Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Same temp this morning as past mornings. Expecting snow tonight, into tomorrow morning. 1"-4". Am feeling winter dragging on now, can someone fast forward it?
Marsha, lol, I hope the plans have not changed yet again. I love going to brunch, it seems as I get older, I prefer to eat the bigger meal earlier. Nice that you will have your cousin there. Am I reading right, are you only there overnight? As with my recent track record, I have gone off my WW plan, once again. I need a swift kick in the rear. Those 2 pounds I lost...yeah so far 1 of them is back. My issue is getting back to the Y, if I do that, the eating has a better chance to work. Everything that is going on with us is scheduled in the morning, the only time I would go to the Y.
Pinky, have a safe flight! We will sure miss you....that seems like a long time gone, but have fun!!!
Carol, a party house is a house close to Lambeau field (the Packer Stadium), that is totally fixed up for basically tailgating in a grand style. The house would have a lot of space for many people, with usually a big fire pit in the back yard, for the colder weather, an outside bar, a deck over the garage, things like that. It is actually a rental house, but the land lord gets big bucks to rent it, around the football season. DB house is exactly 9tenths of a mile away from the stadium, so it might work, or might not. That is great that your friend can sell the house so quick. We really lucked out, as we knew it would be very hard to sell DB house, with the shape it is in. Oh, I would love to have a thunder storm!!! I think here in the upper Midwest, we look forward to our first one, then we know spring is here.
Gareth, wow, you are really working!!! Just be careful who you hug!!! You never know, about all the germs going around. Just fist bump, lol! They are now saying Friday morning it should be around -14!!! But by Saturday back up to the 30's! Winter is dragging now. My DD2 sent me a message concerning the money from DB, and I told her we talked about it a month ago, and she thought it was longer than that. That shows how long this winter is getting.
Robin, yes, that is how they are looking at the house. They know they are taking a big chance on it, with turning it into a party house. Normally the party houses are closer to the stadium than this one is. DH and I are planning on going over there, every so often, just to be nosey and see how it is going. I think they do Airbnb around here, as I have heard of people complaining about a neighbor using it. That is what happens in a small town. Robin, I wanted to tell you what happened to me yesterday. I got a letter in the mail from the attorney handling DB estate. The cover letter said this was the last piece of the estate which has been recorded, so we are done with the attorney. I looked over the document, which is Termination of Decedent's Interest. Each person (me and my siblings) had to sign the form and have it notarized. Where my DB signed, (he had stopped at the lawyer's office to do that, while he was in town for the funeral), and one of the ladies at the office there notarized it. I looked at it, and saw they had a different person, with DB name, but different middle initial and different address printed on there. DB signed right under that, then printed under his signature was the name, typed, with a different middle initial! OMG! So, I called the attorney's office, and of course the girl I had to talk to was out, they said she would call me back, and naturally she didn't. I am concerned, as this is most likely needed to sell the house, which could be just a matter of weeks away, that this is not legal. Am I correct?
Going to meet the realtor at the house this morning, so he can check out the car better. I will go in the house and take pictures and maybe go thru the house a little more better, now that that gas leak is gone. I do not think there is much left tho.
Have a good day everyone.

Karen, hard to believe the attorney or anyone in his office didn't catch that. Hope it's an easy fix.
Snow predicted later today and tonight though it doesn't sound like a lot anyway. Of course it'll be windy too. Wind chill and winter weather advisories Wednesday night and Thursday when it even isn't supposed to get above 0º Oh joy! I keep telling myself that at least it's another day closer to Spring. Another long day and again tomorrow. I've had my walk. Time now to get ready for work.

The party is off. My mother had 5 people on the guest list. She called 4 of them yesterday. The first was very excited and happy to come. The second has a special needs adult son and can't come because she doesn't have anyone to stay with him then. The 3rd and 4th are relatives and they have out of town company coming. And the 5th and the 1st can't stand each other, and although Cousin and I said tough they need to be adults and get along at the dinner table, if it is only the 2 of them and us it's not going to work. So we cancelled the whole thing. Oh well. We tried. Cousin and I will take our mothers out. Although I was thinking of asking Cousin if she wants to do a dinner or brunch just the 4 of us that we will make. We could get party hats lol.
Robin - I'm going Saturday home on Wednesday. the issue was the brunch would have been Sunday morning after I get in Saturday night.
Other than that no news. I have to put gas in my car at lunch and dh wants to meet me so we can fill both cars using the discount we get from the grocery store. I think we have 50 cents/gallon to use up so if we fill both cars that means quite a decent amount of money saved.

