This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning friends!
Not much news from here today. It's cold again here this morning at 25 degrees, but I think we're supposed to warm up to about 40 today, Yay! And then the rain comes back for Thurs & Fri. Sigh.
Anyway, no real plans for today. I'll probably just hang around here and do some things around the house. I was thinking that before too long I should get together all the stuff and go ahead and make up a batch of bone broth and freeze it in portion sizes. It would be a good thing to have on hand for Mark after his surgery.
I hope everybody has a great Wednesday. I'll check back later.

oh geez - I just typed a long post and lost the whole thing. First time that has ever happened to me on this board. Boo!
Lora - looks like we are posting at the same time.
I not only lost an adult in my house (DD) but we are also down 2 dogs. So we went from 5 dogs to 3. That is wonderful. I am also starting to declutter some. I can't wait until I am done with that part.
Today is day 10 of being on keto for me. Also day 10 of being 30 days alcohol free - weekends are really the only time I drink but I am giving up alcohol for at least the next 30 days. I am down 8 lbs, and I feel like I have so much energy. I do not have the afternoon slump of feeling tired and groggy.
Today is chilly but the weather is supposed to be warming up some after today.
Not much other than working going on for me.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!
Susie - I hope you are feeling better.

Jana - WOW! you're seeing great progress! Isn't that energy and skipping the after noon slump just the best? How is the coffee with no sweetener going? Oh, I remember what I was going to mention. If you like coconut, a teaspoon of unrefined coconut oil buzzed in will add a bit of a sweet flavor without adding any actual sweetener. Sometimes that can help.

Lora yes the energy is great. I just feel better in general. I imagine it will get better and better. I am not having tummy issues and I have not had a blood sugar episode in the last 10 days. TMI alert - My BM's were running and frequent (this is a product of WLS and eating things I should not eat) but now they are normal. My cravings are subsiding as well. AND my jeans feel looser! Now I did buy 2 pairs of jeans size 10 because I was so freaking miserable in my 8s. The 10s were getting super tight as well but now they are very comfy and I have found myself pulling them up several times today
My biggest hurdle is going to be alcohol on the weekends when we are hanging out with friends. It is such a huge social thing for me. Hopefully I will get past the struggle and not miss it. We have 2 concerts we are going to in February. They will both be within my 30 days - so this is going to be different and interesting. I am determined to get through them alcohol free.

Hello everyone...slept well - just collapsed last night and went to bed without taking off my socks or even my robe - ha! Got up early and was off to my Dr appt...didn't get to the gym this morning due to the Dr appt. Made several stops (Trader Joe's, etc) since I was on the other side of town. Got home with a few minutes to spare before I left for mah jongg. Next I need to pick up DGS, head to the weekly church dinner, and then rush to Bunco...but, all-in-all it has been a fairly relaxing day for me.
Lora - having the bone broth ready sounds like a great plan for Mark after the surgery.
Jana - OH yippee for the dogs gone too!! Congrats on Day 10 of being on your plan...the feeling of those jeans falling down must be fabulous!

Jana - What a great list of positives you're seeing. I swear, it's all the things like that that keep me on the straight and narrow. I like feeling this way more than I miss the stuff I used to consume that hurt me.
Susie - I was reading your post and thinking, "Good gosh! She never slows down!" And the you close with "it's been a fairly relaxing day". Lol I guess it's all in the lens you're viewing it through, right?

Happy Hump Day,
Halfway to Friday (although I'm working this Saturday, but still...). I had a fairly tense, not fun day at work today. It seems I am having some kind of issue with a couple of my co-workers and it makes work just not much fun. My doc and I are still a great team and have no problems, but I am just tired of some of the shenanigans of a couple of people, because their bad work ethic has affected the communication and care of a couple of my patients. Anyway, I am going in tomorrow, and its a new day and I will just do MY best.
Lora, I am dumb-founded that Mark had no pain. I know how uncomfortable even a mild sinus infection can be, and to have all that going on in that small space, if he HAD had pain, it would have been miserable. Glad this will all finally be over for him though! Seems like he has really been a trooper about it (or you just kept the complaints to yourself!).
Jana, it is so good to hear you are having such great results from your efforts! Sounds like you are in a groove and killing it! I know what you mean about having alcohol when out with friends and being social. I usually sip on a Mike's hard lemonade when I am out, and when abstaining, I have a nice cold bottle of Sparkling water. The ones I buy come in lemon, lime, watermelon, and a couple of other fruits and it just tastes like a very lightly flavored refreshing glass of Mike's. I know sometimes people have substitutes like that.
Susie, I had a chuckle with the visual of you passed out in your robe and slippers! I'm just glad you got some good rest. I'm glad you felt like today was going to be relaxing! You squeezed in quite a few things!
Well, I don't have much to say about today, so I am going to fix up a light snack, and something for lunch tomorrow. I'll probably head on up to bed soon, and read a bit. My leg has been hurting at night and waking me up. I'm really going to have to break down and see my ortho surgeon. I've just kept hoping it would calm down. I hope everyone is having a good evening. The weekend is ever so close! I'll be back tomorrow. I am waving to all!

Good evening all. OMG it's been the week from hell for me and I'm only 2 days in! I'm glad I don't have 5 until the weekend - thank goodness for the short week this week. Yesterday I was super busy and then had singing last night. PT this morning at 6:30 followed by picking up my staff person with the brain injury, heaving his walker into my car and carrying his bags (Susie, I don't know how you did months of loading and unloading a wheelchair!!!) and going to an intense 2 hour merger meeting with senior staff of both organizations. Brief break for lunch and then a two hour directors meeting, taking my staff person home, and then going to another office for a finance committee meeting in which I asked for money to buy two new vans and to give all the directors pay increases. I got support for the vans but they punted the salary increases to the full board which meets next week. Then home, picked up DN who is having gall bladder surgery tomorrow and took her out to dinner. And now I'm in bed barely conscious. Because of course I don't sleep well, as I might have mentioned . Tomorrow I have a call with our merger lawyers from 10:30-11:30 (at $650 an hour!) and then have to run to catch a train to the city as soon as it's over. I'll be home after 8 tomorrow night. Thanks for listening. Makes me feel better just to write it all down. Was feeling a little sorry for myself and the weight of the world on my shoulders. I can't remember if I told you all that I had my annual physical with my doc back in December but my labs didn't come back in time for him to review them with me so he did so yesterday (and gave me a tetanus shot, forgot to mention that on top of everything else!) and everything looks perfect plus my total cholesterol dropped by 40 points. It has to be the exercise because it sure isn't my clean eating! RobinMD, sorry about the work stress. What happened to your leg? I sympathize, have sciatica and it periodically drives me out of my mind. Susie, I totally get passing out still dressed. I had one night last week where I couldn't even make it to the bathroom to brush my teeth. That happens maybe once or twice a year. Hope you're feeling more rested. Lora, we again have the same weather you do, and bone broth sounds fabulous. Do you think it makes sense to purchase it? I know I'll never make it but I'd like to try it. Jana, congrats on the decluttering. It feels so freeing, doesn't it? Also, great job on the food and alcohol. Wonderful to hear you so energized and focused. I must go to bed. Have a good night all.
