Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Brrr!! 6 degrees on my weather bug. Going to get into the 20's today.
Robin, I will let you know about the Roomba, but it might not be for a couple weeks yet. Is yours a Dyson? Those are supposed to be excellent, if we believe their commercials. That Iowa caucus sure turned into a cluster, didn't it? They are blaming it on an app. I did not watch the State of the Union last night, I never do.
Marsha, I am not too sure that we are in the minority for thinking the half time show was not appropriate. I have read so many comments, on Yahoo, and on FB, from people all over the country, feeling the same way. It is main stream media that are making those 2 into the darlings of the country. And of course, most men liked the show. Congrats to your DD, doing so good with her horse shows! That is so nice that she has something else to take her mind off of the stress of her school work. Was that house fire anywhere close to you? That poor poor dog!!!! I hate hearing about pets not making it out.
Pinky, winter stuck it's nose back in here during the night, with the temp dropping like a rock. It was chilly out yesterday too. Mother Nature is slowly reminding us that she is around. I did not see the ad for Doritos. I will have to watch for it on regular TV. Hope you got everything done yesterday, that you wanted to.
Gareth, good to hear that your stomach issues left you, so you could have a good time at the birthday party. Oh, lasagna!! One of my favorites! Don't get it much tho. We have that Shark steamer mop, and purely love it! Anything Shark or Ninja is a good buy in my book. I too am passing on American Dirt.
Anngie, sorry about the weather you will be getting. That system is staying south of us. We are predicted to get measurable snow sometime Sunday. The weather guy just said: "after all, it is winter"!!! Lol. That is what I hate about those tests, you have to wait awhile to hear the results! Good luck with yours. Hope all goes well with your dentist apt.
Carol, I have an implant from years ago, when I was a senior in high school, and yes, it is a process, a very long process, if I remember correctly. About JLo, I tried, really tried, to hear her singing, as I knew nothing about her singing ability, and I could not barely hear her, over all the noise, so I still do not know what kind of singer she is. I truly believe what you said is true, that it was not about the singing. Sad. About the flu and the shot, my DH and I both got it, but I do not know what he had last week. With the violent vomiting, and feeling so sick, but no fever, and it took just 2 days, then by day 3 he was feeling much better, just a bit dizzy if he over did the walking. So who knows, with all the germs going around, what people are getting.
DH back surgery doctor apt went great. He is off the cane, can take a bath (he loves soaking in a tub), can drive, when not taking pain meds. His lung doctor apt went a bit good too, he had the pulmonary function test done, which of course he hated, then saw the doctor. The doctor was the one I saw in October. He was not happy with how DH lungs do not expand to the diaphragm, so he has a few things to do about that, otherwise doctor is not worried about him, other than stressing that DH HAS to loose weight! So after his therapy this morning, I am taking him to the Y to get signed up. Needless to say, I love that doctor!
Up earlier than usual, as we have to run DH jeep to the dealer, to get that door fixed, then his therapy. This afternoon DH has his check up with his Urologist, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that all is well on that front! After this apt we should be able to settle down to "just" therapy for another few weeks, working on DB house, and getting back into a habit of going to the Y. I still want to take a road trip up north, but will put that on the back burner for a month or two.
Oh my, almost forgot! I have a question to all who read Summer of 69. Does it get better? The beginning is just so boring!!! I will stick with it, if you all think it will get better.
Have a great day everyone.

Just finished walking. Sitting for awhile before I get breakfast and get ready for work. Going to be a long day. Besides my regular workshop that I work I'm working two back to back ones later this afternoon too. Since one of my coworkers also works as a tax preparer she's on leave until after tax season so I'm subbing for her.
Karen, glad all went well with DH's appointments for the most part. Hope his appointment today goes well too. I havenโt read Summer of 69 so can't help you there.

Karen, J-Lo's songs are far from Country, which I know is what you like. They are more pop or hip-hop. She has had quite a number of movie rolls. She used to live around here, when she was married to Mark Anthony and had the twins, and of course she is originally from NY and is engaged to Alex Rodriguez, who was a Yankee for so long, that she is always news in NY. Some of her songs I like.
Yes, the vacuum I have is a Dyson, it isn't great for everything, and not good on carpet really other than to take off surface dirt, but it's great to have around.
Off to work, have to get moving.

Hi to all---I am just stopping in quick to say hi as I am prepping my food for tonight and a few last minute clean ups---like the bathrooms etc. I need to get busy in case any customers stop by that would need my attention and it would delay me. I have the wine chilling----you are all welcome to stop by!!!
Have to say I love my Dyson!
Karen---just google Cool Ranch Doritos superbowl commercial and it will pop up for you.
Have a great day all!

I did have one other comment to make to just get this off my chest and I know I should keep my mouth shut on here when it comes to politics(especially when I don't even care about politics) but I did watch a little bit of the state of the union and I just couldn't take any more watching Ms. Pelosi---what a desrespectable B****, UUUMMMMM I mean woman!

Karen - that house fire was in Bellevue. We are near the Broadview Y. So not near us. I saw a very abbreviated version of the Doritos ad this morning. You may have to find the whole version on the internet somewhere. I read Summer of 69. I don't think I loved it.
Robin and Pinky - hi.
I finished Sold On A MOnday. I think I'd give it a 3.5. It was good but for some reason never really grabbed me enough that I couldn't put it down. I think The Dutch House is next.
I watched part of the State of the Union. I quit watching when the 2 year old got a standing ovation.

We didn't watch the State of the Union either. I think Pelosi did was immature, but not more immature than Trump refusing to shake her hand. Is the country being run by 2 year olds?
Does the Roomba work on wood laminate floors? We are not supposed to use vacuums with a beater brush or turn the brush off when we go from carpet to the wood. I think it would be great to have one. No telling what our cats would do. I don't think they would try to ride on it. It is 36 degrees today. We got rain last night, but the temp never got below freezing. I think the bad weather is north of us in Oklahoma and west in Texas. Our DS lives in Abilene and they got snow. According to the weather app it won't get down to freezing until 3 a.m. Thursday so tomorrow will be worse for us,
Karen, sounds like your DH is doing well. Hope he gets a good report today, too. DH had a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago. I can't imagine the doctor not mentioning his weight, but if he did, DH didn't tell me. I didn't think it would be good to ask. He has lost weight before on his own or on WW with me so he knows what to do. I'm not going to nag.

Carol, I have the Shark/Ninja robo vac that's like the roomba. It automatically goes from carpet to hard services. I've seen videos of cats riding the robo vacs. My cats never would have. Even though it's quieter I'm sure they'd have run from it just like the regular vac which as soon as it came out of the closet they were gone before it was even turned on.
The only SB commercial I saw was the groundhog one with Bill Murray. I loved it!
Gotta get something to eat and back to work again....

I watched some of the State of the Union address. I think that the President's snub of Nancy Pelosi sticking out her hand do shake, and him not shaking it, set a very bad tone for whatever she chose to do. I got tired of the whole thing, and we turned it off.
I walked the dog this morning and when I got home, and although the temperature is the same, it just feels so much colder in the afternoon, I don't understand it.
I am having mah jongg at my house tomorrow, and my cleaning woman came today. She has not been here in quite a while, and I don't want to mess anything up before tomorrow, so I bought some things to heat up for dinner. I bought myself pre-grilled chicken breast, and have some grillled veggies from Trader Joe's that I will heat up to have with it. DH will have Eggplant Rollatine, either on a plate or sandwich, which he likes.
I am reading Dear Edward. Not sure if anyone has heard of it. I am at 58%, so depending on what I am in the mood for, I might finish it by Friday, tomorrow will be next to no reading time.