Marsha, sorry the party didn't work out. It is sad when people can't get along even for a short time. It might be for the best though since you aren't even getting there until Saturday, less work for you.
Robin, I just forgot the boards aren't run by WW.
Thanks for the explanation of a party house. Strange about the name on the document. I don't know if there are Airbnbs here in our small town. I know when DD and DSIL went to New York City, they stayed in one.
DH went out of town yesterday. He should be back this evening. The cats woke me up before 6 wanting to be fed. I don't think DH feeds them that early, but since I was awake and had to go to the bathroom, I went ahead and fed them. I went back to bed. It took me a little while to get back to sleep, but finally did and ended up sleeping late.
It is 41 degrees here and raining. It has been raining since last night. According to my weather app we have gotten 1.8 inches of rain since midnight. I can't remember if I said we are building a new high school. It was supposed to be ready for the 20-21 school year. They now say it won't be ready until the beginning of the 21 semester. It's because we have gotten so much rain.

Carol - your cat story made me laugh. Years ago when I was first out on my own I had a cat and she would wake me to feed her breakfast. It kept getting earlier and earlier and finally I decided I had had enough of that behavior and I stopped feeding her as soon as I got out of bed. Instead I fed her when I ate after my shower or whatever. It worked to change her behavior and she stopped waking me.

Marsha, it’s really too bad the party didn’t work out. I think it would have been enjoyed by DM and your aunt. But maybe just the four of you is the best idea considering! Either way, enjoy them both - no one has a crystal ball, do we. Great idea on dealing with your cat! Safe travels!
Karen, legal or not I’d want the paperwork fixed. Wouldn’t you know something random like that would happen! We must always be on our toes!
Hi Gareth & Carol!
Pinky, have a great time - you and DH have earned it!
We just finished painting DS2 bedroom now that he’s been on his own (he’s been out of the house a few years) and we’re just doing this now. I’ve been looking for a daybed with trundle for that room but am finding that’s not something many furniture stores carry anymore. I guess they’re not very popular. I think it would work great though for when our two DGS’s come. I’ll keep looking.

Anngie - we have dd's old daybed in ds' old room and I'm not crazy about it. the trundle is broken - it won't rise up - but it's still ok as a mattress on a frame that is about 4" off the floor. But as far as utility in the room I kind of wish I had a futon instead. Of course, I don't have grandkids looking to sleep over. I've slept in that bed a few times when I've been sick with a bad cold or dh has been sick and it's not that comfortable as an adult in a twin bed with a frame on 3 sides.

Karen, sometimes certain documents can have cross-outs. Didn't your brother notice that it was wrong? I guess he was not paying attention. Hopefully they can use it as is.
Marsha, sorry that the party isn't working out. It would have been nice, but I think everyone would be uncomfortable with 2 people who don't get along, when they are sitting around a table in a smaller group. Everyone would be on pins and needles worried that they could have an argument or something.
Gareth, sorry you are having such cold weather, and Carol, sounds like your weather, for TX, isn't much better. We are having a lot of rain too. Although today was a bit colder, it was still in the 40's most of the day. Good thing you got back to bed, and didn't have to worry about when you woke up.
Anngie, I am one who is very bad at fixing up my DS's rooms, they still are not really fixed up.
DH was going to take the train in, drive to the station and park there, but he is not familiar with it, decided he didn't want to deal with it, was short of time, so just drove in. I am sure he made it in plenty of time. When I was coming back from somewhere earlier in the day, it was showing that it would take 20 minutes to the tunnel from our exit. By 4:00, I am sure it wasn't much worse. My plans are to do laundry, have an omelet for dinner, with some chicken bacon that my DSIL recommended, catch up on my guiltiest pleasure of a TV show, The Bachelor, and do some reading. I might be able to finish The Court Dancer.
