Sunday I can PTMH and get laundry and household chores done. Weather permitting I'll walk outdoors. If not it'll be another house walking day.
Not much contact from Donna and I'm okay with that.
Sleep well.

Joining forces with you, Becky. You're welcome. Carl just left to snowblower a driveway for a woman that gets out of work at 11 pm.
I'm going to wait up for him.

Sunday: KOKO - Hope to talk to granddaughters today though I think they have a swim meet so perhaps not.
ANN: I hope Donna is okay but know what you mean about being okay not hearing from her. What a helpful giving man Carl sounds to be! My daughter gave me and her dad bug jackets....have not tried them yet but they are made of net and she wears them when she goes out in summer - in their woods. I think a bug body suit sprayed with bug spray might be the way to go
BECKY: I will KOKO along with you. I have heard good things about knee replacement surgery. I wish my mother-in-law and sister-in-law had gone in and had it done instead of being in pain for decades. When the knees are kaput shoes won't fix it.
JUNE: Sorry your message poofed...hate that. Glad to hear all is well with the fusion your husband had. How interesting that your father called oatmeal mother's oats. I remember at our house we always stirred the brown sugar and milk into the oats but one time went to a friend of my parents' to stay a few days and she left the oatmeal solid, made a well in the middle, put the brown sugar inside the well and poured cream around the edges...it was delicious that way and became my favorite way to eat it. I had never thought of splatting bugs that superheroes woul dhave to contend with...even if they wore face masks bet the vision would be impacted by bugs...glad you had your ten minutes and moved on.
SUSI: The ferals are so lucky to have you! Your spin class sounds strenuous but perfect for you. I remember the first time I had buffalo chicken dip...it was delicious. Isn't it mostly flavored with hot sauce and blue cheese?
PAM: waving from Lebanon!
AUDREY: I am glad you were able to attend and enjoy the ballet recital. I love a good tostada, burrito or other Mexican food - favorite meal is beans, rice and cheese enchiladas...not points friendly but definitely tasty.
THE SUN IS GONE ~ ~ I at least had sunshine while writing to all of you

Goooooood morning
Ann Sounds like a sensible plan for a laid back Sunday. Good thing Carl can help so many neighbors. Glad that your snowblower is working fine this winter. Audrey Nice that you could attend Nora's recital, then enjoy a light lunch. Good that OTC medicine soothed Bob's throat & he could walk w/ his "girls."
Yes, even simple social conventions can be tricky when interacting w/ aging parents. Mom was very upset that she was not sent to the ER when she reported that her legs were so swollen. She has not felt "heard." She wrote herself notes about asking her daughters to help her. (Broke my heart). I was walking a line between letting her know she was heard and trying not to feed into that thought. Very glad that she felt more like herself & was more upbeat.
Becky Fully understand your apprehension about having knee surgery. Who wouldn't be nervous? It's a big decision. You have done all that you could do for your knees short of having surgery. That same gritty detrimination will see you through this next step. Hopefully, the surgeon can ease your mind a little. Glad that the older brace and NB shoes are helping a little. Sending you lots of positive energy and prayers.
Cathy Whenever I read about your bean based dishes, They make me hungry. Hope that the time difference & swim meet do not sideline your Skype visit w/ your DGS.
Wonder if dad called them "mother oats" because his Ukrainian mother did. Once saw a Tv snippet about making savory baked or fried oat cakes. Sounded tasty.
Pam Hope that you were able to attend church last night. Laundry is on our agenda today, too. Also football!

Sunday's goals Lots of healthy leftovers for meals today-- steel cut oats, lean pork chops, baked sweet potatoes, beef stew and so on. Only need to make a salad & maybe a diet strawberry jello to round out today's menu.
Possible activities Will salt the brick walks & cement to garage if needed. May sweep & mop before football games begin. Laundry. If hard surfaces are not icy, I may drive us to the mall for a walk.

Good morning all. Got a good sleep and for that I'm most grateful. I don't have to tell you where Carl is LOL......The snow does look pretty. I am going to do my chores while he is 'out there' so that we can enjoy a quiet peaceful Sunday together. That's the plan anyway June your mom sounds a lot like my grandma. She wanted all of her medical issues taken care of pronto. I feel they reach a point where they feel they are not longer important...or perhaps that's not the word I'm looking for.....(((hugs))) to you and prayers for you DM and R. Your lo meals sound great. I'd go for the jello to end the meal Cathy yes I also hope that Donna is doing better. When I hear from her, I respond. I wear bug bracelets and spray my clothing with but spray before I leave the house. Sometimes it helps! Hope you do get to talk to your grand kids. I've stripped the bed and have sheets washing. Waving and wishing AWF a good OP Sunday.

