Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Warmer this morning than yesterday, but not by much, 15 today, with a sunny and a tad warmer day coming up. I think he said a high of 30.
Gareth, I remember you doing that for your co worker in previous years, I hope the tax season goes fast for you! Were you affected by that storm going thru yesterday? It stayed south of us, but not sure if it went your way.
Robin, I am just amazed at how low our "leaders" have sunk. Just a bunch of babies, no matter which party. That is weird, about it feeling colder in the afternoon. I have seen a lot of press over the years about JLo, and know she is engaged. It is just that I really could not hear her singing the other night, and have not heard any of her music, so I was kind of curious the other night to hear it, but the background noise and all was just too loud.
Pinky, I am so sorry, but I just can not make it, lol!!! Wouldn't that be a hoot, if we all showed up?!! Hope everything went off great. I too do not care about politics, but of course the main stream media keeps us informed of all the childish things our "leaders" are up to, so I saw that too. I do not have any nice feelings towards her anyway, I think she should be replaced....of course I think the whole BUNCH should be replaced!! Lol!!!
Marsha, so where you are wouldn't be considered Bellevue, or is it Allouez? Sounds like that fire was scary, as there was an explosion first. I am feeling the same, about the Summer of 69. I will stick with it till another hold comes up. I am surprised this book had such a long hold time, so it must be popular.
Carol, yes, that is what I am thinking...that our "leaders" are all 2 year olds. Maybe they have to start having an age limit to those offices. That whole storm system further south of us looked really bad on the news. One side was tornadoes, the other side snow. That is horrible that the south has to worry about tornadoes basically all year long.
DH urology check up was good, yay! In 2 months he will receive a container for his urine, which the office will send to Mayo Clinic. Why I do not know....I wish I would have gone in the room with him!
We were exhausted by dinner time last night, from all the running. I think I was asleep by 10:30, which is not my normal time to sleep, so I was awake by 5. Did not feel well last night so that didn't help.
Excited for this morning, with meeting with our realtor friend at my DB house. We will stop and get a coffee cake or something, to go with the coffee I will have ready to go, for afterwards, when we sit down to do the contract, I want him to come here, I refuse to sit at DB house to do that. It hurts me so bad to feel that way, but it is what it is.
Have a good day everyone.

Karen - great news on DH. Good luck with the realtor. You know that we are all curious to hear what he has to say. I'm in Allouez.
I think everyone who runs for office should be required to take a test to demonstrate that they have read and understand our constitution. And while they are at it they should have to pass 4th grade civics so they know how our government is designed to work. That's all I'll say.
Not much news from here. Boss is out this afternoon and tomorrow so I am looking forward to some peace and quiet. I have an eye doctor appointment today. I hate going to the eye doctor. I never feel like the prescriptions are right. I still feel like it's voodoo medicine - seems far too subjective when they pick your prescriptions based on you telling them which you can see better. It takes me back to school and pressure to get the right answer, when you aren't sure just guess because "they are the same" isn't good enough. Plus my eye doctor is always running very late so it ends up a very long appointment. And to top it off, she is the mother of one of ds' former very good friends. When the friend got married a year or so ago he did not invite ds' gf, but he did invite the roommate of another in their group. DS was insulted and didn't go to the wedding. When friend called to find out why he wasn't coming ds told him the truth so friend said that gf can come but of course that was too late. And I don't blame ds for being hurt, by that point everyone knew that ds and gf are a permanent thing and not inviting her was like not inviting his fiancé or his wife. So I know that to be polite I need to wish her congratulations on John's marriage but I don't want it to go into that awkward place of ds not going.

We’re definitely getting the bad weather here! It snowed about 3” and now we have freezing drizzle. From what they say, this will end this afternoon but then we get more of the same tomorrow with colder temps. Most schools had 2 hr. delays but it’s probably due to the fact that they are out of snow days!
Just to weigh-in on the State of the Union address which we watched. I think the chain of vents were set, in the very beginning, when the introduction of the President was different than was customarily done throughout the years.
I’m almost done with AJ Fitry and thinking ahead to the next read. I always have at least one book started. Some end up being worth mentioning (like this one) and others not. I still have a hard time giving up on a book.
Karen, I’m so glad DH is a little better every day! To not needing a cane is a good start! I don’t get the results of my MRI until the 20th. The dentist appointment went well - he used the wrong fitting with the first impression and that’s why I needed to go back. The crown should be ready on the 13th.
Can’t wait to hear about your meeting with the realtor!

