This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning friends & Happy Sunday.
The outside thermometer is reading a chilly 25 degrees this morning, so Brrrrrr! It's earlier than normal for me, but I slept feel like I slept deep and solidly last night, so I'm up and at 'em this morning. Also, coffee helps! Ha! This morning I have a pot of Hot Buttered Rum flavored coffee from Target's holiday line. It's just so decadent and lovely.
About yesterday, the visit actually went better than I had hoped. Of course not one single mention was made of past ugliness. We have agreed to meet them again before too long for a bite of lunch or early dinner out. As we were leaving his wife said she had something for me. In my mind I was bracing for a hatchet between the eyes (just kidding). But she gave me a table cloth crocheted from that tiny. thin thread. She said she didn't know if it was made by my mother or my grandmother, but she wanted me to have it. I know it wasn't my made by my mother, because she hated working with that tiny thread because it took to long to turn into something. So it must have been made by my grandmother. I appreciate that she gave it to me, but still have to wonder....Why the hell was she hanging on to it this long, if it's something made by my mother or grandmother? Why wouldn't it have already been given to me or my sister LONG before now? My grandmother passed in 1987, my mom passed in 1992, she and my father have been married since 1997 (I believe), why was she holding onto it this long??? Oh well, letting that go. It's lovely and it's mine now and I will take good care of it and pass it to DD in the future.
The movie was really good, except that I ended up beside the most annoying couple ever. He chomped a ginormous bucket of popcorn and slurped a giant soda during the whole movie and he hogged the common arm rest to the point that his elbow was hanging off the edge on my side. I mean the seats are wide, and he wasn't touching me, I just found it irritating. He was a loud chewer and I found that a bit distracting in the beginning, and his wife seemed to want to narrate the entire movie. OMGosh! SHUT UP! Being emotionally spent from spending an hour and a half on edge at my father's house, kept me from shushing them. Other than those folks, we truly enjoyed the story. Mark likes to sit on the aisle seat, so I'm thinking next time I might buy the empty seat on the other side of me as well. The matinee movies are only $5, so buying the extra empty seat would be well worth the price, I think. Ha!
I'm not sure we have much planned for today, I need to make a quick shopping run for a few oddball things like hair gel, parchment paper, dish soap, etc. But I might wait until the first of the week to get out and just spend today recovering from our long & emotionally draining day yesterday.

Hi Everyone, Today will be busy I suspect. This morning my sister ( the one from Isreal) and I are going out for brunch at a nearby diner. Then food shopping in between for my friend and then we will be going to a art musuem in center city and then dinner at this vegetarian restaurant. Enough? Lol! That is the plan anyway. One of the reasons tho that my sister is here is to visit some friends that have had recent surgeries and one family who has a daughter who is about to pass away from cancer. She has a premonition that it will be very soon though so our plans could change if that occurs. Lora, glad that you got thru the visit with your father and his wife without too much damage and hostility. Have to get myself ready and clear the car off as well. Have a great day!

Good morning all. This might be a quick one because DSon and family are due any minute and then bedlam will follow. I've been up since 4, no reason, got to the supermarket at 7:30 after cleaning snow off my car and then shoveling what fell on the ground so I could get out. I'm so over having to do this, you can't imagine. Made the egg casserole I know DS likes, bought some bagels and cream cheeses and a couple of muffins, made a bowl of mixed berries, and I also have some smoked salmon. I'm set but pooped. Had to straighten the house, of course, and retrieve a chair and booster seat from the basement, set the table, empty the trash, and move my car to visitor parking so DS can park next to my front door. I'm starting to sound like my DM - entertaining is exhausting. And they're not even here yet!!!
Hope we can go sledding with the kiddos - it's fairly mild out today and there was a good snowfall, but it depends on whether DS can locate a sled before he gets here.
Lora, I'm so glad the day wasn't as bad as you had anticipated. I'd like to think that your DF's wife put all sorts of things in storage or in boxes to get to later and just forgot about it all, that it wasn't a deliberate slap at you and DS. But who knows. Yeah, best to let go of it. She's not a thoughtful person, clearly (I know that's an understatement). Enjoy some rest and recovery today.
Janet, have fun with the Israel sister. Wow, she has a big extended family! I love the idea of a vegetarian restaurant in Center City, love vegetarian food altogether (if someone else prepares it...).
Have a relaxing day, all.

Good Morning ... first YIPPEE Lora - I was thrilled to read that the visit went OK....OK is fabulous...right??? I think this was better than any in the past and I am proud of you and Mark for holding it together. I am sooo glad that you got your DGM's table cloth...just look at it this way - she could have never given it to you at all and after everyone had passed away it would have gone to her kids or Goodwill or whatever and you would not have it to give to DD. I know the visit had to be VERY stressful no matter what though. Glad you liked the movie, but sorry about the guy next to you chomping away, etc.
Janet - sounds like a big eating day today with brunch and dinner out. I am sure you will enjoy the art museum too. So there are 4 sisters, and you are number 3 in order of birth - is that right?
Andi - have fun today with DS and the littles...I know what you mean about being worn out after they leave and I totally agree that entertaining is a lot of work and draining. Wish I was as good at it as RobinS seems to be ! Was the time just chillin' at home yesterday as wonderful as I imagine?
RobinMD - sounds like everyone north of me is dealing with snow, ice, shoveling, etc. We dodged the bullet, but did get some rain and it was so cold, I am just glad it wasn't ice!
I had a rough night..coughing, etc, but the birthday party yesterday was fun! On the other hand, the "sample" gym class I took (CXWORX - what ever that means) which is described as a revolutionary total body core strengthening class, was tough. When finished I said, "I am still alive." I only heard one modification offered, BUT I saw an older instructor in the class and a modification she made so did that. It looked to me like the younger ones did fine...enough said? Anyway, everything but my nose hurts today - lol - So I think I REALLY need to take this class again (evidently all of these classes are 30 minutes -jeesh - no wonder) and try to remember some of the moves to practice at home, since I definitely need A LOT of core strengthening.
Nothing planned today but Hand & Foot at the clubhouse this evening...hope everyone has a great day...bbl

