Smart Points. You get more points per day, but you don't have all the zero point foods, so for me I think that's better. I just know how little I have to eat most days in order to lose, so I would rather not think of non-fat plain greek yogurt, eggs, chicken, fish, beans, corn, all that kind of stuff as 0 points. I know that no matter what they say, it is really all about the calories you burn. When I used to go to meetings, there was 1 woman who I thought was quite thin, but she wanted to lose. She said she ate a banana every day. I suggested she not eat that, and she would probably lose, and surely enough she did. The Blue plan has more 0 point foods, the Purple Plan has the most. I think Purple is more like the old Core, where you ate the "Power Foods" and had very few points.
