Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Chilly this morning, at 23 degrees, another day like yesterday, then snow coming tomorrow.
Robin, our February's can sometimes be worse than January too, especially if we had a cold December, then we sometimes get a January thaw, then go back to a bitter Feb. This winter has been off the charts, what with us getting snow in October right away. It will be bitter cold for a couple days, then back up to the 30's. LOL, about your DH and duct tape!!!! I guess you really can use duct tape for anything!!!! Your way of cooking sure sounds interesting!
Gareth, how long will you be working those extra hours? Wow, you will be deserving a nice vacation!! Speaking of wanting spring to come, yesterday was a perfect example of getting closer and closer to that time. It was a perfectly sunny day, and driving around, you could feel how warm the sun is getting, which leads you to think that spring is really just right around the corner!
Pinky, my goodness your weekend was busy!!! We will have that this weekend, (well sort of, with all 4 grand kids overnight here), so last weekend being quiet was so appreciated. How sad, about your DS friend. Have they heard anything yet, as to what happened? I think it would be neat to be Epic! Lol, famous...I don't think so! (By the way, if one of your suit cases seem heavier than it should, don't worry about it, it is only me, hiding in there to go with you guys to NV!!)
Marsha, congrats!!! Great job on the weight loss. Yeah, I lost those 2 pounds I had gained, then I weighed myself this morning, and there those 2 pounds are! So hopefully they will disappear again before Friday. Sometimes it is so easy to get disgusted. Yep, just want to be done with the house. The Realtor said it is easier for us, since we are not emotionally tied to the house. When they announced yesterday that GB got 5.8" of snow, I thought that was a bit low. I think here in Howard was around 7".
Anngie, I will have to look and see why they changed those name things on here, I feel it is a little ridiculous. Of course when they switched to the pro boards, and we had the names of gold or whatever, I did not think that was needed either. Your list is a good idea. I need that, and I would have to read it a lot during the day!
Carol, did you see that you are Epic? I really like that one. Your story of the 90 yr old is really scary, as it is so close to what we are going thru with our very close elderly friends. I will be dropping off DH later this morning, to the memory care place to visit the DH that lives there. He went downhill so fast, we almost got whip lash! We had them over for cocktails and appetizers one day last summer, and yeah, he was showing his age (93), but he sat and conversed with us like usual. Then by fall he was in and out of the hospital and moved out of the house into memory care. And his mind has basically gone to the place of about 10 years ago. So sad. We know it is just a matter of time, maybe a matter of months.
Talked to Jeff (Realtor) yesterday. The 2 brothers (should I refer to them as the Property Brothers, lol?) went to the house and checked, and sure enough, there is pine board under those awful carpeted rooms. So they are going to try to take them up carefully, to save them for use. He told us they have decided to turn it into a rental. What they are really going to do is what is hot around the stadium...a party house. I am so tickled about that, what a great way to honor my DB, who was a true blue Packer fan. We are going over there tomorrow to take pictures of the rooms, and then I want to be present for an open house, when it is done, to take more pictures. We are happy. He was over there, to snow blow, then he checked the house, so this is so nice not having to run over there, or make sure our DSIL is getting the snow taken care of.
Better get going, up early as DH has therapy early today. Have a nice day everyone.

Hello all. Quiet night last night. Well I guess I do have a story to tell. I'm going to AZ this weekend and my cousin is also going. Our mothers' birthdays are 2 weeks apart so we are planning a little party. Cousin and I discussed and decided dinner just a few of their friends and cousin wants to serve salmon. That is fine with me. So we told the mothers and then my mother called the next day to say she doesn't want salmon, she would prefer brisket. I texted cousin she called her mother and all of a sudden everyone is mad at everyone else. I called my cousin who was on her way home from work so she said she'd call me when she got home, while waiting my mother called to suggest a brunch instead. Which I found funny because that was one of the ideas we had in the first place. So now dinner is a brunch which is easier anyway except that it is Sunday morning and I get in Saturday night so cousin will have to do all the shopping on her own. That being said, I would not be surprised if tonight there is another whole new chapter in the saga.
The weight bounced back up the 1.2 this morning. So it goes. It's a reminder to get back to 25-26 points. I had 29 yesterday. Tonight's dinner item is heavy on cheese so I may need to rethink it.

