Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home. Good morning.
28 degrees here. Have not seen the forecast, but I see someone turned on the snow machine. Night before last we got a couple inches of snow, then last night during the night it snowed, maybe an inch? Not sure, it looks light from my window. I think tomorrow we are expecting 1"-3", so we are slowly getting more snow.
Gareth, I had heard something about this weekend and snow, a few days ago, but after how they weather guys majorly goofed up last weekend, I did not pay any attention in the past 2 days, to this weekend. If I had your set up, in your basement, I would do that also. I remember, back in the day, I had a treadmill in my basement. For a long time I loved it. Then I started walking outside, and never went back to the treadmill. When I got sick with the lung cancer, DH and his brother got rid of the treadmill. I usually think the weekend goes by fast, but this past weekend seemed to drag. What with DH not here, that sure makes a difference. I was even looking at part time job listings last night. Then I re thought that, lol.
Marsha, oh my! Sudafed....yeah, that is one med I never take. I have a cough I can not shake, so if it is acting up a lot in the late evening, I take the Nyquil, (I do hesitate, as I remember how I used to feel taking that stuff), and it does help put you to sleep, and I get up just fine in the morning. I hope you gave it a try last night. How did you like our big storm? That sure was a bust!!! (Mind you, I was happy, but could not believe that as of Friday, they were still predicting the big amounts) Did everything work out yesterday, with DH running DD down to DS?
Robin, thank you for your kind words. I feel the same as Gareth, about the raw fish. Of course I came late to the party, for even eating cooked fish. It took me till I was in my 40's (aprox) to enjoy cooked fish. I do love baked haddock/cod. Thank you, about the Packers. I hope we see a better team this weekend, than the last time they played the 49ers. That was a disaster. The Houston/Chiefs game earlier that day was unreal! Indeed, it is all about the calories burned, when it comes to any weight loss plan.
Carol, kids birthday parties....we used to have just have parties at the house, till they got a bit older, then for awhile we were doing slumber parties, then motel parties. Now those were fun! One of my DD's was, for awhile doing the kids parties at Hardee's, as they have a huge playland. Other DD just does the party at home. That one helps that his birthday is in July, so she always has it outside, and knock on wood, not once has it rained. I am doing the Blue program. But I still don't have my head in it. I do it 1 day, then the next day I goof it all up. I feel the blue plan is like the plan they had us on, right before they gave us an option of the 3, so I was comfortable with it.
Visited with DH yesterday. He is really in a tough spot right now, with mobility. Glad he is there, getting that intensive therapy. Today is my pneumonia shot, then the meeting with DB financial advisor. I will be missing a meeting with DH case worker, but that can't be helped. I might stop in by him later in the afternoon, then he can fill me in.
Have a nice day everyone.

Karen, when is your DD's surgery? Soon I think. I can understand having the weekends drag when you are home alone. I need the rest, but both days alone can be lonely. I guess by the time I got back from dropping DH at the airport and doing some food shopping it was close to noon, so after a little straightening, and of course being online, it was time for football. I just was not in the mood for calling up a friend. Here it was 37 when I walked the dog, nice for January, and no wind. Looking at the 10 day forecast, I am only seeing, at the most, 1-3 inches of snow, so not expecting much of anything. 3 inches I can definitely live with, 1 is really nothing, and temps will not be all that cold.
Carol, about the birthday parties, for my kids, who were born in July, I had home parties the first few years, although hired entertainment, but then did parties at the end of June, anything from bowling, miniature golf, a sports place that ran parties, a party place that had video games lined up around it, there were always places that catered to parties. The only adults were aunts and uncles. My DS gets invited to a lot of birthday parties for their friends little ones. Now that she is pregnant they feel like they belong more. Before that most of the time not.

Walk is done along with some laundry. Just had breakfast. Time to just sit for awhile. It's my later shift today at work. It's been so busy at work. Lately I'm always late getting off work. I haven't heard how much snow we got in the night but it had to be at least 2" since our snow removal guys come when it's 2" or more. They had been here before I got up. They're so dependable and reliable. I started Diane Chamberlin's newest book Big Lies In A Small Town this morning. I always enjoy her books. Needed a change from all the thrillers I've been listening to lately.
Karen, like you I'm hoping this weekend's forecast turns out like last weekend when we didn't get all the predicted snow either. Does the meeting with DH's caseworker have to do with being moved to rehab?
Robin, sushi is very popular around here too. I love fish but it's got to be cooked for me. My sister loves steak tartare another thing I don't understand.
Anngie, how was your Italian dinner? I love Italian food but then there isn't much food that I don't like!
Carol, there's an assessment you can take that points you toward which color program to get started on with WW. You can always change it to at any time though we recommend giving it two weeks to give it a fair shot.
Marsha, hope you were able to get a good night's sleep and you're feeling better this morning.
Hi Pinky!

Thanks for the information about the new WW plans.
In Texas, of course, Mexican is popular. You can get all kinds. We love it. I've had sushi, but I don't like it. If we go to an Asian restaurant with our kids, they try to pick out a place that has other things beside sushi.
It is 62 degrees right now and cloudy. Starting Thursday it should get cooler again like last weekend. Since the storms last weekend, our cable and computer have been messing up. The TV is working right now, but the internet was down this morning. It is working now so I hope everything is fixed. It seems like every time we have a big storm something messes up like that.

Gareth, I checked Big Lies in a Small Town, because I like Diane Chamberlain, but both of my libraries only have it on audio. I know that would be fine with you, but right now I am nto doing audio books. If it ends up that when DS & DDIL have their baby, and they get into one of the day care places that allows less than 5 days a week, I will commute on the train and start using audio books. I know sushi has gotten popular all over. The most interesting thing around here is that every supermarket now has a sushi section where they have a sushi chef making different kinds of rolls or pieces that they sell to take out. They are not usually worth getting in my mind, but they are pretty popular.
Carol, yes of course you would have a lot of Mexican, and probably delicious Mexican too. DH does not particularly like Mexican, so it's not even something I would do for take out. If I make sheet pan fajitas, that's about as Mexican as he will get. Once in a while I will make Tacos also using the envelopes of taco seasoning with 1 point tortillas, and he will reluctantly eat it. Seeing as he keeps saying he wants cooked meal (of course then when I have something he doesn't want it), I might just make tacos next week.
It's been raining here this afternoon, Saturday is going to be a mix of rain and snow, so not sure how 1-3 inches will accumulate, especially because they are not expecting temperatures to drop below freezing.
I do not bother with anyone clearing the walk for even 6 inches. I will shovel the walk, DH will do the snow blower.
Anngie, seeing as I keep seeing people saying that The Alice Network is so great, I put it on hold again from both libraries. I am sure I have told you this, but you do know you can use NY Public Library too, right? I did it all online and by phone. I had to email them my driver's license.
