Susi Yes, mom is on anti-depressants. W/ the swelling & infection, mom's lower legs were painful & red. She was to keep her legs elevated. Was very miserable. Had wanted to go to ER, but nurse said no & doctor performed exam & prescribed antibiotics.
The mom more laid in her bed, the more her spirits dropped & her mind dwelled on how miserable she felt. She needs and thrives on interaction & stimulation. After age 86, she became less resilient about medical issues & more propose to flagging spirits & such.
The upside to the nursing home I spent that the regular schedule, activities, conversations, and so on just provided more positive stimulation that I could.
But I could tell on Saturday that she needed more of my time & attention right now. I spent s 2-2 1/2 hours twice a day. We applied cold compresses. Got nurse to give Extra strength Tylenol. Provided distraction. The transformation from start of visit to end was considerable. Nursing home staff had not seen this side of mom. But I had.
Glad she is better.
Heading off to school.

June, I hope there’s a cancellation for R to have an earlier surgery. Sending prayers for him and your mom as well. I do not volunteer at Leo’s school this year. I had too many issues with anxiety in the fall and am trying to simplify my life. Becky, good improvement on your knee. So glad exercises at home have helped Susi, does Midnight eat anything outside that may affect her stools. We have to watch Lily Belle. LaDonna, what a delicious dinner you had last night. Ann, your surgeon is so attentive to trying to help ease your pain. You are lucky to have him.

June, my mom was in a nursing home for a month where they kept her in bed even though she was capable of walking. Luckily her doctor moved her to a better place where there was lots of stimulation and they got her up and dressed every morning.

Audrey these past surgeries when I went to 2 different surgeons I felt very blessed and grateful having found them. There is no easy fix....the radiation did its damage. I just need to decide on a path with his guidance that does not involve PT. I shall continue to send the photos every other day.

Never did make it to Marshall's or the Dollar Tree. While walking LuLa, we were invited in for coffee and y'all know how that goes. Luckily I got by with just having ONE small cookie LOL...Carl on the other hand helped her out It feels like it's going to rain/show. Very dampish out there. I am going to forego the second hood walk as I don't want to tempt the gods with the pain coming back. The nursing home where my grandmother was had a lot of activities and they actually had volunteers that would sit and spend time with those that didn't have a lot of visitors. My grandmother used to like to walk, and would position herself at the nurses station asking when her 'walk around the floor' would happen. It was pretty hard to ignore her, as she was VERY outspoken. Time to relax and read.

I was accountable at WI this morning. I’m now home and enjoying sitting in the sunshine although I do keep falling asleep. 😊 I’m having a quiet afternoon as I plan my meals and track as well as I keep hydrating and moving. KOKO is important for me. I know what I need to do as I enter this new week. I’m smiling as I continue to aim for blue.

MJ You need to take care that you can do what you need to do.I hope nothing will stand in the way of that.
June I'm glad your DM is responding to antibiotics.I hope the first day of school wasn't too bad.I am pleased with the 7 degree change in mobility but I can tell I still have a long way to go.Prayers for R's appointment and surgery.I'm glad your mom was able to participate in meals and activities yesterday.I'm sure that will help her state of mind.
LaDonna I have moved some more today but with our weather the knee is not cooperating. We did have to go to a larger HEB today in another town so I did get more steps that way.I'm glad your shoulder is feeling better.I'm glad you enjoyed last night.

Ann Good for you limiting yourself to just one cookie. It's been damp and humid here today and too warm for January. It's 73 right now and supposed to get up to 78 tomorrow. We have had a lot of early morning fog also.
Pam Great goals.
We headed to Bastrop in the dense fog this morning. We had an appointment with an attorney to get started on our wills. He was indeed a talker and we spent 1.5 hrs there. After we ate out and went to Academy for new sneakers hopefully to help my knee.