Karen----I hope you don't get to squished in my suitcase!!!! DS's friend hit a tree while skiing which is what we suspected but it was confirmed. So very sad! So glad things are falling into place for the sale of your DB's house and everyone is happy.
Marsha---Enjoy your weekend in AZ and hope that plan doesn't have too many more changes---LOL!! Great story, thanks for sharing. Guessing you will be heading back home before we get that far into AZ so please leave the nice weather there for us.
We have a sunny blue ski and temps in lower 20's today so decent but sounds like that will change tomorrow. High winds and dropping temps so glad to be leaving SD. Only problem will be getting there with our light snow we had on Sunday will surely blow around like crazy tomorrow. Since our tax appt. is in Brookings and on the way to Sioux Falls DH says we may just head to SF from our appt. if it is blowing to much and spend the night in SF. We were planning to stay there anyway as we have to be at the airport at 4:00 am for our 6:00 flight. With having to plan an hour drive to get to SF and that is with decent weather we will just be there. Our appt is in the morning so I expected to come home and tie up some loose ends here before going back but best get everything done today. So here I am running around like a crazy lady with everything I need to get done today. I most likely won't be on here tomorrow if that all happens and will be gone until the 25th. I may get a chance to read what everyone is up to but most likely will not post. Have a great couple of weeks ladies!

The new names are interesting. I wonder why WW changed them in the first place?
Karen, what is a party house? I know it will be a relief for the whole business with your DB's house to be finished. It is good you and your siblings are agreeable. Our friend whose dad just died think they have a buyer for the house. After he moved to the nursing home, the family started all the cleaning. His wife had died several years ago.
Pinky, I am sorry about your DS's friend. That is so sad.
Marsha, it seems like whenever a party is planned there is some friction over something. Sometimes you just have to say this is what we are having, no more changes.
It rained yesterday with a thunderstorm in the afternoon. It also rained some this morning. Right now it is 43. Sometimes it seems like we think we will get through winter without a big snow storm and then boom! in the middle of February or later, we will have one. Right now nothing like that is predicted.

Home for a short while and then back to work again. I subbed at two workshops this morning and got home at 12:30 to finally have breakfast though I guess I could just call it lunch. I'm surprised I wasn't hungrier than I was though I was more than ready for food. I never eat breakfast before 9:30 or it makes me sick so couldn't eat before work. It's always fun working a workshop that I normally don't to see people I haven't seen in a long time. Nice to catch up and get a few hugs. I'll be subbing more now until tax season is over when my coworker gets back that's a tax preparer.
Karen, glad things are falling into place with DB's house. A load off your mind I'm sure. We have more snow coming tomorrow too along with the coldest temps of winter. Thursday isn't supposed to be much above 0ΒΊ Robin, Had to lol at the picture in my head of you going after DH with your duct tape in hand!
Pinky, so sad about your DS's friend. Have a safe, fun trip!
Marsha, best laid plans huh?! Hope there isn't many more changes!

Karen, sounds interesting, I guess they know they are going to get enough money during the football season to make it worthwhile. If that doesn't work out, they can always sell as is I suppose. Do they use AirBNB by you?
I wanted to get out relatively early today with things I needed to drop at court and DSS, so am posting now quickly.
Carol, this is run by some women, not WW, and I have no idea if they decided to change this, or what. I think it's honestly stupid.
Marsha, the other thing about cheese is that it's salty. Nice that you and your cousin are making that little party for your mother and aunt, should be fun.
Pinky, enjoy your trip. With such an early flight, staying near the airport makes total sense.
It's another rainy day here, but it's 45 degrees. Looks like the rain may have stopped for a while.