Karen--good to hear your DH's appt. went well. Hope your appt with the realtor today goes well.
Marsha--great idea on the test before running for politics.
Anngie---shoot on getting that snow and freezing drizzle. Hope it doesn't last long.
Bookclub was fun last night and good discussion. It got later than usual last night as every one seemed extra chatty. I hadn't hosted bookclub since we moved so except for a couple of my closest friends no one had seen our new house yet so of course we had a tour as well. I knew this would probably happen so I really did have to get everything cleaned in all parts of the house. I suggested we read Where The Crawdads Sing for next time since I liked it so well and I think it will be great to discuss. Only one other gal has read it, which I was surprised at so that is our next read and I just read it so I can skip reading that and read some other choices I have been wanting to. As tired as I was last night by the time I got to bed after cleaning up I just couldn't go to sleep. Not sure if I was just that geared up yet or it was the wine. Anyway I slept very poorly last night which is unusual for me and I am dragging today. If I ever get my butt in gear I will go through our taxes and make sure I have everything ready. Other than that I will do a little work in our business office with some filing and some paperwork and I do not plan to push anything anymore than that---oh yeah gotta do that one load of laundry.
I finished Winter in Paradise yesterday while I worked and will be anxious for my hold to come up for What Happens in Paradise which is the 2nd in the series. I am anxious to get it as I enjoyed the first one and cant wait to see what happens.

Busy morning again at work. After work I had to get blood drawn for my upcoming yearly bone dr. appt and bone scan. The lab technician had such a hacky cough. Sure hope she wasn't contagious. I can't believe they allowed her to work. I wanted to say something so bad but not when she was poking me with a needle!
Almost finished with A Friend Of The Family. Not one of Lisa Jewell's best. I've several in my TBR list. Not sure what I'll listen to next.
Karen, I heard there's a confirmed case of Coronavirus in Wisc. A couple of unconfirmed ones in our state. Good news on DH's report. Too bad you didn't go in with him. Maybe you can call to get more info. Like everyone else I'm anxious to hear what your realtor has to say.
Pinky, I feel like you today. I'm really dragging too. I slept good until 2:00 AM and then tossed and turned until I finally got up before 5:00 I had to be to work early anyway but still would've like to have at least slept until the alarm.
Marsha, I'm like you getting my eyes checked. I hate that which looks better. So hard to tell on most.
Anngie, sorry about your weather. Sun is shining for a change here. Just wish it was a warm sun. It's cold! At least no snow or freezing drizzle.

Gareth - the coronavirus case went to the University hospital which led dd to start thinking about all the foreign students who went home to China for winter break. But if the incubation period is 2 weeks I think she probably has no cause to worry, school has been back in session for almost 2 weeks so if any of them were going to come down with it they'd be sick already.

Karen, I'm anxious to hear what the realtor said, too. I got where I refused to stay in ILs house when we went to visit. Not only was the house full of stuff, it was dirty. There were huge cobwebs everywhere. Plus the mattress was really old and made my back hurt. When DH went my himself, he would stay with them.
Yesterday about 5 pm, it started snowing, big flakes coming down pretty fast. By 7, it had changed to light snow. The temperature dropped and got below freezing. Now it is still in the 30s, the sun is out. I don't know if there was any black ice on the roads before the sun came up. I imagine there were a lot of disappointed school kids today. When I went to the grocery store everything was fine. Yes, in the south we can have tornadoes pretty much in every season. They are more unusual in the winter, but, obviously, do happen.
Anngie, I'm like you I always have a book going. It drives me crazy not to have one. That's one reason I buy books at thrift stores-so I have something to read if I don't have time to go to the library.
Marsha, I don't like getting my eyes checked either. It's hard to decide which slide is clearer. Must be a thing about eye doctors, I usually have to wait when I have an appointment. He has gotten a little bette, but in the past I've waited well over an hour.

Just a quick hello. I was out relatively early because of networking, and sent DH some "tasks" to do in the office. This is a good way of communicating about work stuff. I am hosting mah jongg tonight, so really have to get moving, I have to drop something at the post office, and get DH something to eat tonight.

Agreed with those of you commenting about the eye doctor----nice to know I am not the only one that cannot decide which is better as I always thought I was the only one with this issue.

I do need to make an eye doctor appointment, but with an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist, who is the one who normally gives me a prescription for my eye glasses. I can probably use stronger glasses, but just don't want to keep having them get stronger. I have an odd feeling in one of my eyes. I think it is really more from my sinuses, and sometimes it tears, but I want to make sure.
It has been drizzling here all day. and I see it is going to continue until tomorrow. Right now it's 37 degrees, but is going to get warmer into the 50's. Crazy for winter weather. I have my veggies cut up, have to do my cantaloupe.
Karen, I agree that you couldn't hear Jennifer Lopez's singing that well. I don't know if she was singing herself, and the sound system wasn't that good, or what. What I did find interesting is that they don't pay people who do the half time show.