Ann - Carl is such a blessing for your neighbors and friends. Have a great KOKO day. Becky - Every one of my friends who have had a knee or hip replacement regret waiting so long. The pain relief was amazing. Cathy - Hope you can get face time with your granddaughters. Spin is a class that can be as easy or as hard as you make it. The Pelaton commercials make it look brutal and that's how I ride it but it great for beginners as well. June - Hugs, love and prayers. Hope you can enjoy those leftovers and enjoy the football game. Chicken salad is made and I will assemble the sandwiches later this afternoon. I'll eat lightly today so I have lots of wiggle room for the soup/salad/sandwich event later. Ferals are fed and I am off to spin. Nap immediately after! LOL

Good morning, Ann - Becky - Cathy - June - Susi - Bee - and AWF! Prayers continue for all ailing and/or stressed posters and loved ones... and thank you for your prayers for me and my family... especially for the Mouseketeer... and for Son#1, who is slowly getting better... I never did get here yesterday, did I? 😲 ⛅️🌤☀️🌤⛅️🌤☀️🌤⛅️ I slept late today - 7:45 AM - although the first half of the night was spent in my recliner (Toots just threw an afghan over me). Now I've had breakfast and have the bedding in the wash. There'll be a couple more loads through the course of the afternoon/evening and then I'll be <whispering> ahead of the game for the week. Today? It's sunny and temps are over 32*. The wintry mix has mostly melted away and the continuing winds are drying things up. Yesterday's storm was intense when it hit so this is a real relief. As for us, we have nothing on our agenda. Well, that's not quite true - I have a bunch of paperwork-y things on mine. And laundry. But our Big Event will be watching football at 3 and 6:30 PM. The Kressling is still here, and - since there's no school tomorrow and Son#1 is off from work - I'm not sure what time he'll go home. Yesterday's YM drill was abbreviated (only 4 hours) but intense. We had a lot going on and got a lot accomplished. Just as we dismissed, the snow started coming down. Our commander's flight to MO was cancelled, so he was there after all, plus a guy who's in the process of getting approved as an adult volunteer. And 18 YM attended, more than I'd expected. Our big project yesterday was Valentines for Veterans. You may have seen, either on FB or some other media, the story about the 104-yr-old Marine vet who asked for valentines for his scrapbook. local21news.com/.../104-year-old-wwii-veteran... Each YM signed a valentine for him and then put it in its own envelope with Thank you for your service on the front. Plus we are putting a card "from North Jersey Young Marines" that includes a picture that a mom took yesterday morning (see avatar). But North Jersey Young Marines didn't stop there. Major Bill White may have gotten a lot of press coverage, but we have a Marine vet and an Army vet who have connections to our YM unit, and we prepared packages for them, too. I'll get 'em all in the mail on Tuesday. And our YM (once they'd gotten over the idea of "VALENTINES?!?!? <eeewww>" got into preparing the cover envelopes and really tried to do a good job. Coffee tastes especially good today... ☕☕☕... ⛅️🌤☀️🌤⛅️🌤☀️🌤⛅️ Have a healthy-eating day, all! ⛅️🌤☀️🌤⛅️🌤☀️🌤⛅️

Hi Bee! MJ - What an awesome organization YM is! Especially in this day and age. It's nice that the Kressling enjoys spending so much time with you.

Ann Those big, soft flakes falling outside are pretty to watch from the inside. I also like walking or shoveling snow when few people are out & about. Seems tranquil. Ha ha ha... does Carl have his feet up? He should!
Mom has never adjusted to being less than a high functioning senior citizen. She was use to looking, acting, & feeling like she was 15-20 years younger than her age. When she got the the nursing home, she was able to "see" how much better off she is. She had a greater sense of independence & engagement. All good. But w/ this incident she wanted to go to ER because it was painful & we drilled into her & dad's heads to call 911. This week was the first time she expressed any desire to leave the nursing home or complained about the staff. Ha ha ha... she has had plenty complaints about a resident, Rose, who tries to boss mom around. So NOT happening.
I probably would have been able to handle mom's situation better under normal conditions. But . . .