Good morning,
I am just popping in to say hello for now. I have to run to the store for a couple of things for the week...no big plans, though. ODD might come over later, and I'm going to have her help me move my old, big TV to a different table in the loft. I'm really liking that space up there. It is really cold here this morning, but skies are clearing. I don't really feel like going out, but I need more dog food!
I will be back and catch up on personals. I'm waving to all of you! RobinMD

Hello again,
I've been doing some meal prep and so far I've used the IP to cook a chuck roast that I cooked from frozen the melt in your mouth tender and then followed that with 18 HB eggs. Mark asked for egg salad to take to work for Mon. and & Wed. this week. So all I'll have to do is mix that up for him. I might go ahead and do that now and portion it into the individual serving containers. The roast was a smallish one, but I'll eat that myself this week for lunches.
Andi - I hope you enjoy your time with DS and family visiting, and that the littles don't destroy your place so much that you have lots of clean up after they leave. Ha.
Janet - it does sound like you will be go-go-going all day. Kind of a "Susie Day", for you, isn't it? Haha!
RobinMD - Oh girl! Watch your back moving that TV! I'd hate for you to tweak it again. Hopefully your trip to the store isn't too taxing.
Susie - I hope you're not sore after that "revolutionary" workout. I always chuckle when they label something like that. I mean is there really anything "new" in the workout world. Not really. It's all pretty much just variations on stuff that has been around forever. I mean the human body only moves in so many directions, right?

Hello again,
Lora, the meal prep is so helpful through the week. I'm going to be planning out some lunches and dinners for the week. Egg salad sounds great. I have about 3 dozen eggs from my friend's MIL's chickens. They are so good. I love to make an avocado, egg salad, and sometimes bacon breakfast sandwich. I like to use really good whole grain bread, and it fills me up. I find that eggs last me through a long part of the day. I like to have a little fruit of some kind in the morning, and when I have this combo, I rarely feel hungry at lunch, and I have more energy. I will remember to use good body mechanics! That darn TV is crazy heavy. It was a gift, before the easy-to-carry flat screen TVs got so affordable. It is a good TV so I keep it, but I sure appreciate the flat screens! That tablecloth sounds beautiful...I'm so glad you have it now. I wonder what else she might have...
Andi, I hope you are having a good visit with DS. Hope your weather is better for being out, too. It is cold out there, but definitely nicer today. Just windy. Janet, I hope you enjoy your busy day, too! Like Lora said, you are in Susie mode! Susie, I sure am sorry you had such a bad night. Maybe you'll be so tired after Hand & Foot, that you will sleep really well tonight!
I haven't been too terribly productive today, either. I got what was on my list at the store, and the butcher had my dog bones ready. I was good about not getting anything extra...even though the Drake's Buttercream Frosted cream-filled cupcakes were screaming my name! Then I came home and hung some pictures and things in the loft. I need to go to my cable provider and get another converter box, and I'll be able to watch TV up there if I want to. It is a very pleasant space, and would be nice for reading, too. I can't wait to get the curtains. I have some old ones hanging up there now, so it isn't urgent, but now that I know what color I want, I'm anxious to get them up! I'm also going to take some more plants up there. I still want to rearrange the living room, but I need to paint the trim on the new windows, so I will super-clean and move furniture when I do that (hopefully in the very near future...I already have the paint. I do need to repaint the loft, but I washed the walls before I hung pictures, and it bought me a little time! HA!
Well, I never ate lunch, so I am going to go make myself a chicken Caesar salad, and then I'll just have soup for dinner, or something light like that. And I am watching the playoff games to see who is going to the Super Bowl!

Well, I was out all day as I said..The vegetarian restaurant was good. Basically it was a lot of small plates of different foods that we shared among us. I thought initially from the menu that I would choose one or maybe two items from the menu but the plates were not cheap for the amount of food on it. It was presented very nicely but the total bill was over 200.00 between five of us. I do have 3 sisters and a brother who lives in Florida pretty close to Disney (Land?). Age wise he is actually the middle child. I am second to the youngest ( youngest now being relative-lol!) I mentioned this morning about my sister's friend's daughter who wasn't doing well. Well, the funeral is on Tuesday. They heard this evening. Tommorow we are planning to go to the movies. I might skip that as I just saw Little Women but I will see. Then we will have dinner and ice cream afterwards at my sister's place. Now just relaxing with the cat on my lap. I haven't seen much of her today. Have a good night.
