Do you have a problem with food as an enemy?

In a way I think I do. I know there is a lot of food I stay away from because I think it is unhealthy for me, and I keep from ordering things in restaurants because the portions are too big.

This is a question I have never considered...
Food as an enemy...
Okay...had to find out what an enemy was first because it is probably the opposite of friend or ally:
ENEMY:
noun: enemy; plural noun: enemies
a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. "the traditional enemies of his tribe"
Similar: synonym foe adversary opponent rival nemesis antagonist combatant challenger competitor opposer hostile party the opposition the competition the other side the opposing side corrival vier
Opposite: Antonymn friend ally
* a hostile nation or its armed forces, especially in time of war. noun: the enemy "the enemy shot down four helicopters"
*a thing that harms or weakens something else. "routine is the enemy of art"
then googled Food as the enemy and found:
ANSWER: yes & no Intellectually I know that food is not my enemy and that even I am not my own enemy or self sabotageur BUT I think it is easy to fall into the idea that a certain food is better or to be avoided or whatever. I sometimes wish I could go back to the way I was as a child and just eat, not gain weight and live without really thinking about that food. I liked mashed potatoes and gravy but probably did not overeat...not sure when that started happening.
Maybe I should make friends with food and use it as my ally?

Very interesting. I do think so, to a degree at least, about modern processed food. It's so convenient, tastes so darn good, and is bad for my health in various ways. I think it all started with grains and baking back in the prehistoric day. Also, taste combinations using sweet and savory trigger multiple pleasure areas in my brain - no fair!

No, I think that thinking food is the enemy means one is not taking responsibility for their own actions. Food doesn't jump into my mouth, forcing itself into my body. I make the decision to put food into my mouth, it's all on me. So no, food isn't the enemy. If anything, I'm my own enemy.
