Linda, did you get all your "gotta" stuff done yesterday? How was Costco? I know it's got to be a zoo today. What wild weather swings you are anticipating! Hope you're planning to stay put for the freezing rain tomorrow and it won't cause any problems with powerlines. Will you be watching the game? Is the cold you are expecting after that going to be seasonal cold or below average?
Has your weather improved, Kathy? You seem to be wetter than usual this year. 30 lbs in 3 months is probably not a realistic goal for me either. Might not even be a realistic goal for a year. I figured you probably weren't happy with maintaining. I hope you can get things moving in the right direction. I'm still trying to figure out what I can tweak because I thought I was doing pretty well but no movement means apparently I'm not. Were you successful in avoiding the crowds yesterday on your grocery run? I'll bet the duck-ibis interaction was entertaining. Yes, this will be your last W-2 of your work life. Enjoy the taxes. You've been retired for about 11 months now, so does it feel real yet?
Becky, I hadn't even thought about your having to go for pre-ops. Yes, this does seem kind of early. I was thinking it wouldn't be for another month. Good to have help arranging for transportation. It would be nice if you could develop 5 lbs of muscle for that extra 5 lbs. So sorry you still have the after effects of the bug. That would probably make you feel a lot better if you could shake that.
The "drive-thru" has been pretty busy today here, Chele. There has been an assortment of chickadees, house finches, and the occasional titmouse. Is the plural of titmouse titmice or titmouses?? Did you and Iggy do anything special today? Any Super Bowl plans? Have you managed to keep the headache at bay? Is your weather improving? They had snow in NC yesterday but we had nothing but clouds here.
Liz, how did the week go and are you getting some good R&R so far this weekend? How has your step count been and how are the joints feeling? Are you back to your regular commute routine now?
How's the treadmill, Amy?
We have a dreary, drizzly day here and I've been doing inside stuff. I watched my gardening shows and then did a Joe Gardener webinar on seed starting. It had some good info but part of it was plugging an online class that I would love to take but can't afford to spend $147 right now to take it. I also had a couple of basils in one of the AeroGardens that desparately needed to be transplanted, so I did that. Most of the rest of the day has revolved around a master gardener issue. In yesterday's mail, I got a resignation letter from the secretary. I finally caught up with her by phone this afternoon and she was involved in a situation last spring that almost cost us a bunch of money. The president at the time discussed it with her but she either has forgotten that conversation or didn't understand. She read it in a set of board meeting minutes from last spring and got mad and decided to resign. So I have been back and forth with several of the officers trying to find a way to get bases covered. I think I have things temporarily handled. And yesterday was the last day for the retiring extension director, so it's all on us to resolve. Oh, the joys of volunteer leadership.

Karen, it's another dreary, drizzly day here too. It feels chilly in the house without the sun warming it up. I think the Super Bowl will luck out though once this bad weather clears out of here. I saw where Harry Styles had to cancel his concert in Miami last night due to extreme weather. The severe weather has stayed well south of us, so we've just had rain. That's quite the delayed reaction on your secretary resigning. Maybe it's for the best. Wasn't she the one that you weren't sure if she knew how to transcribe the minutes? I'm going to miss those little ducks when they head back north. I saw the ibis family land today and the ducks came zooming over from the other side of the pond like they own the place. They're small ducks, but they really swim fast. I'm not sure what they have against the ibis, but it's amusing to watch. The ibis ignored them and wandered off. Sounds like you're getting some activity at your feeder too. I don't think we have the chickadees and titmice around here, but I've seen some smaller birds flying around lately. I'm not sure what they are.
Waving to all. Hope you have a good Saturday.

Thanks for the start Karen. We are still having problems coming up with a driver for next week but hopefully we will have one by Thursday. If not I will reschedule for another day which the scheduler said I could.I guess the surgeon had to book the OR this early so he wants everything done early. We finally had a pretty sunny day after a low of 29.These wild swings aren't good for bugs or joints.
Kathy I heard our weather will be warmer than FL for the Super Bowl.
Waves to all.

I run away from leadership positions after 37 years of teaching , meetings and half of it dept head over 20people with one hour a day to do it a d a part time secretary for all of us
75 this afternoon. Got myself out to yank out all the extra aloe vera sprouts that multiple like garlic. pretty soon the whole area is clogged and full of weeds you cannot get out. The main ones (4) are about 2.5 feet around and just as high in multiple barbed spikes that contain the gel. only got one scratch.
I took one big one and put it into a large. pot.
That done, after Micki's walk, I went to my happy place...plant nursery...and got geraniums, blue lobelia and a couple bell pepper plants for my big pot of veggies.
We went out for a veggie and cheese board and small wood fired pizza nearby and came hime with 2/3 of the pizza!

