Good Morning Train Riders,
This morning it was 21º (feels like 14º) and going up to 43º with partly cloudy skies and wind W 5-10 mph. We finally have a day coming up with temperatures above freezing.
Sarah’s joint Christmas program with some other schools in the area was rescheduled to take place Wednesday evening. She gets out of school at noon and has to be at the church for the program at 7:00 PM.
Hannah and Rachael have final exams today and tomorrow and then will be on Christmas break until January 5 but Sarah has to go back to school after the break on the 4th.
Another Japan memory: I remember looking for a lot to build our house on in Koganei, a suburb of Tokyo. We were looking there because it was near the American School in Japan where our kids went. It was hard to find a lot large enough for a house, carport and a bit of space for a yard because most Japanese don’t have yards to be concerned about. We finally found one that was 60 X 60 feet and was about 3 feet higher than the street and in a nice neighborhood. I was able to work with our builder on the house plans. Our house had an entry with a step up where guests would leave their shoes and put on slippers provided by the owners. We had a study, small bathroom, L shaped living-dining room, kitchen, utility room and maid’s room on the first floor. Upstairs we had 3 bedrooms, a small storage room and a bathroom. This was our home for the last 10 years we were in Japan. When we moved in the builder brought us a gift of a large tank of tropical fish which he raised as a hobby. We had them until we left Japan and returned them to him at that time. More tomorrow.

Hello, Doris & Train Riders,
You are up early, Doris! I'm up and moving slow.
Sweet potato hash for breakfast. What? They ran out of roast beef yesterday. Yes, you could have something else. Life can be an adventure here.
There was a mud slide and it is messing up traffic. Portland does have traffic! I'm not in the desert anymore. There was rain all night and a temp of 43 degrees or so.
If anyone wants the instructions for posting a picture, I will send them.
May your day be cheerful!

Hi Cat,
I'm up early most mornings and especially school mornings because I'm the one who usually gets Sarah her breakfast and puts her lunch together for her. The other two prefer to get lunch at school but Sarah likes to take hers. She sometimes waits until she is in the car on the way home from school to eat it and sometimes even shares it with her sisters for a snack on the way home.
Sweet potato hash sure wouldn't be my choice for breakfast. I hope they had some other things to choose from.

I wish I had Sarah's appetite. I never eat cookies but sugar cookies at Xmas time are hard to resist!
Blessings.

Good morning!
We have an answer! Our DS does not have RA or any of the other many things he had been told he had! He has something unpronouncible that is a severe lung disease and all the other things are how it presents itself. So. The doctor has given us hope that with treatment, he may be back to normal in about 18 months. There is a VERY expensive shot he should get twice a year, plus an oral med. Now we wait on the insurance company (Pray!) If they resist,he will be put on the lung transplant list. But this is hope!
I am worn out today. I still don't feel well -- just allergies and stress. I plan an easy day.
Cat, I never heard of sweet potato hash. Hmmm. Now, I want to make sugar cookies. Darn.
Have a happy day, everyone.

Diane,
I'm glad to hear your DS doesn't have all those possible things but I'm glad they were able to finally pinpoint what he does have. He will remain in my prayers for recovery. I hope the insurance company will be willing to pay for the very expensive medicine and also the oral medicine he needs.

I add my prayers to the others for your son, Diane. Doris what a nice thing to add to the builder's benefits, a fish tank! It does seem almost warm today now that the temps are above 32. Nice to see the ice disappear.
This morning I went to HyVee and Sam's and got most of what is needed for the noon meal Sunday. I think we'll have 3 kinds of soups and things to go with that. I literally ran into son, John while at the grocery store. He has the day off and was visiting us and my sis. Neither Dave or I was home so he went to the grocery store so I had the joy of shopping the rest of the stuff with my son! He says maybe some day he'll have to be doing this with us because we can't do it ourselves anymore. ACH! He was getting things that their house guest, a friend of DGD#2, her friend from Viet Nam might like. She can't stay in the dorm and can't go home during the holiday vacation. I'm watching Gunsmoke, got the idea from you and MJ!

Diane< I am glad to hear that your DS does not have all the other things they were thinking the problem was, being normal eventually is good! I hope that something can be worked out for the shot etc. I know I have friends that were able to get help with prescriptions like that. either a case study or even the Drs finding some way. good luck. Be sure to check all avenues.
Doris now you will be able to go see the concert, is it in the same place that you wanted to go see?
I decided not to get a trim today, just did a color, and let it grow a bit more. Going to need a perm soon I think. My Beautician is going to have her reconstuctive surgery in January, think her DD is going to work for her again. if not will find some place else to get a perm. Lot of shops in our area. One just down the road from me, which would be nice if roads are bad. Her drive way was not the best today with ice at top of the driveway but my car just went up it fine. nothing coming on the highway so didn't have to stop at the top. that may have been a problem.,
Most of the ice has melted except where there are trees shading it. I put the feral kitty outside for awhile but she was waiting to be let in soon as I got home. Let her in as it is getting colder quickly and wind has picked up. It is still pretty out here where I live but down town is a bit messy and dirty looking.

Connie,
Sarah's program will be in one of the churches in Lincoln where the program will include kids from several of the Lutheran schools in Lincoln. MJ took Sarah there for practice and says the church is beautiful. I'll get to see for myself at the program tomorrow evening.

Bessie, you need to register. You are showing up as a guest. I'll have to look up register. Don't remember how to do it.
If you want a picture in your message:
In Search type in free Christmas clip art
select one, then right click and look for open in new tab (important step) Click on the new tab, right click on image and look for copy image address (not copy image as I keep doing)
go to your message and click on insert image...take out the first http and then put in the (paste) your image address.
There are too many steps. Good luck.
******************** The picture for your profile:
Click on Profile above...click on Edit Profile. You need to know where you have your picture. click on upload your own link and go find the picture....the last step is save the image and you will see a green square that says picture saved...I think...I have to check this again.
