What is the most expensive food you’ve eaten, or meal at a restaurant?

We live by New York City and when we eat in Manhattan we easily run up a bill to $150-$200 for a meal. The only things memorable were a piece of South Carolina Coconut Cake, and a luscious lasagna.

We usually limit ourselves to not so expensive meals. I think the biggest expense for me was taking the entire family out for a meal during mom's memorial...seems like the bill was for 700 dollars or some such thing. The siblings would pay each time we went out but that was definitely a shocker! Usually we don't spend more than 15 dollars per person and it is a lot less if we just have a sandwich

Our most expensive meal is usually for our anniversary. It’s at our favorite restaurant in NYC and it usually costs $400+. Their potato-leek soup is heavenly!!!!

Meals in San Francisco can be pricey. For our combo 30th anniversary/60th birthday party we hosted several couples at a 3 star Michelin. We also comped hotel rooms for a couple of couples. I don't recall the exact total, but it was a lot. It was definitely a once in a lifetime event and worth every penny.

bbbearsmom, it’s Daniel’s Chef Daniel Bolud is the owner. The dress code is business-classy, semi-formal to formal.

Can we be friends in real life so I can come to one of these soirees? I am funny, like to discuss interesting topics, and know how to behave in fancy pants places. Thanks!
I grew up outside NYC and my parents both worked in the city all my growing up life, so we started going to nice restaurants a a young age. We would normally go to a play on or off-Broadway, and go to a pre-theatre dinner beforehand but I'm not sure what those meals cost. My friend took me to Cafe Bolud several years ago because he was dating a food critic that knew the reservation girls there. I think that was a very pricey dinner, and very good. Expensive food doesn't always mean the best though. Sometime the little mom and pop ethnic places are the best. We have a little southern Italian joint nearby, a N.J. transplant, that serves up the best southern Italian to rival anything in NJ or NY area. And it's pretty inexpensive.