Becky, sounds like we've switched weather. We just had a front come through, but a high of only 68 is pretty cool for Miami. We're only supposed to get to 64 here and next week it's back to the 80s. These crazy swings in the weather are tough on everyone.
Linda, I'm the same as you on the leadership positions. Over 38 years of too many meetings and a lot of it as team lead or project manager. I don't have any desire to do more of it! I've never planted aloe in the ground and from your description, I don't think I will.
Is everyone watching the Super Bowl? I'm not too excited for either team, but will root for the Chiefs.

Kathy, I hope your front cleared out your skies. Enjoy your cooler weather, even if it's temporary. That's going to be a chilly Super Bowl. Will be comfortable for the players though. Go Niners!! Ducks around here don't seem particularly fast. I guess you've been adopted by them, or your pond has. You are correct on the secretary being one of the ones I had concerns with. Not necesarily a delayed resignation on her part because I don't think she understood when the president talked with her last year how potentially serious the situation was. And, she never expected to see her name listed in board minutes, and I think it mad her mad to know that people had been talking about her. She is fairly negative but just sees herself as realistic. So it puts me down an officer, but I wasn't all that upset about it. I'm not sure aloe would do well there for a year round plant because it tends to like it very dry. Of course, Linda hasn't had a lot of dry weather of late either.
You're right about the weather swings and their effects on bugs and body parts, Becky. Did you go to church this morning? I hope it wasn't too painful if you did. Enjoy your warmer weather. The ground hog didn't see his shadow, so maybe an early spring--or not.
Linda, I probably should run from leadership positions but I just don't seem to be able to. Is that the 2nd time in a couple of weeks you've gone to the wood-fired pizza place? On the aloe, have you thought about putting it in gallon pots sunk into the ground to keep it from getting out of control? Congrats on the new flowering plants. What color bell peppers did you get? I'm not a fan of the green ones, but love the colored ones. Somebody keeps leaving pallets by the side of the road, so Dale has been bringing them home. I think I'm going to use them to make an enclosure for my raised beds to keep out the deer and perhaps some of the other little critters. I plan to have a small flower bed around it for further protection from deer and to hopefully keep out the bunnies. Usually the squirrels aren't overly interested in vegetable plants.
How are the sinuses doing, Chele? You've been quiet this weekend.
Liz, you have been quiet as well. Are you laying low and getting rested up for the week to come? No cases of coronavirus in NY yet, so at least you seem to be catching a break there, especially with the Asian population you have in the city.
Down 1 lb on WI this morning. I've been concentrating more on fiber intake and perhaps it's starting to pay off. We're watching the Lady Vols lose to SC. They should have a better year than last year but still have a ways to go. They're young.

Got my flowers bought yesterday into the pots today and trimmed shrubs back next to them. The peppers are green, which do well for me, but I let them ripen to red. Need to cover the veggie pot next four nights...low to mid 30s early morn. The tomatoes died anyway. Should give up as by the time the green ones ripen, summer heat stops them from forming.
Nice to get back outside for exercise that accomplishes something. Juniper Pollen is rising though and ash trees are heavily budded.
I really should try concentrating on fiber.

two glasses of wine later....
We never watch football, not even this one. With everyone talking parties and special food, I opened a bottle of champagne for us while we read our books! Real party animals here. I do not usually drink wine. It gives me major munchies, and it is amazing what goes with champagne when you read a Stephanie Plum crazy book. They are ALWAYS eating in it. Don't ask.

Linda You are always so busy and productive.I don't know how you keep it up.
Kathy We have definitely switched weather.Yesterday we had a low of 29 and this morning 32.We had frost on the car both mornings. It briefly hit 80 this afternoon but is down to 73.If it hadn't been for the brisk south wind it would have really been warm today. We don't have a groundhog but Austin has the armadillo and surely he saw his shadow with all the sunshine. We had a warmer than normal January so it will probably be colder in February.
Karen I guess I missed the part about the secretary resigning. It sounds like she had quite a few personal issues though.I know the groundhog didn't see his shadow but remember the armadillo in Austin.I will see on tonights forecast if he saw his shadow.January was so warm I think Feb will be cooler than normal but we can't buy a decent rain shower. We did make it to church and they had it so hot in there.I had to get up once to use the facilities so that helped my knee out some.Yesterday the knee felt better but today it's hurting again.Congrats on your loss.Fiber does help.I have been eating apples in the afternoon and in addition to my steps it seems to help.On my WI day last week the scale had me up 2.4 lbs which although I wanted to gain a few lbs I thought was a bit too fast. This morning I was down those same 2.4 lbs back where I started when I decided I might need to gain so go figure.
I may have found a ride for my Thursday appointment. Our neighbor's housekeeper may be able to take us.If not our neighbor will take us herself which came as a surprise since she doesn't drive much in Austin either.I was having too much trouble getting help from church members that we decided to start calling other people. We may start visiting the church we went to yesterday for the celebration of life.Kenneth was raised in that church and we attended for a time after we married. We both felt a good connection yesterday and may give them another try.
